We rented Kings' Chapel and club house for our wedding and reception. It is the most charming beautiful place! It was a perfect beautiful fit for our wedding! The wedding was great and beautiful so i feel like giving it 5 stars, but the business side of things were a little off.
I signed the contract stating i had the chapel for rehearsal from 4-6 on Friday and 2 weeks before the wedding my coordinator called to tell me they booked a last minute wedding at 5pm that friday so i needed to be finished with rehearsal early. At first i thought no big deal, but then realized we had already sent out invitations for the rehearsal dinner which was to start immediately after the rehearsal. I would not have time to call each invitee and let them know the time had changed, nor was i able to change our reservations at the restaurant. I had my coordinator speak with KC and they worked everything out. I'm glad there was no problem, but they shouldn't have double booked the venue 2 weeks out.
Also, after rehearsal we were supposed to put all our decor in the club house so that our coordinator could set it all up that night. However, the Friday night wedding (who we were told was not using the club house) was all set up for their reception. I had to store all our decor in the pool bathroom. Not exactly where i wanted to keep everything.
We were to receive our deposit refund two weeks after the wedding. When we got back from our honeymoon i e-mailed the office with our new address telling her to send it there. She said she already mailed it to the address on our contract (my old apartment). I told her that was no problem because i had filed to have all mail forwarded. A couple weeks went by and still no check. I e-mailed again asking about it and they said just give it more time. I was receiving all other forwarded mail. Eventually (6 weeks) i spoke with them and they said they didn't know what happened and they would put a stop on the check and mail me another one to our current address. I was being patient. When i received the new check there was a sticky note that said "sorry my bank charged me $36 for a stop payment fee" and our deposit refund was less $36. I was back and forth with them for a week about who's responsibility it was to pay that $36. As the customer who just gave them thousands of dollars and did everything correct on our end, i don't see that it's my job to pay your banks fee. For all i know they forgot to mail the first check and it's sitting on her desk. Unless that first check was in my possession, it is not my responsibility. They went back and forth with me saying it wasn't their fault and they "had to make a special trip to the bank and fill our a form, so for all the work [they] had to do, $36 is actually a pretty minimal fee for [me]". i finally got her to split the fee with me. It's not the end of the world, it's just bad business.
The venue is gorgeous and it's nice that they supply you with an event coordinator. All of that was great! It's just the business side that was frustrating for us. read more
