Service: 5 stars; friendly... you order at the counter and then pick your seat. Food: 5 stars; I'm puerto rican and I totally give this restaurant a thumbs up. AMY down the road at entangled cat cafe recommended this place and it was a great recommendation! If you love cats and want to visit with some please GO THERE! price point: 3.5 stars; it's expensive... this isn't your typical combo 12 platter for $9.00 lol don't come here on a budget or BROKE! Cleanliness: 5 stars: came before dinner rush. Overall..... I would be back! Great service and food.

A1 Birria is braised beef and is the specialty of the house. Order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Birria is very tasty but spicy and stringy. Ramen noodles in a tasty broth with a lot of birria meat. Came with 2 tacos stuffed with birria meat to dip into the broth. The place is noisy with customers yelling to be heard over loud Mexican music. If you want authentically spiced Mexican pot roast this is the place to pick some up to take home

-service is pretty quick and relatively friendly -Birria was cooked well -rice and beans were decent; wasn't too dry -fish was also cooked well; wasn't overcooked -chips were kind of stale and interior of restaurant smelled strongly of cleaning agent -I would skip shrimp/fish tacos--nothing special and the slaw isn't my favorite; too mayo forward -sopes toppings were fresh but the fried part was a little too oily -would come here again though for the quesabirria -wings were surprisingly really good! Normally prefer dry rub but the sauce was sweet and spicy--not dry whatsoever -gets extremely busy !!

We ended up here because of a search for food in athens on TikTok. This place came up and the food in the video looked so good and it claimed to be authentic so I couldn't wait to try it. When we first arrived we could tell the place was small but there is outside seating so that was a plus. You order at the register and pay then sit down. They have a salsa bar so that alone was a win first impression. Their health score was an 87-B but I didn't bother to look why.( big mistake) It went downhill from there. I was really excited about the aguas frescas because they are my favorite. I ordered the horchata one and on first sip it tasted bitter almost medicine like and I knew right away it had gone bad. I'm not sure how old that water was but it was no longer edible. I took it back and they took it to the kitchen. They guy inside the kitchen must of tried it because immediately after they took the whole container down and replaced it with a fresh batch. Needless to say I asked for a Jamaica one after that. Food came one plate at a time. Which if it's fresh then I don't mind. The tortillas on the pollo ala plancha plate were hand made with is great. Too bad the food itself was not. The rice had very little to no flavor. The chicken did not taste good. I ordered the hot lemon pepper chicken fries but the smothered the fries in buffalo sauce and it made them soggy and no lemon pepper flavor was present. (See picture) We also ordered the quesatacos with consomé and those were decent. Except the consomé was a little on the salty side. We didn't eat very much due to being annoyed the whole time by flies. They had quite a few flies in the restaurant and with the open salsa bar with no lids covering any of the salsas that's not a good thing. We asked for plates to go and left. The food we did eat made my mom sick within an hour of eating it. I still feel so bad for taking her there but I had no idea this would happen. The staff overall was pretty nice and can't blame them for bad food so we still tipped them. I can't say I would go back although I truly believe they probably had the right thing going at some point because they do have plenty of customers.

The food was great. We went on Taco Tuesday. It is a great place to go for an affordable lunch. The menu is extensive, but we just asked the cashier and got what she recommended! It was great! I got two tacos & my husband got three. I was full after eating everything! The staff was helpful and friendly! And the decor is fun!

My husband & I like to try ' explore new places and this place we had to come again it's the only place near Athens that I can actually say that has a good Mexican flavor comparing flavor from back home in California We got 2 birria Roman combo.. it comes with birria meat, broth & Romen noodles + 2 quesatacos I wished they added lil bit more broth to dip the tacos but overall it was flavorful we also wanted to try their different meats of choices they have so we ordered few tacos....tacos were to dry no flavor Kids meals are good portions & selections for the little ones other then that we like the service the places is super clean you do have to order inside a gas station but it's worth it good Mexican food

The BEST mexican food i've ever had in MY LIFE! The atmosphere was great, my order was taken fast and my food was delivered fairly fast considering how busy it was. ALL employees were beyond nice and had a nice attitude. Very clean and great food! If you're in the area, you DONT want to miss the opportunity to eat here. Perfect 11/10 experience. Will definitely return! I live no where close to watkinsville (about an hour or so away) but i'm willing to make this place a regular restaurant to visit! LOVE LOVE LOVE

Words cannot describe how amazing the Birria Queso-tacos were at Kike's Kitchen! Hole in the wall style restaurant located on the inside of a gas station across from Ingles on the north side of Athens. This is my new go to in Athens! My coworker knows all the hole in the wall taco shops around town and told me about this new place. We decided to go and give it a shot for lunch. We devoured our tacos! The Birria Tacos were so crunchy and full of juices and flavors! They have a topping and sauce bar that was also stocked full of ingredients to add to your food! Great experience and great food! Check out the photos!

