Horrible customer service. This guy only texted me and never once called. When he said to pay 1st and had my supervisor go there in person no one was at the nursery. I was told to try another grower.

    What a clown show. LOL

Messaged him from Craigslist about a plum tree. Asked if he has a satsuma plum in stock, size and price. Responds that He doesn't have it in stock but offers info about needing an additional tree as the particular tree I was inquiring about is not self pollinating. Well no shit, if I'm looking for that type of tree, which is fairly obscure, I already know. While I don't mind free advice, it doesn't require a response especially when he doesn't have the tree I'm looking for. A day later I get a text why I didn't thank him for his advice. (Well dipshit, I didn't ask for it). I honestly didn't know who is was since my toddler likely deleted his text. I asked, who is this? He then says he's blocking me for being an idiot. Lol... he's an absolute loaded shotgun. I can't believe his business still operates...I'd stay away, nurseries are a dime a dozen.

A great Fuerte and Reed Avocado Tree.

Kingmans's had a great selection of Avocado and Fruit trees. I bought a nice Reed and Fuerte, and the Haas was 8 feet tall in a 15-gallon container! It's well worth finding this hidden gem - a couple all the way from East county was there when I visited. Aside from great plants, John, the owner, had great advice on the planting process. If you want a great Avocado of practically an variety - or other fruit trees - Kingman's is a great resource! 5 stars for 5-star trees!

DONT GO HERE!! I would give negative stars if I could. It's started by me calling around to different nurseries on a Sunday. Even though some nurseries were open for business, nobody seemed to answer the phone. I called Kingmans AvoCitrus nursery I believe twice, nobody answered I figured they were busy so I hung up the phone. I called back to try an reach someone (before I realized they were closed on Sunday) and this time I listened to the voicemail, John the owner of Kingman leaves his cell number to call. I called it and no answer so I text some questions about some trees he has listed on an ad on Craigslist stating that he has Lime trees 15gal for $77.50. He responded to my text stating the price was $195. TOTAL BAIT N SWITCH!!! BEWARE. Obviously, I asked why the large discrepancy in price and he sends me a stock text back. I asked again and got the same stock text that had nothing to do with my questions I had. For example; how tall are they and are they currently bearing fruit. This morning out of nowhere I received a text littered with profanities and other foul language (see attachment). I did a little research and turns out this John Kingman character is a complete psychopath, numerous complaints about the BAIT N SWITCH and him screaming at customers. His nursery isn't taken care of, his stock is all dying or in poor health. I think he's a sad man because the nurseries around him are far superior to his nursery. DO YOU WANT TO BE YELLED AT? OR DECEIVED INTO BUYING UNHEALTHY PLANTS OR TREES? THEN KINGMAN'S AVOCITRUS IS THE PLACE. READ THE TEXTS. Go to CLAUSEN NURSERY it's right down the road from this nightmare. No bait n switch at CLAUSEN'S and they have 5 stars on yelp and Google

Avo, Peach, Dorset Apple. Love them!!!

I Just bought three trees on Monday and couldn't be happier. This guy is the real deal- no frills or silly up charging for fancy additions. He has beautiful healthy plants with big fruit and it is clear John really knows his stuff. I drove 2 hours to get a "fruiting avocado" and he gave me a screaming deal for 3 actual FRUITING trees (Avo, Peach, Apple). Oh and they are big! I'm impressed we got them in the jeep. He also gave me samples of fruit from his other trees, which was fun, I couldn't hold them all :) I only wish I could have fit more in the Jeep! Will definitely be driving back to buy more trees in the future, and am so thankful for his smart, invaluable advice on my tree care. He was very helpful and fair to me and I felt like I was visiting a friend. I've been telling everyone about this place! These negative reviews are obnoxious- John has a strong personality and good sense of humor- don't get offended or feisty so quickly people.... I agree with Walter F's review. Know what you want and you will get Fantastic trees!!

    GEM avocado tree

Five Stars only because I couldn't give more. Super friendly and full of advice. I love supporting small business because of the attention to details. I purchased the hard to find GEM avocado and got way more than I paid for. Going back for my future needs.

Lots of avocados coming in on the four year old Haas from Kingmans.

I brought a couple of 4-year old avocado trees from Kingmans a couple of years ago. They are doing great and will have a good harvest this fall. What I want to share is how helpful they have been over there since the purchase. John helped with planting tips and more recently with other questions I had. He is proud of the trees he grows and happy to know they are doing well. If you are looking for someone who loves his trade and cares what happens after the trees are sold, Kingmans AvoCitrus is the place to go. Thank you John

Wish I could give half a star. I emailed John the owner about a $200 avocado tree that is $70 for delivery. So not a small purchase. I emailed a couple times asking questions and then let it go a couple days. He replied back with the attached email. He emailed avocados for fags. For a subject And the said did you get enough free information you fag.. Holy crap what an idiot. Glad I didn't give him money.

Unfortunately, we lived in Encinitas so the climate didn't allow the avocado to thrive but she loved getting Asian/Hawaiian plants, and fruits from this nursery. The scene that will greet you is a dirt path and two-sided parking spaces. Try them, very wooded and dense, like you are in the forest, which I loved since I am from back East and we have huge trees and green wooded areas. The staff are very knowledgeable and the value is great. If your plant doesn't grow, call them, and they guide you or replace the plant. I love this place. If I had a house, I would be here for my roses and fruit plants.

There's a fruit tasting table and I remember the first time I came in and tasted some fruit I'd never even heard of before. If you're a foodie or if you enjoy rare or tropical fruit or even if you're a fan of botanical gardens, this place is amazing It's a mom and pop place (actually just a pop place cause I think the owner Steve who started it still runs it by himself). The sign said they have been here since the 80s. Anyway because it's a small nursery and open 7 days a week, it's a good idea to call if you're planning to make a long journey to visit just to make sure they haven't stepped out. It's usually fine but I see people on other reviews have come in from far away without calling and it's just a good idea to call if it's a mom and pop nursery and you have a long drive. My favorite fruit was white sapote, cherimoya, the bazillions of types of guavas they have, ice cream bean was delicious, and I never knew palms have delicious fruit (what????). I come about twice a year from San Diego and as San Diego nurseries go, this place is in a league of its own. I even just like walking around in there to relax cause it's almost like a fruit botanical garden. And some of the small stuff is very affordable Highly recommend if you have a few hours free to explore this place. It's a great nursery -- kinda like the Garden of Eden!

We came in at the very beginning of landscaping a new build, which meant a blank slate and a lot of questions. Nathan took the time to walk us around the yard, show us what was available, and give us real options instead of just pointing at whatever he wanted to move that day. He was genuinely knowledgeable about the plants, what they would do in our space, and what made sense for the look we were going for. He was also friendly and understanding about our budget and our timeline, which we appreciated. We started with a variety of plants to get the project going, and we have gone back several times since for trees and shrubs. Every visit has been the same experience: good advice, no pressure, and someone who clearly enjoys what he does. Great guy to work with. If you are planning a landscape project, ask for Nathan.

For the Bougainvillea, he suggested planting in the ground. We dug a hole twice as wide as the root ball, left the plant in its original plastic grow pot, and just cut off the bottom and slashed the sides. Moon Valley and Patrick's attentive service and help really has brought our little patio garden to life.
