I had a strange experience at the Hot Corner. An older guy and 2 younger guys were working and one…read moreof them was pretty responsive to questions about selling cards and buying specific cards. The younger guy asked the older guy about where to find these cards. He told the younger guy, then nothing happened. I stood around for 15 minutes and left when it was clear none of them were interested in my business. They have a ton of very cool autographed bats, balls and other memorabilia that seem to be priced really fairly. This would probably be my first stop if I was looking for a specific players autograph. There aren't a lot of card shops to consider these days, but I will not likely revisit these guys. It seems the bust in card value has hurt the morale as much as the actual business. Coming here felt like a giant waste of time, despite trying to go local instead of online.

The workers always know their stuff when it comes to sneakers, what variations in styles are available and such, and what colors come with each style that might not be advertised. Footlocker doesn't sell as much team apparel as it used to, but there's still a small section for that if you prefer to waste money on a Carmelo Anthony jersey! Good place to get the latest and hottest sneaker or even less popular favorites.

I don't really browse at these smaller stores, but instead check the inventory online first and then go there to get specific things, which helps manage expectations. We came here because, despite the smaller size, they were the only one in South Brooklyn that had all of the school supplies we were looking for. We were able to order almost everything online in advance, and order pickup was straightforward. For the one item that was too limited in inventory to be available for pickup, I was never able to find it in the store, and searching for it was a bit frustrating, which is how I usually feel just "shopping" at the small-format stores (and why I stopped). The store is two floors with entrances on both 13th and 14th. No parking though, and not an easy area to find street parking. Employees were fine, even if not the most friendly. Not a lot of mask wearing here, unlike some other stores. I think if we return here, it will just be for order pickup.
