Cannot say enough good things about this sweet cafe. The food was delicious. My husband and I had an omelette which was wonderfully made and my husband had the pancakes which he loved. The ambience was quaint and the service so friendly and down home. The owner, Belinda and her husband were delightful and she gave us a prayer card and two tiny crosses to protect us on our journey to Dallas as well as a piece of their homemade bread pudding to go. A customer and friend commented that Belinda is the kindest person you will ever meet. I believe that is true and we will be back. read more

Was in Okmulgee and decided to stop in to Kirby's for lunch. My husband got his side salad out and they accidentally made an extra and let us have an extra salad which was perfect size for me as I don't eat much. I ordered the cup of broccoli soup and it was not bad. Not the creamiest but for $4 definitely worth it. The sweet tea was delicious tho. My husband said his chicken was good and the portion was good for him. Our waiter was very nice and definitely made the experience great especially with the awful service we have gotten here recently at different establishments it was nice for someone to be nice as we are as customers. Our total was $15.60 two people and a drink what a damn deal! Will definitely be back next time we're in town! read more

Salad with ranch fresh & tasty. Chkn Fr Chkn had great flavor as did the mashed, bith with brown gravy, hot and steamy. Service was quick and seamless throughout the meal, without being intrusive. Great atmosphere of a small cafe, clean and organized. Will return! read more

What a Great place to grab lunch !! Kirby's is just that, small, neat, clean, great atmosphere and good food. This was my first time, so how can you go wrong with the "Daily Special "? Food was great but we got the worse waitress in the world! We sat 15 minutes before she took our order- never once came back to our table - I watched her eating behind the counter, had to flag her down for a carry out container. The positives; It wasn't too loud, no horrible music, and lots of seating. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food came out relatively quick. The negatives; Not a single staff member wearing masks. The cook came out and she wasn't wearing one either. Really unsettling but they did clean off the booths people sat in after they left The food: I got the potato soup. It was delicious and really flavorful. 10/10. The green beans were good. The peach cobbler just tasted like cake with peaches, not worth the calories. The cheesecakes comes in a box, not made in house. A bunch of the other pies appeared to be in a box and not homemade so I'd probably skip dessert here and get it elsewhere read more

This morning I had the most uncomfortable experience at Kirby's Diner in Okmulgee, OK. I go in to enjoy a nice breakfast as I have before. As I'm waiting for my order two men begin having a conversation. This is the message I send to my mother describing the conversation. "So I'm at the diner in town getting breakfast and a Hispanic and white guy start talking about speaking more than one language. The Hispanic is saying that he can speak four languages and the benefits of being able to. The white guy goes this is my country and I only speak English and anybody that wants to talk to me better be able to speak English. He starts talking about how they tried to teach him Spanish in high school and told them he could hardly speak English so he wasn't learning no other language. So they are going on and on about language and end up talking about who owns the land we live on. The white guy is saying that it belongs to Jesus and that Jesus speaks English and everyone in heaven speaks English and going on and on. The Hispanic guy says what if Jesus is Asian and speaks Chinese or speaks some other language. They are literally going back and forth. Then some lady starts co-signing with the white guy. Then the Hispanic guy gets his order and storms out. It was crazy!! The white guy continues going on about this country belonging to Jesus and how everyone in America better speak English. ‍ it was a mess!! I just put both of my headphones on so I couldn't hear him." So then another white guy comes in that knows the white gentleman involved in the previous conversation. They have a conversation that leads me to send this to my mother. "Now they are talking about how blacks back in the day had to get out of town before sun down and how there's a sign in Henrietta saying that." The entire time these conversations are going on there is me, only blacks person, some other Native Americans, and a few whites. The waitresses are making eye contact with me to see how I'm going to react. Not one time did they attempt to diffuse the conversation and explain that there are other customers in the establishment and maybe, just maybe, this conversation shouldn't be going on. As much as I enjoy Kirby's I doubt I'll be revisiting the establishment. If the employees don't see fit for certain conversations that potentially make other customers uncomfortable Kirby's isn't a place for my money! read more

Chicken fry, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, salad for me and a cheeseburger & onion rings for her - both to go. Great breading/flavor on the steak and the sides were tasty. Cheeseburger was a little dry but the onion rings were spot on. Service was excellent/friendly. I sat at the bar while the meal was prepared and watched the kitchen staff slinging hash like pros. Definitely would return just for the chicken fry. read more

