One of those places that's easy to miss unless you already know it's there. Honestly, we felt a bit out of place and not very welcomed at first. It didn't help that we weren't familiar with the menu or how ordering worked. The staff seemed annoyed with us but were much friendlier with regulars. The place is a little rundown, but still clean. Portions nice and the inclusion of vegetables made it a perfect meal. The goat in my roti was tender with few bones (as experienced at other places), good flavor and enclosed in fresh bussup shut. I added a side of rice and peas which were delicious despite having oversized Lima beans included. Really a bonus and blended well once I mashed and mixed with rice. My request for oxtail gravy on rice added to the palate pleasure! The meal served for 2 plus meals as I had enough to share. Do not recall specific price, but my partner ordered a vegetarian roti in addition to my goat roti, two patties - one vegetable and one callaloo (spinach), and drinks - one sorrel and one mauby (bark picture on label) - total of everything was @57. As mentioned, portions were ample and callaloo patty was my favorite of those two; there were other meat based patty options too. Rating based on bit of confusion on ordering process as new patron. Customers chimed in on direction, but ended up ordering from the counter (my partner) and lunch line (me) and combining orders along the way. Listen we just stumbled on this place after going to the Dekalb farmers market. We wanted Roti but did not want to go far. We had the goat and oxtail roti with the potato and beans . Roti was fresh and flaky. The areas were so delicious and flavorful. Get the extra side of tamarind sauce and hot sauce. Now the place is in the cut but it didn't bother me. People watching is most of the fun. The place is cleaned and they had a rating of92 basically no frill. Now the service I thought the servers we are little dry but they hooked my roti up. He ordered bone in curry chicken roti for me and boneless for himself. They both came with chickpeas and potato (what we call channa and aloe). By the time he got home the bone in chicken meal had gone bad, there were bubbles in it and it smelt horrible. I believe they gave him the food knowing it was spoiled. The boneless curry chicken meal had not gone bad, but there was no flavor, it was just salty, the potatoes were hard and the chicken seemed old. Clearly reheated food. This place is the real deal. Authentic and no frills. We came around 8pm on a Friday and they were out of several things like rice & beans. I got a roti with half curry goat and half curry chicken. They don't usually do that but the employee was nice and let me do it because I couldn't decide between the two. Sizes are huge. I have plenty for the next day. As a Trini , I enjoy most of the food except the Doubles. The Doubles are very lack luster. I understand that they are Guyanese, but even typical Guyanese Doubles will provide more filling than what this restaurant offers. Their Doubles are strictly Barra, and chickpeas ‍. Pros: great food, quality and taste. I love the fact that they have seats for ppl that want to eat in and a working restroom as some small businesses do not. Favorites are the curry goat, curry chicken, stew chicken, ackee & codfish, spinach patty, and my most favorite is the roti. It's as good as they make it in Trinidad. Service: The staff is very helpful. They're always really nice to us, and I've been here probably 50 or so times...no complaints with service. Ambiance: this is a typical cafeteria-line restaurant. Any time I walk into a restaurant this plain (and the line is always long no matter when you come), I know their efforts were put in the food. I came to this spot on my search for Trinidadian Doubles, and they had them! I'm from New York and have been in search for a spot that makes doubles out here and Yayy finally found one! It's not too far out the way, it's in a strip mall with some other West Indian shops. I tried to order doubles with salt fish and they were looking at me crazy lol but I just got regular doubles (w chickpeas) instead lol. And they were good. They're not like A&A out in Brooklyn buutttttt you gotta take what you can get down here in the south lol and I liked what I got. Seems like they made them to order which was nice. They're about $3 a double, which is avg. Service is like any typical West Indian spot, no frills no extra stuff lol lemme get your order and keep it pushing. Inside there were 3 booths, but everybody was getting food to go. They also have other more common West Indian food like curry chicken rice and peas and cabbage, oh and they have Roti too. I walked in and picked up two chicken roti, one with bone in for my wife and I like boneless, chana & potato, a buss up & a dalpari, simple enough. some puratas & tamarin sauce. forgive me if I spelled it wrong. $48 dollars(expensive) WTF. In NYC that's 30 tops, whatever, I went home. My wife was so happy only to be disappointed. They sold me DAYS OLD FOOD, meaning, reheated and been there for days. It has a very bad odor and bubbles in the sauce(this happens with bone in chicken). this done happen with boneless, no bone and old as well. EHHH Thru the bone in away immediately. We took a chance with the boneless. its Weds, we ate that on Sunday. Stomach still upset. that was my fault for eating it. All I can do is let people know, this is sad. It's family.oriented and authentic, but they didn't have shrimp so I had to go for chicken. The girl didn't make it like I am use to. It was very dry. This is a counter serve hole in the wall place that I just happened to try after a grueling weekly grocery shopping at the farmers market 10 min away. We came in about closer to 3.30 and there was a line almost out the door. Mostly looked like locals. They have food cooked and displayed. Everyone ahead of me ordered the chicken curry roti and that's what I tried and requested a box instead of it wrapped. The roti is a giant tortilla stuffed itself with chick pea mash and the tortilla itself can be rolled with the various curries they have. They had goat and chicken options that looked good. Also tried the bone chicken stew which had a great peppery sauce served with rice and cabbage. The portions are generous and can easily be 2-3 servings depending how hungry you are. I went in on a Friday to get some fish and they didn't have any fish and the food in the steam trays did not look appetizing. There was dried up macaroni and cheese. I mean, you can afford to throw away the last corner of macaroni and cheese and put fresh food out. The rice was dried out and only like a quarter of it left come on you guys make enough money to throw away the old food you can't expect to give that to people. Sooooo delicious! I am so excited to have found International Roti House - this is a new fave. International Roti House came highly recommended by a coworker, who is from Guayana, so you know the food is authentic. It was the best meal I've had in such a long time. The servings are massive and the workers were very friendly, helping explain the menu options and making recommendations. I ordered the chicken roti which came with the meat, chickpeas and potatoes wrapped up. I've been told they only have Roti on Fridays and Saturdays, so you may want to double check that. I felt so out of place coming in here, but my co-worker had brought a stuffed roti for me to try from international roti house and it was so good I had to get more, so I ventured in. The true West Indies accent was amazing, and I felt like I had stepped into a different country. Service was great and people were friendly, especially given that I had no idea what to get and wanted to try everything, so they had to tolerate my questions.
