We don't normally come to this location very often. The last time we came, my parents were not entirely happy with the food. The beef was too tough for them to chew. So this time, I recommended that they order pork, and to my surprise, it was to their liking. I also think the chef has changed since last time. They have a special going on: the value menu for $15.99. For this price, you get a smaller portion of their original broth only, and you can choose whether you want pork, chicken, veggie, or beef ($1 extra). It comes with gyoza (pork or veggie) or fries and a drink. The difference is that it doesn't have as many toppings as their regular one, and it only includes one slice of meat. Still a pretty good portion for one if you're not too hungry. If only they let you pay a little extra to change the broth, I would've ordered that too. I ended up ordering their meal-for-one deal. With this, I get to choose any broth I like, and it comes with gyoza (pork or veggie) or fries and a drink as well. I always loved their shoyu-flavoured soup for the pork ramen. It is always my go-to for this place. Overall, everything is good and the place isn't loud, just a normal noise level. I will definitely be coming back to try their new ramen flavour. read more

Was in the area and wanted a quick bite, I was not really craving ramen however I saw they started serving donburi on the menu! Had to give it a try. Ordered the beef donburi - it was sweet minced beef with pickled veggies on rice. The flavour was decent but the portions were small for the price. It came in a small rice bowl. Came here on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was pretty full. We were lucky to get the last table. We ordered the pork gyoza, veggie gyoza and the summer special, which includes choice of drink, Tokyo fries and a simple ramen with choice of type of broth. There really is nothing quite so comforting as a tasty bowl of ramen on a rainy friday afternoon. My sister & I love coming here whenever we have a craving for Ramen. It's conveniently located at 401 & Kennedy, right behind the large Kennedy Commons Plaza. (it's technically still part of Kennedy Commons, but it's a little bit separated and off to the side. When we first walked in at around 1pm, it was still pretty busy with the lunch crowd. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, that when you first walk in, they all shout hello to you in Japanese. It really makes you smile. I love getting the Pork Spicy Garlic Ramen, and it always hits the spot for me. I also recently tried the Beef Spicy Garlic which is also really great. Haven't been to a Kinton in a while, and first time at this location. Wasn't too busy on a weeknight. Chill and young atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly. Ordered the seasonal special - Burnt Shoyu Ramen (with Karaage add-on), and a Pork Donburi. The Burnt Shoyu ramen was very tasty. Smoky, burnt flavour comes through and a nice thick meaty broth. Love some good ramen, especially on a cold day! I went to Kinton over the weekend and got their Pork Spicy Garlic ramen, which was phenomenal. They garish it with about a tablespoon of grated garlic on top. As a garlic fiend, I approve! It was spicy, it was garlicky, and I couldn't help but drink all of the broth! The staff is attentive and friendly, and the restaurant is a really good size. Overall, I had a great time. Good food and good service. Location/Service This place is right outside the highway 401 Kennedy exit. It's by the series of plaza that has Foody World and Jollibee - right beside Tim Hortons to be exact. Interior is the same as other Kinton chains - wooden seating and modern lightning/ambience. They have limited patio seating right outside the restaurant and have separated limited indoor seating that's socially distanced. Staff were nice and friendly, orders were a little slow. Twice when I ordered for takeout, I still needed to wait at the time of expected pickup. Food Consistent to their other chain locations. My first order was their standard Pork Shoyu ramen - good quantity and quality was a bit on the fatter side as expected. Pork was cooked right (again a bit on the fatter end) and egg was perfect. My second order was their Summer Special - Immune Ramen. It's chicken broth based that's heavy on ginger and garlic. Chicken meat was good and not tough and egg was also perfect. The broth, cause of the ginger, was heavier tasting and may not suit everyone - but I think it fits its description to have good immunity against colds. Kinton is a nice go to place if you need a late night meal (which is what I needed) and I really appreciate their service during the covid time and offering nice messages on their takeout boxes. read more

