A clean and simple looking to-go spot with nice service and very good food. The goat roti was very respectable but I really need to recommend the oxtail sandwich. That was just so unique in appearance, construction and flavour. An oxtail beef patty, and Caribbean style mac & cheese in bread that's a cross between Chinese bao and Mexican torta. I really did not stick to my resolution of not spending on Jamaican Food this year. I'm already probably $200 in the hole. I'm uncertain about how I feel about this place. I tried the jerk shrimp eggroll which I did enjoy. It was spicy, but it was extremely small for the price and they give you a few drops of sweet-and-sour sauce to eat it with and really you need that container to be full or I needed to have 2 because it was not enough. I also bought the popular oxtail sandwich. I don't know what I was thinking ordering that. I have never been a fan of Jamaican macaroni and cheese even as a child. I never choose macaroni as my side at any Jamaican restaurant. I was hoping that the oxtail overpowered the sandwich and it did not. They put most of the oxtail in the middle cross section, but when you deconstructed it, it's mostly dry macaroni and cheese. I'm not a person who likes to eat things together. If I buy a patty and Coco bread, I eat the cocoa bread separate from the patty, not the patty inside like a sandwich. I basically deconstructed it and tried to eat everything separate. It's Coco bread with a patty inside stuffed with oxtail and macaroni and cheese. I will say it is a hefty portion, as it should be for the price. It's enough either have 1/2 for one sitting and other later or two people can eat off of this one sandwich. I could not tell how the oxtail was flavored because it was so much macaroni and in mine once I took it apart. I will say I think the patty crust was good and you can't mess up Coco bread but I will not be re-ordering this. I will return and try other things but for me, this was just not it and I don't understand the hype. Creative sure, good, no. This for me would be amazing without macaroni in it. I recently visited Kingston Caribbean Restaurant off Candler Road in Decatur. While it wasn't the best Caribbean food I've ever had, it was still good and worth a try if you're in the area. The oxtails were flavorful and tender, the rice and peas were solid, and the cabbage had a nice texture. I didn't get a chance to fully explore the menu or ask questions about my order because it was a bit rushed, but I noticed they offer some creative specials like an oxtail and macaroni egg roll that I'll definitely be coming back to try. One thing to note is there's no sit-down dining inside, so plan to take your food to go. I also tried the guacamole. It was tasty but a very small portion for the price. I'm a fan. My cousins and I have decided that this is the spot to go when we're in the area. We came because she wanted their oxtail sandwich. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It looked amazing!! She absolutely loved it!! Kuddos for having some vegan options. That's a huge thing for me. Not only that, they had good vegan options that were yummy. I hate ordering at places and I taste it and it's disappointing because I could have cooked it better. My food was good. Veggie eggroll - loved these! Really good with the spicy sauce that came with it. Brown stew tofu with rice and peas and plantains. Yumm!! The portion was huge and I had plenty of leftovers. Just as food the next day. The tofu's flavor was really good. You can tell that they cook it separately. Of course it's not exactly like the meat option but still flavorful!! Would definitely order again. I will say to be patient with how long it takes. My cousins' food came out way quicker than mine did. But honestly I can appreciate it. Ok so I've heard so much about the place so I had to try. Sooo I ordered online so I could just pick it up. I got the ox tail pasta , coco bread , curry chicken meal with rice and peas with cabbage , a side of Mac and cheese. I will just say the portions are huge! I enjoyed the pasta it was creamy with spice ox tails were a little fatty but still good. The curry chicken was really really good and I like the rice and peas. The Mac and cheese was ok but I probably wouldn't order again. I also got the jerk pineapple wings I liked it but they were too spicy for my fam.they are selling breakfast now so I will need to try that too. I grabbed the oxtail sandwich and the jerk chicken lunch special. The jerk chicken was more on the vinegary side so not terrible, but not my preference. The rice and peas it came with were a bit different from what Im use to, may have be a different grain of rice. But the winner for me was the oxtail sandwich. I was a little surprised by the cost, as it only covers the sandwich, but I would definitely return for just that! It was the perfect amount of everything with the cocobread bun, beef patty, oxtail and macaroni. It took no longer than about 10 mins to prepare my order. It's more of a takeout than dine-in spot for me. It's plaza has some parking and there's more on either side. I wish they listed their prices on menu, but I will revisit. read more

