Chicken Donburi, Spicy Garlic Pork Ramen, Hot Karaage
    Jeslyn X.

If you are a ramen lover, you'll go wrong with Kinton. Chicken Karaage holds its #1 spot among my Kinton favourites. This spot is located in the busy area in Yonge-Eglinton but wasn't easy to find. Chicken Donburi was yummy too. Rice was a bit hard though, not quite my type, but the portion was perfect for me. We both tried the beef original ramen each. We got extra noodles and shared toppings for the kid. I found it tasting ok but wanted more flavour - luckily they gave some chili spice. Prices have gone up with inflation. The amount of noodles seem to have lessened too. The rest in my party wanted matcha ice cream so we got it. It's quite pricey at $6 for two tiny tiny scoops. The tables outside were not steady and the cups were light and spillable. People have spilled water on themselves as a result. They didn't seem to give them extra tissue to help clean up, but did offer to love them. The toothpicks individually packaged and the mouthwash in the bathroom were nice touches and nice to have a change table in the bathroom. I do like the vegetarian option (we got in take out once) is now inari sushi skin instead of tofu cake but that also seems less filling.

Location/Service This place is right along Eglinton, east of Yonge. Eglinton is going massive construction for years, so it's best to find parking around the vicinity - either a green P parking complex nearby or in the streets. The place is a bit tricky to find cause of the construction and they don't have a huge sign - like all of their locations. But you should be able to recognize it once you see the wooden tables and chairs layout right by the window. Interior is very consistent with the other locations and staff are very nice and helpful when we requested high chairs and large groups. Food I like how Kinton does have seasonal items that match the season. This photo was taken back in summer and they have a Ramen/Beer combo for about $20. You basically can choose any of their regular item ramen and add a beer at about 12oz of your choice. Ramen and beer is ultimately the best combo - so can't go wrong there. My go-to ramen is usually their tonkotsu shio broth. It's thick, flavourful that blends very well with the cha siu. It gives a heartwarming feel that hits the right spot. I do thick noodles as well cause I'm a noodle fan. The egg is almost done to perfection - runny and soft. As for beer, it's usually their Japanese beers Sapporo or Kirin. Overall nice to see a ramen place mid-town. This location is perfect for residents nearby and working employees in the business buildings.

Pork miso ramen and chicken karaage

We ordered delivery from Kinton. I had the pork miso ramen, and I really enjoyed the broth. It was not overly salty. It was expensive for the portion size, as the two pieces of meat and small amount of noodles were not enough for a full meal. Perhaps they give more noodles for dine in. The chicken karaage came with three large pieces and Japanese mayo. There was too much breading on the chicken, so this altered the taste a bit too much.

    Spicy beef ramen.

I'm definitely a Kinton fan as I go pretty often. I usually order the spicy ones as the other ones taste blend. The meat slices are a good thickness. Generally the services are pretty fast, just chat with friend and the time flies by. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable though. I like to have the seats a bit bigger.

Egg cooked properly. There's one location that struggles to get this right. Thankfully, the Eglinton and Yonge location is good.

Aside from the parking, which isn't anything the restaurant can do, this is one of the better Kinton's.

This is my go to spot whenever I'm craving ramen. Kinton never disappoints me. Their portion is great and flavours are great! Their current promotion, Kintonlicious, is the perfect combo at a great price! It comes with a fried chicken, a ramen and a cheesecake to finish off the meal. The karaage is tricky when it comes to takeout, but they are always freshly made and still hot when I get home! Pork original is my go to ramen as it comes with the egg, but since I had that twice in a week, I decided to try their chicken shoyu which was also very delicious. The slices of chicken in the ramen was also very lean but not overly dry and the broth was very flavourful. My only complain is I wish they have the kurogoma cheesecake on the menu still!

I've been to the one near Eaton Centre so often as a Ryerson student, that I jumped at the chance of going to another location when I was in the area of Yonge and Eglinton. This location did not disappoint! The service is phenomenal as expected from Kinton. Friendly staff greet you at the door and are attentive throughout the meal. The staff are super friendly, polite and always have a warm smile. The ramen is such a great comfort food. It's fresh, warm and full of flavour. If you are able to finish your entire bowl, you get a stamp on their stamp card, which goes towards free ramen. I love that they encourage you not to waste food! Parking can be annoying as expected along Yonge street. There is a paid parking lot nearby though, at the Yonge and Eglinton Centre. TTC is very accessible since it's a short walk away from the Eglinton subway station.