Last weekend, I was fighting off a cold. What comforts me when I am sick is noodles in soup. Give me pho or ramen, and I am much happier. It also helps that I love both. I have flagged visiting this Kinton Ramen location for a while. I have been to the one in Mississauga a handful of times, simply because I work in that city and it's not a huge drive over there from my workplace. This Kinton Ramen is in Scarborough, in a plaza a good minute away from Kennedy Commons by car. I had no problems nabbing a spot at around 11:30 am on a Monday, even with a Tim Horton's next door. I have noticed that I enjoy coming to a ramen place when it first opens for lunch. It's rare that I can perform this feat. I did it at Sapa House in Dallas, and now, Kinton Ramen in Scarborough. I was immediately greeted by all staff when I first walked in. I was immediately seated at a quaint table. There were already a couple of hungry customers there. I was impressed. I ordered the original pork ramen. I added a marinated egg for an extra loonie. I also made it a combo by adding the age gyoza. My server filled up my glass with water promptly during my entire dining experience. I liked it. My age gyoza came first. As always, it was yummy. The filing was spot on and they were pan-fried to perfection. My original pork ramen came next. I went with wavy noodles. The noodles were chewy and perfect. The marinated egg hit the spot. I loved the corn and green onions. The only downside was a ton of ground pepper in the broth. As someone who had a cold, it irritated my throat, so I did not slurp the broth down. Other than that minor detail, the ramen was consistent from my past experiences at Kinton. You can pay by cash, and credit and debit cards. I paid using a credit card and had no issues. The women's washroom is a single stall. I loved the pig mirror in there. It made me smile. The washroom was clean. I will come back to give the chicken ramen a try. I've tried the miso & spicy garlic versions of their ramen and they were both good but not enough to give a 5 star ratings. Ordered through meal delivery & it definitely held up! Noodle texture - good (I tried thick) Broth - well flavored but I'd like a richer taste if possible. Char siu - points lost on this end as it was quite chewy, not as melt in your mouth, and lacking flavour. Toppings - it only really comes with garlic and corn. The pork was supposed to be caramelized with a kitchen torch, but both of ours were submerged in the broth, so it definitely had more of a boiled taste/texture. It would be nice to see some consistency in terms of the temperature of the broth and the tenderness/finish of the pork. The dumplings were very tasty, and the sauce had a slight kick of heat. The chicken was a bit dry and tough. Perhaps they were just fried a bit too long. We were happy they had a dessert promotion as fellow Yelp member Holly posted about. We shared the matcha cheesecake and black sesame pudding. The cheesecake was a cross between a firm NY cheesecake and a creamy version. I found it had a subtle matcha flavor. The pudding was good. Both were complimentary, and a nice finish to our meal. Our server Kenny was amazing. He was so informative, super friendly, efficient and very engaging. The bill came in a tiny cute bamboo steamer. I've come here a few times since it's the closest Kinton Ramen to me in Scarborough. I found the experience and atmosphere exactly like the other Kinton Ramen restaurant chains I've been to in the city. The staff are super friendly and will greet you when you come in and also say thank you as you leave. My waiter was very attentive and was quick to fill up my water cup when it was low. The bowls of ramen also came out quickly and were fresh and hot. I also recommend the gyoza as it was perfectly crispy and the sauce on it was absolutely delicious. Additionally, I love that they have vegan options when I go with someone who is vegan. Parking is pretty easy here as it shares its medium sized lot with the small plaza. TTC can be a little annoying since it's somewhat of a long walk from Kennedy and Progress, especially in the Canadian winter. There is a Kennedy bus that goes to Scarborough Town Centre that would bring you closer, however it is not frequent. The only downside for me, which is a common feature for all their restaurants, is their chair. I really don't like that you can't keep your jacket with you and if your bag is too big to fit underneath, you'll have to keep it on the ground, which is annoying during the snowy and rainy days. It also doesn't have a backrest so I find the chairs are not very comfortable to sit on for a long period of time. read more

Kinton did not live up to its hype, at all. I've heard many great things about the ramen here, but my bowl of Pork Original lacked the usual flavourful punch that I'm used to. Another disappointment was their Sake Lemonade. I've tasted straight up lemonades that felt more alcoholic than this one. Sansotei, a competing ramen chain with locations across the GTA, is much better, and you'll get more ramen toppings (e.g., mushrooms) without paying extra. read more

