Spacious restaurant with a toned down vibe. Bunch of Chinese diners, which I think were probably tourists. We ordered Wagyu steak and lamb chops. The lambs were soooo delicious. Crunchy outside and tender inside. The Wagyu was good, but a bit too fatty. Had to cut down the fat with a lot of wine sippings, and sharing it with my wife helped. Definitely recommended read more

I'm in Australia and looking for kangaroo, camel and lamb. Found the kangaroo and lamb on the posted menu earlier in the day when walking by, so returned later that night for dinner. I'm assuming Kingsley is an area steakhouse chain- that's the vibe I got. More tourists than locals. The main dining area isn't huge, but is built around an open kitchen. There's a private dining room downstairs where the restrooms are. It looked fabulous. Service and staff was great. They answered all our questions about the wines and specialty meats. We started with a local wine from their list. Why try anything else ? The area has some fantastic wines. The lamb and kangaroo were both a perfect medium rare, well seasoned and so tender. Quality is not good. Any good steakhouse only needs a butter knife to cut the steak. Service was horrific! There were about 2:3 servers per customer, and service was inattentive. Clearly this place is a tourist trap resting on its award laurels from 10+ years ago. Would never go back, and shame on what they are selling at premium prices. Went back yesterday. Everything was going great until they served our food. They had switched our orders. I ordered a medium rare steak I received a medium well and my friend received a medium rare steak. We brought it to the attention of the waiter who said they would recook our orders. When we got our food both of our orders were under cooked. The orders were fine the first time just the cooks plated them wrong. Now our steak were under cooked the second time. If it was a $20 rump steak no problem but our bill was $180 and they gave us $30 off for the inconvenience. The kitchen staff needs to be replaced or retrained. No going back. Ridiculous! read more

Hit-or-miss at every step of food & service. The Sydney Rock Oysters were a nice start. The Wagga Wagga Angus Eye Fillet was delicious! We ordered medium-rare and it was more on the rare side, but was tender and flavorful. The Grasslands Pasture-Fed Ribeye was a disappointment though - a little tough and under-seasoned. The pepper sauce was delicious but the béarnaise sauce was blander than any béarnaise from New York or Paris. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable, but she was also the ONLY waitstaff working the entire dinner service so everyone got little attention after their initial order. She had seating customers, taking orders, cutting bread, setting silverware, settling checks, and delivering wine. It took us an age to get our check after we finished our main courses (we skipped dessert because it took so long!). Dined 10 Dec 2022 - Terrible customer service & experience - food poisoning, every 30 minutes throwing up for 14 hours. I approached their Restaurant manager - who did not want to help me at all unless I provided my medical details from my doctor (like seriously? I made it up?) For a 'A Class' resturant - I am aboslutely astounded how they treat loyal customers. I have been going there for over 20 years, will now be telling my Sydney network of friends and work colleagues to avoid such a poor customer focussed organisation, what happened to looking after your customers first... read more

Work booked out a private room at Kingsley's for us to enjoy ourselves after yet another busy period. FOOD The menu was set with a choice of two different mains and dessert. I think all the girls chose the Petite Fillet (160g) whilst all the guys chose the Rib-Eye (300g) bar my pregnant colleague who has the luxury of eating for two. To be honest the steaks weren't anything you couldn't get at another steakhouse. The dessert was a choice between the crème brulee or the pavlova. The initial crack through the caramel set off my sweet buds but by the middle of it I was getting impatient with how long my tea was taking as I wanted something a bit bitter to break up the sweetness. OVERALL I had an enjoyable night but more due to the private room and service rather than the food. read more

As a tourist, I wanted to try kangaroo. This place popped up in my search as a nicer steakhouse, so we figured why not? The inside of this place is very nice, and service was great. Kudos to the server who put up with the many questions my group was asking. I was getting annoyed for him. He earned this place an extra star. I can't remember everything my group ordered, but I do know what I got to try. I shared a plate of the kangaroo loin, the wagyu steak, and the chocolate pudding with my cousin. The texture of the meat dishes were perfect. The flavor, on the other hand, not so much. The kangaroo was too peppery, and the wagyu steak was too salty. I get that over-seasoning is better than under seasoning, but for the price and reputation of this place? It definitely missed the mark for me. Dessert was yummy though, so we ended the meal on a good note. Doubt I'll be in the area again, but if I was, I wouldn't be coming back to this particular steakhouse. read more

Tucked away in a magnificent historic sand stone building off King St, I was expecting a pleasant night as I stepped into Kingsleys'. What a shock when I stepped in. The decor was reminiscent of a suburban RSL or a local pub with a casino room. The photoshop guys did a great job with the official photos online - but the real life view of the restaurant is nothing like the photos. The food was also stuck in the 80s / 90s - a piece of steak on a white round plate with chips / mash on the side. No attempt to modernise the presentation or come up with more inventive dishes. I had come here with a discount voucher and now understand why a discount was offered. The only customers they probably get are the unsuspecting first-timers, tourists, and the unfortunate diners who couldn't get in at a nearby fully-booked restaurant. A sign of a good restaurant is repeat customers (and word of mouth recommendations by repeat customers). Kingsleys' needs to get their act together to have any hopes of retaining their customers. read more