I loved how specialized of a ramen place Kinton Ramen is. There are several ramen types available (Shoyu, Miso, Karaage, etc.) and it can be paired with either Pork or Chicken. Depending on the selection of meat, they will pair the ramen bowl with either a white bowl with a chicken logo or a black bowl with an icon of a pig. This minor detail is easy to miss, but something I look out for in restaurants. Kinton Ramen also carries a wide selection of side dishes. My group got to try their Kimchi, Takoyaki, Tofu Furai, and Age Gyoza. Their Age Gyoza are something my companions really enjoyed and we ended up having 4 side orders of Gyoza for our group of four. The people I was with at the time of this review are not extensively familiar with Japanese food and beverages, and the offered items in the menu gave me a good chance to acquaint them to it. Personally, I ordered the Yuzu Hot Toddy just to get to try something different. I let my fellows try some distinctly Japanese Sake, and it was a really good experience for them. The order of Sake was enough to fill around 3-5 shot glasses which was more than enough for them to properly be introduced to the Japanese drink. Overall, it was a good dining experience to celebrate a small occasion we had. We ended up staying around 2 and a half hours and were the last group to leave before their closing at 11 PM. The setting was neat and themed, and service was excellent.

    Amaze Mazemen

I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty one of their summer specials was - the Amaze Mazeman. I had gotten takeout here last summer (a broth ramen and hot chicken karage) and recalled it being pretty mediocre. I like how many toppings you get with the brothless ramen - corn, poached egg, two pieces of pork, mayo etc - they complimented the lightly sauced noodles. Overall, It was a very filling meal. To top things off, prices are very agreeable too.

As in my previous review this is a very nice place. I love the food. I tried a few different ramens and they were all good. The only thing which I think can be adjusted is a price and portion sizes. Normally the dish is around $13.5 to $17 (the latter for specials) I think it is somewhat pricy for a dish which mostly contains of broth and noodles. Plus I can never finish and most of the time I leave half of it which is a waste of money. I would suggest introducing smaller size portions this way reducing the price. It might attract especially females who can't eat too much :)

Who doesn't love Winterlicious in Toronto? One of the best times of the year!! It's been awhile since I've gone out and enjoyed a nice meal with my academics piling up. This was well deserved especially on a cold evening. You can never go wrong with Kinton!! Comfort food at its finest. It is definitely on my top favourite ramen places. Best part was that it was during Winterlicious in Toronto, meaning they had such an amazing deal for $20: - Choice of Vegetarian, Pork or Chicken Ramen - Choice of dumpling appetizer - Matcha green tea ice cream desert YES PLEASE. One ramen bowl on it own can start at $12.99 - $14.99+ so this was a steal. Flavour it always great. I prefer thick noodles for my ramen because it fills you up more (that could just be, who knows). Regardless, the staff is always a delight at every Kinton chain I've been to so you'll definitely be treated well. But so keep in mind it can get quite loud/rowdy here! It's all part of the experience.

Finally a Ramen place in Scarborough! There really is nothing quite so comforting as a tasty bowl of ramen on a rainy friday afternoon. My sister & I decided to finally try out this new place since we were in the area. It's conveniently located at 401 & Kennedy, right behind the large Kennedy Commons Plaza. (it's technically still part of Kennedy Commons, but it's a little bit separated and off to the side. When we first walked in at around 1pm, it was still pretty busy with the lunch crowd. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, that when you first walk in, they all shout hello to you in Japanese. It really makes you smile. We were seated by our lovely server Aiyano, who was very attentive and had great some recommendations. We decided to go with the Chicken Miso & the Vegetarian Ramen, both with thick noodles. The Chicken Miso, was good, but I was hoping it would have a little more flavour to it. The Vegetarian Ramen was good, but it wasn't out-of-this-world delicious. The portion size was HUGE, so big that my sister could barely finish the bowl. Both dishes also lacked spice, but our server brought us some chili flakes and srirachi to help with that. Lastly, as we got ready to leave, all the staff shouted goodbye to us in Japanese. Overall, it a was a great first experience, I wasn't blown away by the dishes, but I wouldn't count it out the next time I'm craving Ramen. The great service is really what make the experience memorable.

This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!
