I also really like how the gym is broken up into large sections but it doesn't have that big open box space feel where you feel like you're on display. I hate that feeling. Yet when I went to the Freehold, NJ spot, I was told they're "not really associated with Marlboro Crunch" and that my 24/7 access didn't apply there. I tried to resolve it through Marlboro Crunch directly. Asked for a manager's name. They refused. Asked the representative for her own name. She refused too. Total stonewalling. No accountability. No ownership. Just scripted evasiveness while my issue went nowhere. So let me get this straight. They sell a premium membership, deny the benefits, then hide behind anonymity when you ask who's responsible? That crosses the line from bad service into misleading business practices. I wouldn't recommend this gym chain to anyone. Broken promises, zero transparency, and a complete lack of professionalism. It feels like a scam wrapped in a membership card. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else.

There's something different about this Planet Fitness at night…read more John, who has been with Planet Fitness for about six years and has recently been covering the night shift, brings a personality to the gym that's hard to miss. Imagine a friendly-but-stern Bruce Willis working the front desk. The best way I can describe him is as a fitness DJ. "Hey, Mike!" Then another member walks in and John knows their name too. And another. He checks people in, remembers names, starts little conversations, and makes the interaction feel personal instead of transactional. That matters more than you might think, especially in a gym where most people are coming in after a long day and just trying to get their workout done. There's also a younger employee on the night shift who I regularly see cleaning, and I've genuinely noticed that the gym feels cleaner at night. The difference between shifts is noticeable. During some earlier shifts, there seems to be much less interaction with members, with employees sometimes looking down, talking among themselves, or spending time on their phones. At night, though, you feel acknowledged. John proves that good customer service doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's simply remembering someone's name, saying hello, sharing a quick conversation, and making people feel like they belong there. Give the night crew their flowers. They've earned them.
