I think the food here is a hit or miss sometimes. Ive been here twice, one time being super amazing I wanted to eat more! The second time coming everything was either too spicy or didnt taste as good.

The restaurant is new so it was still pretty empty. It's got cool decorations like art and light fixtures. They've got some exciting menu offerings and I would definitely go back and try more stuff, but this time we got the kalbi fried chicken and creamy beef pasta. The fried chicken was perfect and the pasta was good but I'd want to try something a little more authentic next time.

I'm surprised some of the reviews are saying that the food wasn't anything special, because I definitely thought Kanari had one of the more unique and well executed menus I've tried in recent memory. These are dishes and flavors that I have not tried anywhere else. I liked every dish, but my favorite was by far the Creamy Beef Belly Chili Pasta. This is a must try in my opinion. I also appreciated that the prices were very reasonable, at least compared to other downtown restaurants. We ordered a fair bit for a group of 14, and it ended up being under $50 all in each, which included some drinks. Without the drinks, it probably would have been $35, which is very good for the more upscale vibe and menu! I did come here for a birthday with a bigger group and I will say that the space is a bit awkward. They have a lot of space in the front which is unutilized and all the tables are in the back. For a larger group like ours, it was a bit hard to sit in a way that we could actually talk. But I think it would be a good place for a date, especially as it is not too loud or busy from my experience.

Came here last week during the holidays. Tables filled up quick after we were seated! They have quite a menu, i wanted to try so many things. The honey garlic butter pancakes really stood out. Cute wreath presentation as well. Want to try the beef tartare next time! Saw that they came in two ice cream cones!

Visited Kanari on a weekend evening to get some food and drinks. It has a very modern interior, all black inside so it might be hard to see the menu for some people. There is paid street parking outside. The food is very beautifully plated and I loved the dish that the server recommended - Foie Gras & Steak Donburi. It was super rich and flavourful that I wish they included more rice in donburi. Overall, the servers were very attentive and constantly came to check on us and refill water. I would definitely be back again!

My friends and I went to this restaurant for Winterlicious after seeing it on TikTok, but honestly, the experience was very disappointing. We were a large group and all ordered the Winterlicious menu. I had the salmon appetizer, beef tartare for the main, and ice cream for dessert. The appetizer was fine -- fresh and well-balanced in flavor. However, both the main and dessert were underwhelming. The portions were small and the flavors were very mid. If mid is a category, they are not even on the list... One of my friends ordered the vege option for main, the tofu bibimbap, and the tofu tasted spoiled. We asked the kitchen to remake it, but the second dish tasted exactly the same. That makes us think the ingredients simply weren't fresh instead of the chef's skills. After the recooked dish was served, no one even came by to ask how it was. Is this really the level of service a restaurant should be providing? The waiting time was also long af. It took almost an hour for our mains to come out. I understand that we were a big party and that takes time, but people who arrived after us were already eating while we were still waiting. A restaurant should have the capacity to accommodate large groups, especially during Winterlicious. Because of this, we ended up finishing dinner very late. When the bill came, an 18% gratuity was already automatically included due to our group size but the POS machine still prompted us to tip. Given that gratuity was already charged, asking for additional tips felt very unreasonable and I have no idea why they did that. We went in hoping to have a good time, but the overall experience was just not it. The staff were friendly, but as customers, what we really care about is good food and service that actually pays attention to food quality and customer feedback. Overall, if you're looking for a great Winterlicious experience, this is not the place. Don't trust TikTok. That's all what I wanna say...

Had a wonderful experience at Kanari Toronto. The service was incredibly friendly and quick, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The food was amazing--fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. The atmosphere is great and lovely, with a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay longer. On top of that, the location is excellent and very convenient. Highly recommend Kanari for both the food and the overall experience!

Recently visited & found the experience underwhelming. We ordered the army stew $36, salmon tataki $17 & lobster rose pasta $32 along with a few cocktails. While the presentation was nice, the flavours were just average. The pasta + stew were just mediocre & the portion size didn't feel worth the price. The only thing that was good was the salmon tataki which was fresh but nothing standout to justify the cost. Nothing special about the drinks either. The restaurant feels overpriced for the quality & portions they offer. It's a modern spot with a nice ambiance, but I wouldn't rush back. There is paid parking garage across the restaurant as well as paid street parking. The space was smaller than expected & tables are a bit close to each other.

Although we made an early reservation, there were still plenty of open tables until 7 PM. The restaurant offers all the basic services, and the dishes were served promptly. The three of us ordered four dishes, which were enough to fill us up. The salmon tataki was impressively seasoned--the yuzu salsa and balsamic glaze added a unique aroma. Recommended. The rib tower felt more like style over substance. The thick sauce resembled traditional Korean fried chicken glaze--it was overwhelming after a few bites. The meat itself was tender but mot crispy. Unremarkable. As for the signature dish OCTO steak, if I disregard the almost forgettable steak and focus only on the octopus, mashed potatoes, and seasoning, I'd say it was the best dish of the night. The octopus was crispy on the outside and tender inside, cooked to perfection, and paired wonderfully with the slightly sweet mashed potatoes. Highly recommended. The beef pasta, however, lacked cohesion--the ingredients felt separate rather than harmonized. Not recommended.

Udon with Beef, Kaki Udon I think they called it (lots of cabbage inside)

Ate here the other night with a friend. Its new take on a Korean restaurant and has a very young crowd, most seem to be either in University or newly graduated. It was extremely noisy and I couldn't talk to the other person I came with without shouting or repeating myself several times which was annoying. Of course the service was great and food was pretty good as well. I had the Udon with Beef, I think they called it Kaki Udon. Anyway, I don't think I will be back because it was hard to relax with the place so noisy, definitely for a younger crowd than me, but if you are young and like that type of a place its recommended

Great new korean restaurant & bar! Seating is comfortable and the ceiling is high, so it doesn't feel crowded or too noisy. The food portions are large with unique presentation. The restaurant is clean with friendly staff

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Jin Dal Lae is the number one restaurant when searching for Korean food in Toronto on Yelp. I'm glad we gave this place a try.

Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