Definitely one of the better locations, PLUS they have the combo deal all day long so you can order your ramen with a side like Gyoza (which is delicious and comes with a really good sweet and sour sauce). I always get the spicy garlic pork option. The miso is really good too, but I prefer something with a bit more kick. You can request for less spicy as well. It's super flavourful! I also prefer thick noodles cause there's a bit more bite to it so texturally it's pleasing. The staff are really friendly and it's a busy location, so they really do their best to seat everyone asap. My only quip with these Kinton restaurants are the horrible seats. I don't like hanging my jacket up by the door just because (as sad as it sounds), you can't always trust you can just leave your stuff hanging up. I rather be able to take it with me to my seat, but the chairs are made literally for one person to sit and no room for anything else. It keeps the people moving and increases turn over, but I always then end up waiting a bit longer for a bench seat so we can pile our jackets on the back. Definitely we'll be back again! This was my first visit to Kinton Ramen and it probably won't be my last. Every customer is greeted in unison by the entire staff as they enter, making it impossible to sneak in. That also means there's no excuse if you don't get served. They know you're there! Our server explained the ordering process to us - choose your flavour, choose your noodles, choose your toppings (optional). Simple. I chose a combo with the Spicy Garlic Pork broth with thick noodles. It includes chili pepper, pork slices, bean sprouts, grated garlic, and scallion. The combo included a drink and a side. I chose gyoza. It was served steaming hot and nicely presented. It was topped with about two tablespoons of raw garlic. Yikes! I did order spicy garlic but that was a lot of garlic! I set aside most of it and stirred in the rest. I love garlic but that was a lot. Roasted garlic might have been a better option in that quantity. Anyway, it tasted good. The noodles were cooked just right and the broth had lots of flavour, not just garlic. The gyoza was good, crispy skin, moist filling, nice sweet chili sauce. My friend, always looking to try new things, ordered the Ice Kori Ramen - thick noodles in a slush broth with chicken, chili sauce, bean sprouts, cucumber, red pepper, and egg. As the name suggests, this was a cold soup. It actually had shaved ice in it. She liked most of it but didn't finish it. Cold soups aren't my favourite. To me, it was more like a salad on ice. It sells but it's just not for me so I won't base my rating on this dish. I'll leave that up to my friend, JK. There's a thing they do here called KInton Bowler. If you finish your bowl of ramen completely, they take a picture of you with all the staff, the empty bowl, and a hashtag sign for their Instagram account. This was my first time at a Kinton Ramen. It's located in Kennedy Commons at the south east side near Progress Avenue. It has a parking lot there for this part which is it's own little plaza. Be wary of the Tim Hortons drive through cars that zoom out after getting their order. There was a short wait when we got there at about 6:30pm on a Sunday night. They are on Yelp wait list so you can can hop in line before you get there or on the iPad they have in the front. It's winter and they smartly had a heat vent pumping out warmth right by the doors where we were waiting. The seating inside is mostly block stools with no backing with the exception of the bar seating and the booths so they have a coat rack at the front where you can hang up your jacket. I ordered an Original Pork Ramen with thin noodles. Another person in my party got the same thing with thick noodles. When we received our food, the server confidently told us that the thick noodle bowl was delivered to the right guest. It totally wasn't but it wound up working out for us since I liked the thick noodles better and my friend preferred the thin after all. I really found the broth to be kind of plain. I'm used to a stronger broth with more umami to it. I normally finish a good broth before I finish the noodles and I wound up having quite a bit leftover of both. The pork however was very thick and had a nice smoky grill flavour to it. The egg was also pretty tasty. We also split the chicken karage which itself was alright. The sauce that it came with was almost a bit tasteless. My friend actually wound up dunking hers in her ramen broth to add a little more flavour to it. We got the original pork ramen and shoyu pork ramen, and both were only given to us 1/3 of the takeout container (whereas in the past we would get at least half filled, see picture). However, the portions can seem smaller compared to other ramen restaurants! (They provide an extra charge for more noodles, if you prefer). If you're not a big fan of salty foods you may want to ask for less salt. I personally don't mind it, however there will be an aftertaste of salt after your meal. Was curious what this place would be like since I find this location for a ramen restaurant to be a bit random. