My cat had a UTI, needed to be seen by a vet ASAP, and my regular clinic was not able to accommodate us. I called multiple clinics in the area, trying to avoid the cost of an emergency vet visit and travel, and Kingston Veterinary Clinic was the only place willing to squeeze us in (an hour before close too)! Upon arrival, they were extremely kind and worked quickly to get my cat the care she needed. The staff was so friendly and clear in their directions for her care, even in their directions for how to get to the clinic. I called this office today hoping to get my grand dog a wellness visit. She is 15 years old and has terrible cough that ends with a gag. Other than that she hasn't been herself, barking at nothing and not sleeping much. The inconsiderate woman who answered the phone should have just hung up on me. That probably wouldn't have been better than the way she treated me. I took my 3 dogs, 2 cats and a litter of 7 puppies to this man who gave them all their shots and i had 5 of them nuetued and spayed as well. 3 of them micro chipped plus regular visiting over the years. This woman after my pleading refused to schedule a visit for a senior dog because of a time restriction. I asked her if she would please ask the doctor who I thought would remember me and my family. She called me back in 5 minutes and said to me, "Dr said no, it has been too long since the last visit here," So my grand dog has to suffer because the other animals have past away, that's why I haven't nagain he took my money to have them put down read more

I've been taking my Boston terrier to Dr Kaufer for about 5yrs. Now. He and his staff has been very professional and informative on just about anything we've asked him/his staff about the breed. Sometimes you need to speak when spoken to and listen more when it comes to the care of your pet. After all isn't that what we go there for? read more

Kingston Veterinary Clinic in Kingston, PA operated Dr. Kaufer misdiagnosed my dog with a sinus infection as he was bleeding internally. Called him this morning to discuss it and the chicken sh*t would not even get on the phone!! Shows how much he cares!! I would not recommend. The Kingston Vet Clinic has been like a second home to my animals for many years. As a child, this was where my mother took our pets and for the last 17 years this is where I continue have my pets treated. Dr. Kaufer and all of the staff have always treated me and my pets with respect and always answer any questions I have. They always make me feel welcome and are able to get me in for an appointment at the last minute. Dr. Kaufer is always straight to the point and gives great advice or alternatives when needed. I have unfortunately lost a few of my pets over the years to illness and the entire staff showed empathy and gave me and my family ample time to say our "goodbyes" and grieve while helping us dry our tears. I cannot say one bad thing about this clinic. I would recommend anyone who loves their pets and wants them to feel welcome at the veterinary office to go to see Dr. Kaufer and staff. I have recommended this clinic to many friends and family and they have all had the same experiences as I have. Dr. Kaufer and all his staff are TRUE animal lovers through and through. read more

This man is uncaring, unprofessional, mean, rude and demeaning to the owners. My mom was in tears when he yelled at her while in the exam room. She knows how to calm her cat at hold her and he threatened not to treat her cat if she didn't leave the room or stop trying to help hold the cat. She was upset about the cat's sudden bad turn in health and a little bedside manner, a "please" or an ounce of compassion would have gone a long way. He didn't even introduce himself as a good doctor would do with a new patient. He was practically strangling this scared and upset cat with the leash he had to put on her when she got away from him, dangling her in the air by her neck. Don't go here. Ever! read more

This was the absolute worse vet I have ever been to. I adopted a 9 week old kitten who I had not even had for a whole week and I had called them to check him out because they were the only place that can fit my in with in the hour. I am very disappointed to say we had to put our kitten down, however I am even more disappointed in the manner in which we were treated. The doctor was very rude and blunt. He had no consideration for my families feeling towards this kitten we had grown attached to having to be put down. He lacks manners and lacks a personality. If you are going to work with animals you also need to be people oriented to accommodate the families covering your pay check. Another comment for people going through this is the man seems money hungry. He charged us $45 for the visit, an additional $20 for him to put the kitten down, and another additional $50 for rabies testing (which he claimed to be 99% sure he didn't have) because he refused to put the cat down without the testing. He never even introduced himself to us just brought us in gave us the news and left the room leaving the receptionist to get our payment and tell us we were done. I have never been so disappointed or hurt during such a difficult time. I urge pet lovers to consider a different vet especially if your prognosis could possibly be bad. read more

My whole family and I have been clients of Dr. Richard Kaufer, Kingston Veterinary Clinic for 30 years. He has seen me and my family through some of the most difficult times over the years and has always been a wonderful doctor, friend and resource for me and my babies. He's scoured articles and other medical literature to provide my babies with the best possible outcome and I don't know what I would do without him. He knows my animals are the most important thing in the world to me and he and his wonderful staff always let me know how much they understand that. There's never been a time I've had an emergency he hasn't seen my animal that day or taken time to discuss a concern over the phone. Today was the first and the last time I will ever go to Kingston Veterinary Clinic. I made an appointment for my dog to go get a check up and a rabies shot. Everything was fine .... he played with kids , other dogs, and got lots of attention from everyone in the waiting room. Then he goes in the back .... gets the check up and the shot. And then the vet proceeds to tell me that I can no longer bring him there due to the fact that he is a pitbull! He said to me that " the only people who own pitbulls in this area are drug dealers and thugs who live in wilkes-barre that use them as a commodity not as a pet". I kept my cool (as hard as that was to do) and just asked if we were done so I can leave. Now anyone who has met My dog since we adopted him from the SPCA knows that he is the biggest baby and just loves everyone. He has not shown even the slightest sign of aggression towards adults, children, dogs, cats, and even a ferret. So for this man to sit there and judge him like that is completely ridiculous and unprofessional. Also, I am not a drug dealer, I work in corrections. read more
