Dan and his team did a fantastic job! He replaced our carpeted stair case with beautiful wood floors and refinished our existing wood floors, all while we were out of town. He is trustworthy and does exceptional work! I had a lot of questions and changed my mind on things and Dan was patient and responsive throughout the process. So my 85 year old grandmother got suggested this guy to do 5 rooms for about $3400. The guy did only 3 rooms, didn't start for about 2 and a half weeks when he said he'd be done in 1. Basically ripped her off. We don't recommend. read more

Please do your homework and DO NOT hire Kingdom Hardwood Floors. We used Dan Hill (Kingdom Hardwood Floors) two times prior and were very happy with his work which is why I did not hesitate to call him when I had another job. I am not sure what has changed with the company but I really wish I had read the new reviews before hiring him again. I called Dan at the end of June to come out and take a look at some damage I had done to our hardwood floors. He responded very quickly and came right out to give me an estimate. He said the job was not a big deal and he could start the following week. He gave me an estimate of $350.00 and required a deposit of $200.00. The following week when he was supposed to start he left a voice message saying that he would have to start a day later than expected as he was waiting on a part for his machine. I called that evening to double check that he would be arriving the following morning as I was planning to board my dog so she would not be in the way and he confirmed he would be there by 9:00. At roughly 9:00 the next morning he said he was hung up in traffic and would be there in a few minutes. That's when the real problems started. I received another text that he had been in an accident and wouldn't be able to start until the following day. It was one excuse after the next... He rescheduled or no showed at least 7 times. at one point I asked if he could refer another flooring company to complete the work. He replied that he really wanted to do the work himself and could I wait an additional week. I told him I could but I never heard from him so I asked for my deposit back which he said he would send back immediately. Three months later after sending him my address twice reminding him numerous times I still have not received my deposit back. At this point I feel like he just stole $200.00 from me. read more

Buyer beware. Had hardwoods done in October and it's been a true nightmare since. Came home to rough sanded hardwoods stain had wood particles, dirt, and anything else left on floor under the stain. They where supposed to do 3 coats they did 1 and tried to get away with it. They came back after a ton of calling and made burn marks, stain paint can mark in my floor ect. Came to repair again after tons of calling put a shiny coat on half my floor and a dull coat was left on my other half. Poor installation of hardwoods on my stairs. They now will not return my calls & am now seeking legal advise. 4 weeks of moving furniture in and out tons of damage and they took their money and will not repair. Always not showing up, no return calls, damaged floors and when you do get a hold of them they say their car is broke. Do not trust Dan or his son they are not honest and do a horrible job. read more

