I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box with miso soup. I made the mistake of checking yelp after I ordered. The hostess made me pay for my food before it arrived and open the bag to double check the soup and soy sauce was in there. By the time I got home there was sauce everywhere. The chicken was overcooked. The rolls were warm and there were no chop sticks in the bag. I hate when I order Japanese and they don't give me chopsticks. Got the nigiri sushi regular combo, 8 pieces of sushi plus a tuna roll. The starter of miso and salad with ginger dressing were both great. Also great was the complimentary hot tea. The portions and ratio of fish to rice were perfect! We were impressed that the combo actually included 8 pieces of fresh fish nigiri, instead of the typical cheap out of egg, or shrimp/eel. I'm pretty sure one piece was otoro! The quality of fish was impressive for a down-to-earth suburban sushi restaurant. Each piece was delicious, and the tuna roll had substantial chunks of fish. My only complaint was that the rice seemed a little under seasoned, it tasted mostly of pure rice. They definitely appeared to specialize in sushi, though they do have other Japanese dishes such as udon soup, teriyaki, and I think yaki soba. I would be curious to try them in future visits! Subtracted one star as the fish was definitely delicious but not beyond critique, and service could be improved in terms of timeliness. read more

We used to go to this place a lot due to convenience and it was decent. The last three times we went we said we'd never go again...this time is for real. Of course I'd love to support this local sushi spot but the fish was not fresh. Our most recent dine in meal was almost inedible. I recently had sushi in the poconos (think rural) which was soooo much better than this restaurant - sad! 1) sushi fish was served warm 2) sushi was not a piece of fish but mushed up pieces like how they do spicy rolls but it wasn't a spicy roll - just mush 3) sushi had no flavor - poor quality We will not be going back until we hear it has improved. read more

This is our go-to sushi place. The sushi is fresh and they have some great special rolls. I recommend the Rainbow roll and the Spice Girl roll. When we order, delivery is quick, usually half the time they say it will be. When dining in, service is very good, we've never had to wait more than a minute or two to order and food comes quick. He's known for creating one-of-a-kind sushi dishes off the menu and surprising his regular customers with them when they come in to sit down and have a meal. Clean, cozy and atmospheric, with friendly serving staff. The panko crusted chicken katsu dinner is one of my favorite dishes (I get it with teriyaki instead of katsu sauce). Over and over again, Mt. We decided to come here for a quick pre-dinner snack, and save for another table and us, it was pretty empty (this was also around 4:30p). Food: Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura: I ordered an appetizer portion. It was nicely cooked, but there really wasn't a definitive taste. It was just okay IMO California Roll ($4.50): I was seriously craving these BIG time. They were a bit small and taste-wise, nothing spectacular. Yes, it's a CA roll, what do I expect? But if the Japanese-Chinese take-out place near me makes em better, this place has got to step it up. Spicy Girl Roll: Spicy salmon and tuna. The Husband loved it. Oshinko was decent but some pieces were on the mushy side, like over pickled. Service was attentive. My sushi roll: rice was over cooked and roll stuck to the plate, ew. Tempura flakes were old and stale, not at all crunchy. Oily taste. And avocado was spoiled. Roll looked pretty, Just was boring at best, verging on gross at worst. Mt Fuji is *usually* pretty good (not great) and we have been ordering from there fairly regularly for months now, however they had a really off night on Fri April 15. -The avocado salad was mostly the inedible, almost white stalky stuff from the core of the lettuce head (come on, sacrifice a few cents and throw that part of the lettuce in the garbage); -The chicken in the yakitori appetizer was overcooked and under-seasoned, rubbery and tasteless; -And worst of all the tuna in the tri-sashimi was an off-putting grayish-red color rather than the deep red it should be -- and it didn't taste good at all. This fish was not fresh. Anyway this place isn't cheap -- it was a very disappointing takeout order, and they haven't responded to my follow-up email bringing this to their attention. So Mt Fuji is in my penalty box. read more

The service leaves room to be desired. the service is very disjointed, I made an online order. when I showed up the place was empty, the receptionist told me to have a seat as the order will be a ready in a few minutes. while sitting the waiter comes over with an attitude and basically asked me why I was there. I ordered the sushimi special (again it was the lunch special) which came to $21.00. Wow that's more than I pay for any sushi place at night. Just got back from this place and NEVER AGAIN !!!!!! We waited for a table for 20 minutes, then an hour for someone to take care of our table. It was my fiancee's 30th birthday. We had to talk to the manager twice to send someone to the table and nothing came out. If you have patients for this, go and watch the people across from the table play and have fun! This place is an outstanding business. The wait is very short because they have a lot of tables. There waiters make you feel appreciated. There snap peas are out of this world. So many different types of food, they have tons of different sushi rolls, if that's not your cup of tea (pun intended) they have lots of different types of preparation of meat, if you don't eat meat try the salads they are delicious. The food is good. The service is poor. I've been here three times and it takes forever for the food to arrive . Food comes out in random order. I needed a fork for my daughter and had to walk across the restaurant for the waitress' attention. Expensive. Mediocre shrimp teriyaki was $18.00! Finally, the kid ordered ice cream for dessert. 10 minutes later a different waitress brings us a melting bowl of it, explaining that their freezer is malfunctioning, and do I mind that the ice cream is like this? Kid's eyes are fastened on gooey ice cream, so I say fine. It taste it and it tastes old. Like freezer, and mildly gritty. The sushi is good. read more

The sushi here is fine. Certainly nothing to gush about, but it is mediocre suburban NJ sushi. I used to order delivery here fairly regularly when I was craving sushi and didn't want to leave my apartment (I mean, the delivery aspect was really the only reason I kept returning to this place). Tonight I called in my usual order, and was told that there is a "new delivery minimum" of $30. It must be VERY new, considering I ordered the same meal one week ago with no issue. Don't get me wrong... I understand the reason behind delivery minimums.... But when you've been ordering from the same place quite frequently without issue and all of a sudden-without warning- you can't anymore..... It's very annoying. Especially when you can't over-order sushi just to meet the minimum and keep the leftovers.... Needless to say, this place has lost my business. The food just isn't worth the $30 price tag for the convenience of delivery. read more

The dressing for the salad was yummy and my daughter loved the miso soup, edamame and vegetable/tofu udon noodle soup. We had a special roll that was all raw fish with no rice which was good. The tempura appetizer was delicious and so was the dessert. We ordered 3 orders of green tea and red bean ice cream. We were very satisfied. The service was gruff at times and mostly pretty attentive. I had a better time here for dinner than my last experience at lunch a few months back.