First time here. I ordered the char burger and fries. Very good! My husband ordered chicken fried chicken with brown beans, mashed potatoes and gravy (he chose white gravy). His came with a salad and roll. His was steaming the entire time he was trying to eat it. He said it was great. Wonderful service!! We will go back when we are in the area again. Maybe... if they remember your order at all. I called, placed an order, gave my name and even asked how much it was. Came in 20-30 minutes later expecting a to-go order and all I got was an attitude and a disrespectful response that they had no idea what I was talking about and if they were sure I had even CALLED. Then I called after I left, seemed like she forgot the order and the proceeded to lie to me and say that I never placed the order... Great food, seriously... When they remember to cook it. Well we didn't find Beggs Cafe, but we did find a funky little gold mine in Okmulgee called Kirby's Cafe. Amazing food, amazing prices (you dont find anymore), and amazing staff. The restaurant was clean and quaint and the customers really enjoyed being the fortunate locals. Smile upon smile the whole time we were there. Kirby's has been a go to place ever since I could remember. I remember coming here after YMCA soccer games ready to fill up. I would sometimes just get a feeling for some fried pickles and call in an order for pick up. Now that I reside in TX, I haven't been back home in quite some time but last weekend I decided to stop by during my visit. Per usual, I ordered "The Heap" with ham, wheat toast and a water, DELICIOUS !! You can never go wrong with ordering the heap, mark my words. My only complaint is that it is wayyyyyyy too cold inside. I understand its a cafe but its small & I doubt it gets that hot inside. I HIGHLY recommend bringing a jacket. read more

Rarely are we remembered of a meal that brings us back to our youth. That meal that your Mom made that committed you to sit down and enjoyed what was in front of you. No distractions of TV, phones or anything else. A meal that allows you to separate from distractions and exist with just a fork and napkin. Stopped by here on my way back to Dallas from Tulsa. Hadn't sat down in a back booth for more than 30 seconds when waitress appeared to get my drink order. She returned quickly and asked if I was ready to order. I said no but went with soup of day (broccoli cheese) as an appetizer. it arrived literally one minute later. I settled on the grilled pork chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. Soup was pretty righteous, great flavor. Dinner salad, which was doused in honey mustard, was also good. Got my entree about the time I was finishing my salad, how's that for timing? Pork chops were cooked perfectly and mashed potatoes (with cream gravy. you get three choices) were also solid. Green beans were kind of bland but accompanying roll was nice complement to what was a lot of food. Total bill was around $11, not bad at all. Service was impeccable by both waitresses. Cute little spot in downtown Olkmulgee. We went for lunch. I had meatloaf (which is served in huge slices) with a side salad, green beans and mashed potatoes. My husband had the Cuban sandwich with sweet potato fries. My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich with green beans and black-eyed peas. We all shared blackberry cobbler with ice cream. The meatloaf was good. Very little veggies in it and almost all meat. The potatoes and green beans were a little plain. The black-eyed peas were a different kind of peas than what I call black-eyed peas but were still good. The cobbler tasted like blackberry pie filling from a can with a thin layer of white cake over the top instead of a flakey crust - not my cup of tea but my husband loved it. The service was good. The place was crowed. We got there at 11:30 AM and it was already almost full. By noon folks were waiting for tables. There was no changing table in the bathroom and with snow on the ground and an icy Oklahoma wind blowing through town it was too cold to change our baby boy in the car. Nevertheless, we had a good overall experience. This little spot looks like it is just waiting to be featured in Southern Living magazine. read more

Kirby's is a great little cafe in Okmulgee's downtown area. The food is made well and the service is good. It has a small town feel, but is run very professionally. They offer brown, yellow and white gravy and all are good. My mom's favorite is the breaded veal, I like the Grilled Chicken Something, my son loves the chicken fried steak and my husband's favorite is the fried pork chops. The Momma's Chicken Salad Salad is large enough for 2 meals. They serve breakfast and also have week day lunch specials with special menu items (not just marked down regular items). My son's favorite is the Lasagna and my husband loves the Cuban Sandwich with sweet potato fries...I like the variety. The prices are comparable with cafe dining, the servers are efficient, well mannered and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. They are always packed for lunch, but they have a large back room for overflow seating so they will likely have something available even if they look full. read more

Their breakfast was great! I ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. We also had a side of sausage gravy and biscuits. The biscuits are soooo soft and big. It was a down home type meal that was reasonably priced. It is a small, quaint restaurant, but the food was great. I would recommend it if in Okmulgee, or passing through. I will return to try their lunch, for they also offer one of my favorites - fried pickles. read more