Had my hardwood floors refinished by this company June 22-25, 2015. Also, I had a brand new hardwood floor installed in the kitchen. Subsequently, a section of the kitchen floor developed a problem from a refrigerator leak; so, I called the owner on July 1, 2015 to come and assess the situation. Called and texted him for two weeks with no visit to the house. Said he would come on a certain day and never did. One of his associates finally showed up August 4, 2015 and identified a moisture problem. He came back on August 7 and discovered the the moisture was from a leak in refrigerator. He estimated an additional $ 200.00 to repair the damaged part of the that part of the kitchen floor,and to re-sand and re-poly. I paid him for the replacement wood and servicing up front. (big mistake) It is now August 28, 2015 and after numerous phone calls (most of which were ignored) and text messages (many of which were ignored), still the floor is not completed. It needs one more coat of poly and the owner is no where to be found. Two months have now passed since I alerted him to the problem of the damaged floor (not his fault) but I have been ignored, lied to and ignored to resolve this additional problem. My husband and I decided to upgrade our home by having hardwoods installed in 3 bedrooms and livingroom. Kingdom hardwoods was the 3rd flooring company that we called for a free estimate. Mr. Hill came personally to give us our estimate and go over what would be done step by step. He was very professional and friendly, not to mention kid friendly. We explained to him that we had a few others to meet with and would let him know within a week. We decided to go with Kingdom Hardwood floors since the price was reasonable and the owner was very professional and kind. They started the job a week later, his crew and self were very thorough and friendly. Very professional. I recently purchased a new home and these guys did such a wonderful job on my dining room and living room floors. I had to stay with friends and family while the work was being done and it was only for about a week i was very surprised at how fast they where done. Other estimates said it would take them about 3 weeks so i was very surprised. The new floors was just what my new house needed it made it look and feel modern and homey. Unprofessional and disorganized. We were one room's floors sanded down. We had already ripped up the vinyl that was over them. The owner came in and gave us a low estimate and he came recommended from a flooring store, so that's why we went with him. But he didn't write up a formal estimate for us. He said he was working on a job nearby and could start work in a few days. On the day he was supposed to come, he said he would not be able to make it. When he did send someone, they added $100 onto the cost for extra work they didn't foresee. Also, that day, when I got home, I saw the worker who used our bathroom left the hot water running. The next day, they were supposed to sand the floors and put the first coat of stain on. But they weren't able to finish sanding because there was still prep work they needed to do. Two days later, they were again supposed to finish sanding and stain. The worker finished the prep work and said the owner would be back to finish sanding and staining. When we finally got ahold of the owner, he said he wouldn't be able to make it back. the next day, they showed up at 2 pm when they said they would be there at 11. They finally finished sanding and put the first coat of stain on. The next day, they came to finish the project but then they added an extra coat of stain and said they would return Thursday to finish buffing and put the coat of polyurethane. They never showed up. They said they would be done on Friday. Friday they never showed up. They didn't show up Saturday either. They finally finished two weeks after they started. It's a small room and could have been done in two days. We had friends who had their entire house done in less time than it took us to have one small room done. It was a frustrating process that cost us more time and money than we anticipated and budgeted for. Floors look fine, but I'm so tainted by the experience, I can't even enjoy them. Let me start by saying I'd much rather be writing a good review so I would have someone to recommend to my friends and family. Unfortunately this review is on the other end of the spectrum. I hired Kingdom Hardwoods to install brand new unfinished maple hardwood floors. First,Dan the owner told me I needed 1150 sq ft of flooring and that the wood supply guy would call me and get my credit card number over the phone. No one called me so Dan asked for my credit card number and said he would buy the wood. When the wood arrived the receipt was for 1026 sq ft of wood. But Dan had charged me for 1150 sq ft of wood at over $4 per sq foot.Dan never returned the difference to me. Now, onto the job, they are supposed to be a dustless company. That is a joke my entire house was covered in dust. They cut the trim in a manner that several seems were very visible then used silicone caulk to try and hide the seems. Which silicone caulk is for external use as it can not be painted over. I hired professional painters to paint the walls and the trim and they said there is no way to paint over silicone because it won't adhere to it. When I told Dan this he played dumb and told me no one else ever had a problem with it. He finally admitted that he messed up but proceeded to tell me he did that for free anyways so he shouldn't have to fix it. Wow...really?!?! I couldn't believe my ears. Well actually he text me this so I guess I couldn't believe my eyes. After this botch job and trying to relieve himself of any blame I decide to check the floors closer. Upon a closer examination I see that there are spaces between much of the planks. So much so that I can stick thick pieces of paper between them. Dan originally told me that he would be putting 2 coats of poly on them and that it would be enough to make it smooth. He was wrong. When I told him about this problem he told me he had put 3 coats on. When I told him that he was lying because I specifically remember him telling me 2 coats he became defensive and extremely belligerent. After going back and forth via text he even went as far as saying "F*** off and get a life. Leave me the f*** alone." I now have to pay someone else to fix his mess and recoat the floor so it is properly protected. He also told me he sued someone for slander that gave him a bad review and got $5k from them. I guess this was his attempt to stop me from posting this. Guess what Dan, I have plenty of proof of everything I said including pictures, texts and estimates to fix your incompetence so please try to sue me. I should have looked at these reviews prior to hiring Dan Hill. Pay attention! He will quickly meet with you and give you an estimate for your job. He low bids and then will ask for more money to complete the project. He does not return calls. He will agree to meet you and does not show up. It was weeks before the third coat of finish was applied to my floor. And that was after multiple requests, and complaints to the Better Business Assoc. and a Federal consumer agency. Also, he had sanded under the refrigerator but never applied stain. 2 stairs were left unfinished. New floor boards were cut too short and did not meet the walls, so gaping holes were visible. Polyurethane was puddled in spots. Damage to wall board. We also had to replace quarter round ourselves which he said his "Crew" would do. And now I am aware that he is doing the same thing to a colleague of mine. It was for sure THE MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE I have ever had dealing with contractors. If you hire him, do not expect the job to go smooth or have a satisfying end product. He takes your money and starts another project, leaving your contracted job unfinished. I preferred to choose zero stars because of the angst he caused and the poor quality of workmanship, but in order to post, it forced me to at least pick one. read more

