Ate lunch here yesterday and will be back soon I'm sure. The food was delicious and well portioned. The menu items allow you to choose your toppings, protein and salsa and most entrees come with a side and chips. I got the shredded chicken and steak tacos and a side of chorizo refried beans. The ingredients were fresh, the salsas had the perfect amount of spice. The staff were so sweet and let us take our time ordering. The steak was well seasoned and had a great char on it but was not the diced carne asada I was expecting. I've heard mixed reviews about this place and now that I finally had the chance to try it, I definitely prefer other tex-mex restaurants. Prices are slightly high here, like for a bowl is sound $17 with tax, and if you get a margarita with it then it goes up to like $32. They do have a variety of menu items, and most do come with chips and salsa. Their margaritas are pretty good too, and a pitcher is $28 so not a bad deal. I would just come here if my friends wanted to go again, but otherwise I can get better, flavorful tex-mex somewhere else. read more

We couldn't find a place to sit down for dinner in Athens before a concert, so we popped into this place There was a bit of confusion when we were ordering drinks, but other than that this was a great experience! It's a pretty traditional model of Mexican-inspired-dishes-served-over-or-inside-carbohydrates, but it works. Dined here about 6:30 on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful young lady. We both ordered tacos with chips and cheese dip. We also had a Blood orange Margarita, Corona Light, and sweet tea. Everything was delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and came out promptly. I got the big client burrito meal with the salsa sauce on the side! I was worried it might have a bit of spice as I'm a weakling when it comes to anything spicy! I also ordered cilantro lime rice as my side. The rice was probably the worst thing as it just tasted like regular rice so it wasn't bad just not tasting what they called it. The burrito was giant, and I'm a big dude! It was so delicious. My own recommendation would be to lessen the refried beans and sprinkle some rice in!!! The Director of Operations for Taco Mama greeted me as I entered the restaurant. He handed me a menu, and greeted me. I chose soft tacos filled with steak and shrimp. The shrimp and steak had been marinated and were absolutely delicious. The meal came with a side of chips and an enormous amount of guacamole. I felt like dancing. I was so happy! Had lunch here today and it was awesome. We were actually headed somewhere else and Taco Momma was so inviting we decided to go in. Super nice friendly staff. Delicious drinks. Fantastic atmosphere. Great chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole. I got a burrito and the flavor was super good. My only critique was the burrito was a little too squishy. I'd suggest grilling the outside of the tortilla and lighten up on the refried beans. I'll be back! read more

Taco Mama is a solid lunch spot. The perfectly crispy chips (made fresh in-house) and guac were the highlight. I would get the hard shell tacos again. The veggie burrito was dramatically under-seasoned, and the tofu was equally plain. Unfortunately, the "street corn" was inedibly chewy. The servers are really friendly, and they have a big patio in addition to lots of seating inside. They were playing some pretty good rock music when I ate there. The decor is casual. read more
