It like the main building were very well decorated and furnished. While the main building was built in the late 1800s and therefore more solid of a structure the Roxanne is a newer addition. My expectations were certainly exceeded. Colleen (I think she is the House Manager) was absolutely amazing. She makes you feel at home. She was there to welcome me and offer suggestions on restaurants and activities in the area as well as surrounding towns. The Owner of the Property ( who owns Narragansett House, Dunmere by the Sea, and the artistic boutique Jubilee MV on Circuit Ave) was very welcoming also. She was kind enough to open her private home so we could watch the Knicks win the Championship. Talk about community. The other staff was so sweet and helpful. They prepared a delicious breakfast for us daily. The porch was certainly the highlight for me where guests could gather and interact with one another. The view to the ocean and the location to Circuit is unbeatable. This is a historic 12 room home. If you are looking for modern, updated amenities, this isn't the place for you. If you want feel connected to the cottage life then this is for you. If you are looking for community but still able to have some solo time- this is for you. I highly recommend checking out the African American Heritage tour, the free bus rides around to other towns, and the taking advantage of riding the bikes. The property has beach towels and yoga mats also (Yoga and the Polar Plunge are activities you can inquire about also). I felt safe and cared for and I know this isn't my last time to Martha's Vineyard.

We won't be returning until the attitude and staff are changed. No meal is worth a bad cultural experience. My wife and I tried to eat here. My wife and I had disembarked the ferry in OB and heard about the Wave was new so we were excited and called. The woman on the phone said, yes we have availability come on over - we said we were in our way and would be there in 15 minutes. We arrive in VH 15 minutes later. My very pregnant wife waddles over to the hostess and it seems it's a different lady that tells her "do you have a reservation?!" With an attitude. We say "we just spoke with someone." The woman we spoke to then appears and says "yes" I told them it was ok. Then the other woman scolds her and says, well I just "reallocated" all the tables. Not possible anymore. So then they both point to the upstairs deck area across the way and say it's the bar area, go sit up there. My pregnant wife wasn't thrilled with all the distance and steps but said "ok" reluctantly but she had to use the restroom first. For any disabled person - my pregnant wife also has permanent mobility issues - the restroom is down a step and outside in another section. We finally get upstairs and the guys up there said they had reservations starting soon so we had to check with the hostess. Maybe we got profiled in my T-shirt and shorts, but I can guarantee we would have tipped better than the old stodgy people walking in. We probably would have just stayed the but attitude of the staff was just a massive turn off. If an establishment can't put out a welcoming culture, what else aren't they paying attention to with the meal. Off to Beach Road or to try out The Jetty on our Tuesday evening arrival.

Counter service was friendly. Cons: The bulk of the seating is basically one long table with one side against the wall. Love the idea of shared seating but it's awkward to sit down when you have to scootch behind other diners chairs. Feels very boxed in on that side. My biggest complaint, though, was the wait for the food. They do have a sign on the register asking for patience, but we waited almost 45 minutes for a couple of sandwiches and a Caesar salad. There were only a few other patrons there when we arrived so it wasn't slammed. I would definitely go back if they can fix the speed of orders coming out. If you want to hang out and not in a hurry, it's a nice vibe.