My wife and I read many reviews and had many estimates before hiring Kingdom. We chose them because 1) they had a fair price 2) the owner (Dan) was personable and answered all our questions and 3) their website was more professional than some of the others. Initially, I was concerned regarding some of the reviews I read. The owner assured me he had made changes since those reviews (e.g. now offers dustless service). He also was confident he could adhere to our busy work schedules. During the work, a few stains required boards to be replaced and there was a day the weather didn't cooperate and there was some streaking in the finish. The owner quickly recognized and fixed these issues. Otherwise, everything looked/looks great! They even helped me with a trim issue I was working on at the same time because they had a tool for it! Our home was completed to our specifications on time. Their entire team was friendly and professional. The craftsmanship of the replaced boards is fantastic (thanks Joe) and overall the floors look amazing. I would recommend this company by adding that if the customer notices an issue, be assured Kingdom will do everything they can to accommodate your needs. read more

Kingdom floors did a decent job of refinishing our pegged oak floor. 2 dozen of the pegs had popped out over the years and they found replacements. There was also some wood damage in the form of cracks and the tongue and groove came apart as the house had shifted. The were able to repair the damages which are not even visible now that the job is completed. However, after several weeks, the material he used started falling out. Obviously, they used a caulk that is not made for wood flooring. They gave me an written estimate on a Tuesday and said they would be there the following Monday morning at 8:30 am to begin the process. I had given them 50% as a deposit. As the week went on, I wondered if giving him money upfront was a mistake. The quote was competitive with other floor finishers that I had checked on as it included cost of repairing the damages that had occurred over the past 30 years in addition to the floor finishing. Precisely at 8:30 on that Monday the crew showed up and began moving out the furniture for me so that they could begin. They said it would be a two day project and the job was finished the next afternoon.as promised. The floor looks like new. They suggested sealing and polyurethaning the oak without a stain which would lighten up the room and boy were they right. The wood is now a nice honey-gold color. The floor looks as new as the day it was laid. On another note, Dan was supposed to come back after the weekend to help in bringing the furniture back into the house after I had a chance to replace all of the baseboard moulding without having to work around the furniture. He was also going to fix a small are that was sanded, but was overlooked when the finish was put down. He said he could fix that area quickly. He has still not returned more than a week after the work was done. In fairness to him, I asked him to wait until the following Monday to give me the weekend to do the moulding in the empty livingroom. He never came on that Monday. I called and left messages along with texting him to see when he would be back out to which he replied the next afternoon at 5pm. I got home to meet him, however hours went by and he never showed. No phone calls to say why he never made it. He was also supposed to give me a quote to replace some flooring in my kitchen and sun room and was going to bring me some samples. I scheduled several more appointments to come back out and he never showed up, never called or texted that he was not going to be there. At this point, I'm not sure if I am interested, based on the lack of reliability. The workmanship was top quality on the work that they did, however the reliabilty in the followup is questionable. I had another flooring project that I was going to have him do for me, but at this point I am going to look elsewhere. Dan does not seem to be a good businessman, very unreliable. I asked why he didn't call and he said "that is a good idea, I guess I should have". 1. After the company was given half of the job total up front ($1,700) and the flooring was delivered to my residence, we were told the design that we agreed upon in the contract could not be done. The owner also asked for more money to cover labor costs. 2. When I asked for my money back due the breach of contract with the design, the owner refused to give me back my money and said, "sue me". The owner was very agitated and belligerent on the phone. 3. Shortly after the heated "sue me" conversation in which I asked for the invoice for the flooring to be provided and a refund for the cost of the flooring over the invoice the owner quickly became "friendly" again offering a new floor design. 4. We agreed on the new floor design, as it seemed the easier way to go instead of going to small claims court and housing the flooring in my living room. 5. A worker from the company came to my house and installed the floor over a three day period, the floor seemed to look okay and I paid the worker $1,300 of the reaming $1,700 balance. My mother who was home gave him the check and I held back $400 until I inspected the finish product. 6. I was told I could pay the remaining $1,700 with a credit card when the initial paperwork was signed but the owner informed me he changed credit card companies and I had to pay by check or cash. 7. The owner also wanted the check made out to the individual who did my floor since he subcontracted the floor to him. 8. The individual who did my floor is the owner's son-in-law and works for the owner, not sure why the owner was insistent that the check be made out to his employee. 9. Upon final inspection of my floor there were considerable uneven patches on the floor, a large dark spot on the floor, large cracks in the floor that were partially filled with huge amounts of wood filler and the floor was not sanded. 10. Company did not do the wood design or use the proper stain as agreed upon in the contract. After I had another company look at the floor I immediately stopped payment on the check for $1,300, as I believed the cost to fix and repair the floor would well exceed the remaining $1,700 left to be paid on the flooring. I had two more flooring companies come to my house to give me estimates on how much it will be to finish and repair the floor. Both companies could not believe the floor was professionally installed. The reason I am not open to have Kingdom Hardwood Flooring come back into my home to work on the floor is due to the fact that the employee said the floor was done and left the job site. Secondly, my family and I are personally scared of the owner of Kingdom Hardwood Flooring after the violent demeanor he displayed on the phone. read more

