I ordered the hot and sour soup and although it is somewhat different sweeter than other places it was otherwise very flavorful. The steamed dumplings are smaller then most but that is because the shell is the thinnest and most delicat I have ever had and are delicious as all the flavor of the filling isn't hidden by a lot of dough. One of our favorite foods is Chinese but, it is so hard to find a real good one as there are so many that are fast food types. So we were excited the find Kirin. They are located in a stand alone building not the usual strip mall type location. The inside decor is a mixture of tables and booths and not gaudy looking. We were greeted by our server, Sophia, who seated us in a nice booth on the side. Since it was a cool day she suggested we get some Hot Tea. They offer a good variety menu for lunch which includes soup and fried rice or white for $7.99. I chose the Szechuan Shrimp, Fried Rice and Hot & Sour soup. I am one of the rare few who doesn't enjoy Thanksgiving food, so Kirin was a lifesaver for me on that day! I called and ordered the Kung Pao Tofu with a side of veggie fried rice for takeout, which was delicious! I went back on that Saturday and dined in. He devoured the General (but not the broccoli-remember who we're talking about...), then inhaled the sweet/sour, making comments on how meaty the chicken was. Hubs likes spicy hot and the General was HOT. I had the seafood soup ( very good, actually had a mussel on the half shell in it) and the Sesame Tofu. Both were delicious. We decided to try there carry and it was not Chinese at all. The General TSO chicken had no taste what so ever. The beef sticks appetizer tasted like dried nasty beef jerky again with no flavor. Another item we tried were the boneless ribs, again not only not much flavor but tough as shoe leather. The vegetable rolls also were like a Costco brand you would serve to your guest you didn't like. Maybe I am from the North east where there are an excellent Chinese restaurants in abundance and in Florida the standard is lower. This place is a hidden gem, by all mean. Hidden away on a side of the street with no flashing sign and temple appearance, they carry the most delicious and freshest Chinese food Ive ever tasted in America. We got there for late lunch after paddled through Weeki Wachi and swam with manatees in Dec 28. The restaurant was clean, all staffs wore masks, the tables were spaced out except the booths. The waitress was friendly and attentive. My boyfriend got orange chicken and I got shrimp and beed in Hunan style. The food were phenomenal. We could taste the freshness in the food-chicken was crunchy and hot inside out, the fresh tangy taste of orange in the sauce, the spice in my beef/shrimp dish, and the shrimps were huge. Amazing! I have eaten here many times. To put it simply the difference here is they have a chef and not a cook. They use the freshest vegetables and other ingredients. All their soup broths are excellent. Their fried rice is never greasy, unlike some other Chinese restaurants. We have brought many big city guests here and they are amazed how good the food is and always ask to eat here on their next visit . Went last night for dinner and found out the sad news. The restaurant is the same inside with all new servers. They still have the same menus however not everything on it is available ex. Duck. The food was similar although not quite the same. Vegetables were not as crispy and food tasted a bit salty which if you are familiar with this place is a big change as their food never was excessively salty and the vegetables were alway very crispy. Also plates have changed and seem smaller. Service was still good but food lacked the flavor and freshness that we had grown accustomed to. We ordered Crab Rangoon for an appetizer and it certainly didn't look like any Crab Rangoon we've ever had back home in Indiana. Small Rangoon and not real flavorful. My husband Sweet Sour soup, obviously all Chinese restaurants are not created equal because it was just okay. We both ordered General Tso which usually comes out spicy, this was not spicy. I requested white rice and my husband ordered fried rice (again surprised because there is an up charge). So I'll cut to the chase and tell you the chicken was extremely tough, it was either overcooked or the chicken died of old age. Nice restaurant, good food. They do need to work on having a wait list or taking people names as they arrive, during busy times. We arrived and were waiting for a table. A group that came in after us (and several folks before us), thought the server was calling them to the table and took our table. This is because "table for three" could have meant anyone who was standing and waiting. We were one of the many groups of three that were standing and waiting. Was visiting my in laws for Father's Day and we decided to order some Chinese, pop pops favorite. This was the first time we ordered here. The food was good but not great and we ordered $100 worth of food and was not at all impressed with the amount we got. The portions were extremely small except a ton of rice. We ordered Mongolian beef, curry chicken, the appetizer platter, general Tao chicken, chicken and vegetable, a plain chicken dish, boneless spare ribs, fried pork rice, and vegetable lomein. And all of that was barely enough to feed the 5 adults and couple kids we had. The appetizer platter was a joke. It was the smallest thing out of everything and each egg roll, dumpling and chicken wing was mini sized. I've never seen wings so small. Definitely not worth $100. This is the best Chinese cuisine I've had in years! Backstory: We visit the area a couple times a year and have always seen Kirin, but I'm honestly wary of trying new Chinese restaurants. We were seated immediately, the restaurant smelled so good and was very clean and tidy. The food came out hot and was amazing. We had hot and sour soup/wonton soup/egg rolls/crab Rangoon/house fried rice and lemon chicken. The lemon chicken sauce was the best I've ever had. It was served on the side with rice. The chicken was all white meat and the big portion was two lightly breaded, non-greasy chicken breasts cut into slices. The hot and sour soup had the perfect texture and sweet and spicy balance. The rangoons were made with thin dough and were hand-pinched with a generous portion of crab/cream cheese inside. It came with duck sauce for dipping. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. We came in last night at about an hour to closing, and nobody else was there but we were still served by a friendly accommodating waitress. I forgot to take pictures, but we tried the wonton soup, boneless spareribs (which I must say were quite amazing), and the appetizer sampler. For the entrée I had the chicken and broccoli with fried rice which was fantastic. The portions are very large and I had a very filling lunch this afternoon. Also pictured are my friends entrées. I eat at Kirin China Grill numerous times a month. Their food is so fresh and very tasty I usually order wonton soup and the Steamed shrimp with snow peas. The vegetables are crunchy and plenty of food. I usually take home 1/2 of my meal. read more

The service was great and they were all very friendly; however, the food didn't amaze me. The taste was standard and the presentation wasn't impressive. We had different dishes: Duck, pork, and beef - But they all tasted similar. I feel they might've used the same sauce on all their meats. The staff is very pleasant, but there was only one waitress and a server, so we didn't get much attention. Larger pots for hot tea would help. This may be dumb, but I live to get a fortune cookie when I have Chinese food, so why not do that! I had the Crispy Shredded Beef with a brown s same sauce. So good. My friend had the House special with noodles, although it needed a little more flavor, she enjoyed it. Thursday night in Spring Hill, and there was a line waiting for a table at 5pm.