I am not sure if I am really qualified for a proper review as I was taken here for a work lunch, but I did like my steak. I asked for medium rare and that it was. It was not too bloody either meaning they must have aged it properly or something, but hey, a 300 gram rib eye is always a pleasure. I had the creme brulee for dessert and it had a nice crack to it and you could see the specs of vanilla. It could have been a wee bit colder, but it was very nice. I would have given it a 5, but the service was a little lacking. I was brought the wrong kind of potato (I asked for mash, but got baked). I was able to swap with a coworker thankfully. Again, this might have been because it was a work do, which can be pretty daunting (sitting at a table of 20 people). read more

I don't know why this place is getting such mixed reviews. I ordered the ribeye (the Brooklyn ribeye, in fact. A curious fact, for I live in Brooklyn. I wonder if Brooklyn means something else in Australia, as I see it all over the place, including on t-shirts). It was flawless and the portion size was great. Great location. Love the layout of the main floor: sandstone walls, with a clear view into the open kitchen. Despite a good amount of tables and other patrons, the place was not noisy. The service was outstanding, but not overbearing. Staff were there when I needed them but didn't pester me. Food was a mix of amazing (pork belly starter $18.90 - best I've had), really good (chocolate mousse cake with chili ice cream), to really good after seasoning (300 g rib eye surf and turf $39.90 and 400 g NY cut striploin for $42.90). Both steaks were tender and cooked to perfection - but just calling our for some salt and pepper. Their beer selection was limited, but good quality. I had two Mexican beers I hadn't tried before (Day of the Dead - both a blonde and a Heffe for $9.90/bottle). Honestly, if the steak had been seasoned a bit before hitting the grill, this would be a 5 star review, but it just wasn't there. Sorry, Dan, it's another 4 star from me. read more

This restaurant offers a very nice environment and an interesting contrast being a quite old house in the CBD area. Very warmly treated by the staff and reasonable prices for a steakhouse. I went to Kingsleys steakhouse for their CAAB dinner. An evening showing off their certified Australian angus beef. It was to showcase the use of the beef and in raw, smoked and grilled forms. The night started with some mingling and tasting the wines from Pollin and Pollin. A really nice Chardonnay - especially so, as I am not normally a chardonnay drinker. Canapés included bloody mary oyster shooters with cucumber pearls as well as seared beef and nori rolls with hot and sour dipping sauce. We took our seats and the whole venue was full of people here for the special dinner. We heard speeches from the past CEOs and it was interesting to hear about the history of the product and Kingsleys was the first place to offer Certified Australian Angus beef. The first dish was carpaccio. According to the first CEO, carpaccio is the best beef dish that is possible to eat, for texture, flavour in the beef which is the way to enjoy it. It was bloody delicious. Accompanied with beautifully cut and picked vegetables and a watercress purée. Also beautifully presented. Kingsleys was the first ever restaurant to produce certified angus beef. The second dish was a smoked CAAB brisket with parmesan filled choux buns and a sherry vinegar jus. The choux pastries were quite possibly the tastiest thing i've eaten! Wow!! A beautiful The main course was CAAB rump, eye fillet and rib eye on the bone, served with lemon, herb baby chat potatoes, artichokes which I loved!! There were sides of baby gem lettuce with heirloom tomatoes and feta. Just when you think you're full, a platter of cheeses come out - my favourite food. There were three types with chutney, jam, artisan sourdough and lavosh. This dinner as a whole was spectacular. read more

A very nice, if somewhat noisy, restaurant in a trendy part of town. A few 'date night' couples, birthday parties and groups of business men having dinner on the day we went. The food was very good, if a bit pricey. I had a small steak (surf and turf = small steak 160g and 3 prawns). The potato was bigger than my steak. The wine list was also very good. Sides are lovely and damper was soft and butter was very nice. The only downers were: we had booked a table for 6.30pm, but my colleague's flight was delayed and we rang to change the booking to 8pm. However, they lost our booking and made us wait 30 minutes for a table and didn't believe us when we said we had rung to change the booking. Also, the waiter we had upstairs was an uptight, condescending, self-righteous prig. My colleague finished his meal and did not put his knife and fork exactly parallel. The waiter told him off for this as 'this did not indicate to me that you have finished your meal so I don't know when to clear the table'. Seriously? This really put a dampener on our evening and ruined what could have been a good score. read more

Beautiful historic building with a lovely rustic interior. I love how all the delicious steaks are enclosed in a front cold cabinet. My waitress Vicki was very knowledgeable with the menu and she was very helpful and highly attentive. The menu is great with a nice variety of meats - pasture and grain fed as well as a la carte dishes to choose from. I highly recommend the Charcuterie board and the Havericks Dry Aged beef NSW - Dry Aged rib on bone pasture fed 400gm. My pick for dessert is the Dark chocolate pudding with white chocolate and raspberry ripple ice cream! read more