Great Hispanic food, with a focus on birria. Tortas are very good, as are tacos. Probably my favorite Mexican joint in Oconee.

Its most positive points (imho) are its location, its outdoor seating in nice weather, and its family friendly ambience. Its short comings (imho) are the food and the noise level, even early on a weeknight. Food: 3/5 We appreciate that they put chips and sauce on the table right away. There is a large menu-and there is an entree special on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday The kitchen makes a positive effort to get the food to your table piping hot. There is a full bar, but we were informed right away that the tap wasn't working. Although there are 4 flavors of margaritas -a common item at Mexican restaurants - getting one was very slow from the bar. The drink was ordered on being seated but meal had started by the time my drink came. The food special of the evening was ok -disappointingly , a chicken fajita I ordered came as flat strips of chicken (like bacon strips) over sautéed onions and a few peppers, but the flavor was ok. The serving size was ok. Service: 4/5 The server was pleasant and friendly -and apologized for how long the bar took to prepare a margarita. Ambience 3/5 - nice decor, clean But noise level made it hard to hear conversations at the table. The metal roof probably contributed to the noise level and it did look like there was wood decor added near the ceiling, possibly to help loudness. Location 4/5 -Easy drive from downtown Watkinsville, farther from Athens, 316, or a perimeter exit.

They frequent this joint every Friday. Talk about a loyal group of people! It was busy tonight. There were quite a few of us tonight but our server got our tables handled. He started us off with our drinks. I ordered a peach mango virgin margarita tonight. After drinks were passed out, dinner orders were taken. Our server handled business! He got all off our orders squared away and then refilled drinks, chips and salsa dishes. My peach mango margarita was so good! I was perfectly salted on the rim. The margarita was flavorful with peach and mango. It took a lot out of me not to suck the whole thing down in one drink. The flavoring was the best when you licked threw salt and then took a drink. So yummy! I ordered the shredded beef flautas for dinner. I got 3 chunky flautas covered in fresh lettuce, cojita and sour cream. My side of rice and beans looked super tasty! My flautas were perfectly crunchy with tender and savory beef in the middle. The ultimate bite was the flauta, lettuce, cojita and sour cream together. So good! I ate too much of the chips, cheese dip and salsa so I only had 2 of the 3 flautas. It was a hearty meal! The cheese dip is money so order the cheese dip! You won't regret it! We ended dinner with a fried ice cream. The size of this ice cream is no joke! I love the heavy dusting of cinnamon on top of the ice cream and whipped cream. The corn flakes were sweet and chewy. The ice cream was creamy! The perfect bite was the ice cream, corn flakes and some with the cinnamon dusted whipped cream. A fantastic treat after dinner! I did notice the gentleman next to me eat something called Bobby's plate. It's grilled veggies with a piece of grilled chicken, a plate named after a customer after he passed. It was his specific meal he ate all the time. That is what I'll be having next year! I had such a fun time tonight and a fantastic dinner. Looking forward to next year's fiesta!

From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place is a local favorite. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the menu offers a great selection of traditional Mexican dishes, along with a few Salvadoran influences that make it even more unique. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the owner, Antonio Ramirez. Throughout the meal, he made his way around the restaurant, stopping at each table with a smile to ask how everything was and to make sure guests were enjoying themselves. That level of personal attention is becoming increasingly rare and speaks volumes about how much he cares about both the food and the customer experience. It's also obvious that the local college crowd has discovered this gem. There were plenty of students enjoying dinner, and it seemed like the margaritas were especially popular--particularly when Mom and Dad were picking up the tab! Fortunately, the margaritas are well worth it, with generous pours and plenty of options to choose from. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. Most importantly, the flavors felt authentic and homemade rather than the typical chain restaurant version of Mexican food.