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food met my standards. On a Saturday at 7, this place was pretty full. To begin with, the restaurant is decently small. But there was some sort of line up at the door for the entire duration of my visit. It's less accommodating for bigger groups, as I came here in a group of 2 and was able to be seated right away. The servers and chefs are super enthusiastic and welcome everyone who walks in, which was pretty impressive to see. This really contributed to the positive vibe I got in there. But also note that it can get decently loud. One minor thing I didn't like was that unless you're sitting in a booth, the seats are just stools which can get a bit uncomfortable when you can't lean back. For food, they have regular ramen options or combos, where you can choose from selections of an appetizer dish, ramen as entree (which is a tad plainer/contains less ingredients than if you were to order a ramen dish alone), and you can pay $1 and $3 more for a drink and dessert. I tried the pork miso ramen. I liked the flavour of the broth and enjoyed the texture of the pork. In general, I find ramen to be a little less filling as a meal. I had a snack before coming, so I was a comfortable type of full. I also got to try the Chiki Chiki Don which I was happy with. The pork mixed into the rice and seaweed was a perfect combination. Currently they have a promo going on where if you post a picture of your ramen to instagram, you can choose a free dessert (can never say no to free dessert!) So I did this and tried the matcha cheesecake. I don't think there was anything special about the cake... and for a matcha lover, the matcha was a bit underwhelming. It was still good though. In the ramen world, I enjoyed it here. I don't go out for ramen too often to begin with, but I'd be open to coming back to try out other flavours. It's a great environment and good vibe. read more

This is our second time eating at this location. I totally forgot to give them a review after the first time out. So here it is. When Kinton Ramen first opened up in the Kennedy Commons area there were a lot of negative reviews. That is why it took me this long to visit this location. But I am happy to say that they have drastically changed for the better. First thing they do is greet everybody that enters and leaves the restaurant, and they sound very honest about it. The restaurant is very spacious, your not crammed together like sardines like other ramen places i have been too. Service is pretty quick, servers are friendly and attentive to all the customers. So for our second visit, we ordered karaage, gyoza, takoyaki, original pork ramen and spicy mazemen. Karaage: the chicken was cooked to order, crunchy on the outside and tender in the inside Gyoza: was perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior and had some sweet chili sauce on top Takoyaki: was also pleasantly good, with a nice gooey centre Original pork ramen: the broth was perfect, not too salty, the piece of pork was cooked properly, and the noodles was also cooked al dente Spicy mazemen: is ramen without the broth, and it was delicious, all the spices worked wonderfully with the noodles that was cooked to perfection. Even the egg was cooked properly, not too over cooked amd tasty too. I am really glad that Kinton Ramen opened up a ramen place in the heart of Scarborough. You usually have to travel to Markham or downtown to get decent ramen. And from what i have seen, it looks like ramen has crossed over to the mainstream food scene. Can't go wrong with kinton for some decently-priced ramen that you can customize to your taste preference. For my niece's birthday, we ordered a few pork shoyu ramens to-go, veggie gyoza, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. Altogether the food was super filling. The pork shoyu ramen was pretty yummy - I like to add corn and bamboo shoots for more texture, and the broth was very savoury. I finished every last bite and at the end, looked a lil preggers =p although, I guess it was that good if that's the end result lol. Would recommend this place, and the pick-up times were also very reasonable. Thanks for making my niece's birthday dinner a great treat for all of us. read more

It's a decent spot for ramen. Very neat and clean with plenty of seating space. We ordered both pork and chicken ramen and gyoza. Chicken ramen tasted bland and flavourless. I wouldn't recommend. Pork ramen on the other hand was very rich and flavourful. Gyoza was nice and crispy too. Overall our experience was good other than being disappointed by their chicken ramen. read more