Where do I even start... this has been an absolute nightmare for me. It started by only going with him because my boyfriend knew him from passing, he gave us a quote, included in the quote was repairing two spaces that had planks over them (old heater vent). When the time came for the work to be done, right off the bat he said he needed $75 more for the material because something unforeseen happened. So we okay'ed it (the 'proposal' was not revised on paper of course), then it came to him saying there was no chance that the floors would look right because there was too much damage, so we had to pay extra for a dark stain. So there is another $100. We also paid for 5 extra top coats to help prevent scratching because we have a dog. The work took 2 days longer than he said it would. He scratched our brand new keypad with his equipment while coming in the door, broke our storm door, and claimed that it wasn't them that did it...(laughing in disbelief) I called him out on it and he still did not confess. He did not stain some spaces off the bat which I addressed with him, which he offered to fix, but never showed up to do. There are stains on our baseboards and on the metal piece that separates the entry ways. The best part of this is how terrible our floors look. After less than one month, the stain has wore in two huge spots. Called him and told him and he said all he has to do is buff it and it will only cost $63! (this wouldn't even solve the problem anyways because they need to re-stain and seal!) The nerve that he has to try to charge me for 'fixing' his awful work... I had a wood expert that i trust come and look and was told he did not allow time for the wood to heal and he did not even put 2 top coats on. This was the absolute worst experience, please do not ever go to this guy. Spend the money and get it done by someone who has a good reputation it will save you the money in the long run, I have to get my floors COMPLETELY redone... and i am not letting this poor excuse of a 'company' step foot anywhere near them. read more

It is unfortunate that we had a similar experience as Joe C. We have tried to contact this company several times. They said they would show to correct the problems with our refinished floors, but they did not on the scheduled date. We even left the house and incurred additional costs to be absent. They never showed nor did they call us to explain why. They will not return our calls at this point. It is clear that they do not intend to do the right thing.. This is truly disheartening. I think a red flag should be that their email address from their website is inaccurate. When you try to correct it and send another email thinking it was a simple typo, you will never get a response. The only response I received was when I posted on his facebook page to contact me. He then sent me a message immediately with "hello." I immediately responded back that we would like him to contact us, but he did not respond. Not really surprised at this point. Promises made and never kept. Scheduling times/dates for work to commence and/or be completed - numerous no shows. My walls were knicked in various areas, my newly refinished baseboards were wrecked, a chuck of wood missing in one section. Prior to the commencement of work, I had removed ALL furniture and appliances, since the kitchen, hallway, bedroom and living room were being done. I had one dining room table that I made space for in my sunroom. After repeated conversations on how I was worried about it, the agreed to remove the top of the table from the legs and relocate it in my sunroom. (Table was too wide for the small entry thru the door.) While at work, they did NOT do this! They squeezed it thru the doorway, scaping the NEW table and legs and wrecking the newly refinished doorway as well. Corners on the floor in some areas, have no stain. Would never, ever consider using them again. Very unprofessional. I requested they come back and remove the stain that dripped on my exterior, limestone stairs. Has never happened, and this was back in the summer of 2015. Writing letter to Better Business Bureau as he has yet to make any corrections. read more
