The hibachi was great, sushi bar was huge and delicious with all the favorites, The soup was awesome my wife had a bowl of each with an eggroll and there were 4 kinds. Whenever I come to visit my in-laws, we always eat at Buffet City. It is one of their favorites and my stepson also loves it. I gave up eating Chinese buffets years ago but I do look forward to eating here. The best item on the buffet in my opinion is the honey chicken. The sauce is really sweet and sticky. It has more flavor than say the Generl Tso's that can tend to be too runny. I also enjoy all the standard Chinese fare such as egg rolls, dumplings, crab Rangoon, sweet and sour chicken etc as well as the Hibachi with 6 different sauces to choose from. Save your money ....when we hit there there was a sweet man who welcomed us in and brought us to the table . We are not familiar with buffet style eating and so we walked around and got food. Everything tasted like it was day old. The sushi was very low grade the soup was awful there was a whole row with food and mayo. The desserts looked like a throw away bin at Publix but u have to give credit to the only thing edible which was the fruit and shrimp choices. We had a larger group and mid service a served approaches us and asks again how many in our party and as I tell her she gets the check and stated that it's wrong as if I wrote it or lied about the party size . Very confusing to me because i verified upon entry. None the less after the exchange which seemed well they started grabbing all our plates. My dad was literally eating out of one and she pushed in between the seats and grabbed his plate . I was so confused . We didn't eat very much as this was an overwhelming amount of food offered but it simply wasn't good. Also they have a sign with a time limit . We were only there for about 45 minutes. She blocked in another person at our party to even grab plates it was ridiculous. I really enjoy the food here. The chicken on a stick, sesame chicken, curry chicken, egg foo young and the pepper steak. The Hibachi is great too. The person who seated us, for a few feet from the table, and as my wife is disabled, instead of helping with seating her, she wanted to know what we wanted to drink! The food here is definitely not 5-star, but there's so many options and I always get my money's worth . The buffet is really cheap, but then you pay $2 for soda. They serve so much pork, peel-and-eat shrimp, and seafood salads that I don't eat - but there's also an entire table full of cakes. I try to start with hot eggdrop soup, then fresh cucumber salad, then vegetable fried rice plus orange chicken - but sometimes I go straight for the cakes. Emotional eating. We have actually been to this location a couple of times before Covid. We are always greeted upon arrival and the staff is always extremely friendly. Our previous visits weren't always great but our most recent visit has been our favorite so far. We arrived around 8:20, they close at 9 so we figured this was fine as usually most buffets will put the time they stop replenishing food. Unfortunately we were incorrect in our assumption and do suggest arriving before 8, otherwise food will not be replenished. This was our biggest issue but honestly, while our favorites were all out (steak in the hibachi and sesame chicken, etc) there was other foods to still pick from. This is also the best the food has tasted to us! Even though we were there late we were never once felt pressured to eat faster and that was very much appreciated! Whenever we are in the Brooksville area and feel a hankering for a Chinese buffet - Buffet City is our to go stop. I'm tickled that it survived the close down of restaurants by Covid. There are some changes in the buffet line and their prices did go up just as all the restaurants have post Covid. Service greets you at the front door hostess station and seats you at your table and takes your drink order before your waitress/waiter arrives. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Some of the help have a little difficulty in communicating, their English isn't the greatest but with patience and lots of gestures we always get what we need! As with all buffets they have hot tables for food and cold tables for salads and things that need to be cold like some desserts. They offer three different soups, Hot and Sour, Egg Drop and Wonton. The broth and wontons are separately served so as to not overcook and get mushy. They're all very good but my favorite is their Hot and Sour. It's loaded with tofu and vegetables and is just the right consistency. Not too thin of a broth or not too gelatinous. They offer chopped green onions and crunchy wonton strips in bowls so you can add to your soup if you so desire. Cold tables offer boiled shrimp, numerous kinds of salads including but not limited to imitation crab salad, seaweed salad, baby octopus salad, marinated mushroom salad and snow pea salad with a sesame oil dressing. Puddings usually consist of chocolate, vanilla and tapioca. Jello squares along with various cut fresh fruit, sugared nuts and macarons are also near the fruit on the cold table. Hot tables hold a variety of Oriental and American choices. Usually a carved ham or turkey roast, pizza, macaroni and cheese, beef stew, mashed potatoes are a few of the "Amercan" food choices. I don't choose those because I'm here to eat Chinese food. My choices this visit were Hot and Sour soup - delicious and something I have every time I visit. Then I always have their peel and eat boiled shrimp which I dip in a mixture of cocktail sauce and hot pepper oil. It's divine! Tip for the shrimp - since they're packed in ice try not to get too far down because I find that some of those can become soft and mushy. I love their mussels and clams dishes, their hot crabmeat casserole, their Shrimp in lobster sauce is also a favorite of mine. Their vegetable sides are very good also. I love their baby bok choy, their green beans cooked with garlic and onions and their sauteed mushrooms. These are solid choices. I usually get their chicken wings but they were not available which is a shame! Their one of my favorites. Crispy but still juicy with a hint of I'm guessing turmeric because there's a little yellow in their coating. I chose beef in a brown gravy with onions this visit which was good. Too many other dishes to mention individually but they do offer some sushi and have a Mongolian grill which was not open at this time. I'm not sure why but we had plenty of other delicious foods. Oh and I must mention their soft serve ice cream and a whole table of various cookies and cakes which I'm usually too full to enjoy! All I can say is....NO! Have witnessed the staff pouring new food on top of old nasty off color food and mixing it up so the old food is hid amongst the new. Have witnessed staff placing their hands in places you should not, then not washing or sanitizing their hands before touching food again.