I was really in the mood for Jamaican food. When I arrived I parked in the lot. I walked in and was greeted. I ordered the small curry chicken with rice and peas, and cabbage for $15. I had never been to this establishment. I ordered the pasta an shrimp. When I finally saw my order there were six nickel sized shrimp over a HUGE container of penne pasta. In fairness, I've only ordered takeout from this establishment, but their food is PHENOMENAL. I lived in Crown Heights in Brooklyn in the West Indian section, and I am no stranger to Caribbean food; we're well acquainted. I wish more people were. This place ranks with the best of them. Their Jerk Chicken pasta is a HUGE portion, beyond flavorful, with plenty of vegetables and chicken to go around. Definitely black pepper forward and I'm obsessed. I'm not a small guy and it's a 2-meal proposition. For the price, this makes sense and I love it. Curry pasta and oxtails are also on-point. The girl at the register asked me if I wanted cabbage OR mac n cheese. I said mac. Looking at my receipt I thought I was charged $3 for the extra gravy that I requested be put on the rice. I went to the cashier and told her not to worry about the extra gravy as I am not accustomed to paying extra for gravy on my rice. She responded with, you don't want the mac n cheese? I said, oh, I thought that was for the gravy. I was okay with the additional charge for the mac n cheese, but stop asking customers if they want one or the other if it's not included. I asked her to continue the order as it was WITH the extra gravy on the rice. My order comes up and the cashier showed me the plate quickly. I did notice that she kept the plate close to her, but this was my first time so I brushed it off. When I got to the car, I took a closer look and immediately knew why she showed the plate to me the way she did. There was NO gravy on the rice at all. Instead I got a condiment cup of gravy. My order wasn't made yet. I wasn't expecting there to be an issue. The mac n cheese: If you like your mac n cheese garlicky and soupy, go for it! Mine went in the trash. It costs nothing to be helpful and nice especially when you are working the register! Bright side: The curry had the right amount of spice and was good. The rice and peas weren't mushy. Be wary if you are out of town and not familiar with the area, lol it is not in the best location. Usually I am really nice when it comes to reviewing places with good food, no matter how bad the service may be, as long as the food is really good then it is a 5 star in my book. However this place really takes the cake for wait time. I'm usually ok with waiting 2hrs for food I really want to try but for a ox tail sandwich...3hr wait?! Cmon now. I would've been less mad if they were transparent with me regarding the wait time. One moment they tell me it'll be done by 2:00 next minute "give me 15minutes" and now it's 3:00. We ordered dinner from Kingston's and we're not disappointed. Healthy portions (a little on the pricey side - but everything is expensive these days) and I feel worth every penny. The jerk shrimp rasta pasta was perfectly balanced with enough spice for a kick but you could still taste the food. Having mac-n-cheese for the second time from two different places was a great way to discern good from great - and Kingston's mac-n-cheese was GREAT! I had to ask my mom if she gave them her recipe! Being so close in proximity to where we are, I'm sure I'll get to experience more in the future - and I'm looking forward to that! read more

I ordered the Oxtail Rasta Pasta through Doordash, it came up to $27 but was in a small sized container this time, (they said it's deeper with the same amount of oxtails). See photo comparison. First things first. The pasta and a lot of other menu options aren't ready until after 1pm. I wish I would've known as I went as soon as they opened to beat the crowds. I ended up going to a few stores until 1:30, baby..... I was in line for 30+ minutes and another 30mins to get my food. It was really good and worth the wait. **PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE. I placed an order through Uber eats and there was missing food such as the oxtail sandwich. When I called the restaurant, they confirm that they forgot to put the sandwich in my order and advise me to come pick it up. Mind you I live 30 minutes away, hence why I did the delivery, when I arrived they were extremely argumentative started yelling, and was questioning why I was there even though they confirmed with me over the phone about my missing item. The customer service was one of worst experiences I've ever had to go through. They ask me why I didn't bring the order back when I simply rushed over there to pick up my food. The gentleman said if there was rodents in my food, why would I not bring it back, why would you even say rodents when you're preparing someone's food? I don't care how much hype a place has if the people are mean and unpleasant to deal with I'm not spending my money there. We finally visited this Tik Tok viral restaurant. This place in Decatur, GA is known for its Ox Tail Mac and Cheese Jerk Beef patty on Co Co bread. My son saw the posts and insisted we go. So we did on a Friday evening. Oh was it pack! There was a line wrapped inside. Of course, this was the hottest day in July. We survived the line in a hot wide room determined to order our food. We were at the end. It took about 20 minutes before we were able to order. They cook food to fresh and depending on what it is, it may take 30 minutes to an hour. We ordered the famous Ox Tail and Curry Chicken. It 15 minutes. The food was hot in temperature, spicy seasoning, and fresh! My son couldn't stop complimenting Howe good the Ox Tail Mac and Cheese Jerk Beef was. Every flavor of sensation he says! He wished someone had came up with it before! My friend recently told me about this place especially after it went viral on social media. I came in here pretty early for lunch and at the time of ordering, I was the only one in there. I ended up getting the brown stew chicken with double rice and peas with jerk sauce on the side. I am a sucker for ordering this meal from Caribbean spots because I love the savory flavor of the brown stew with the occasional kick from the jerk sauce. Sadly, the jerk sauce had little to no spice and brown stew chicken was just okay. My rice and peas were dry and a little hard which made me REALLY sad, especially considering I got double. I think the way my friend hyped this place up, it did not live up to my expectations which is disappointing. I honestly do not know if I will try this place again but if I do I will for sure get something different.
