I called H Ironworks and spoke with Kevin about fabricating a custom steel cable tension brace to support a shade sail spanning about 35 feet. He and his father came out to my house, listened to what I was trying to accomplish, took measurements, and then went back to the shop to figure out the best way to build it. About a week later they returned for a test fit, and everything lined up perfectly. The following week they brought it back powder coated, and I couldn't have been happier. The workmanship was outstanding--beautiful finish, clean welds, and it looked like it had always belonged there. Just as important, Kevin and Hamlet are genuinely nice people. I'm the Board President of…read moremy condominium and our community has decided to have a gated door installed in the front and back entrance to our garage. Simon showed me pictures of his work on Facebook and Yelp, and we brainstormed on a design that would be the most appropriate for the theme of our condominium. Ultimately, I decided on a simple design, agreed on a price much lower than the proposals I received from other contractors, and scheduled a date/time. His schedule was already booked for a month at that time so he kept in touch with me with updates throughout the wait so I didn't feel out of the loop. And I was ok with waiting since booked schedules meant his business is in demand and thriving. They use All American Metal. Other iron works companies cuts corners by using metals that are made in China. What I was most impressed was the day of installation. I can have an extreme type A personality and if the work is not done exactly how I envisioned it to be, I will verbalize my concern until I get what I want. It's beneficial for me and my community, but it can be very stressful for the other team. Even then, Simon and his team satisfied my ego trip. I wanted the gate to be flushed to a pillar/wall, a certain height/depth, and color. I wanted the door to be a specific size, open at a certain angle, and the door knob to have the same lock as the main front gate. Simon and his team did them all without any signs of pushback. I made some outrageous demands but he kept his cool and both parties were satisfied. He will be working on a gate for my front patio next.
