If you want a home that doesn't fall apart, DON'T BUY KIT! My email to vendor Well , we now know which company will not be considered should we buy another manufactured home. We are very disappointed in KIT workmanship and the quality of the materials used. The siding is warping and coming apart at the joints. They obviously used as few fasteners as they could. The back door is warped and not hung correctly. It is very difficult to open and close and does not seal. (Have made numerous complaints) The front door does not seal. The top rail on the porch that was joined is warped and looks crappy at the join. The linoleum floats when the AC is on and really floats with heat. I screwed down the vents and that helped some. There has to be some serious leakage in the ducting. I have a nail coming up through the linoleum in a place where there is no traffic. I question whether there is any insulation in the outside wall of the bedroom closet. There is no vent in the bedroom closet. The remote for the living room fan has never functioned so when the light is on, the fan is on. Great in the summer, kind of bad for winter. As a home settles, certain materials and components may move or shift. Each home's foundation, land conditions, and placement are unique, so the amount of movement or settling can vary from one home to another. Westwind Homes cannot provide a lifetime warranty covering movement, shifting, or settling of a home after the applicable warranty periods have expired. Regarding the vent in the closet, KIT Custom Home Builders does not install vents in closets as part of the standard construction unless a customer specifically requests one at the time of the home's construction. I purchased a home through craftsman homes in sparks nv. It took 2 years after I ordered it "due to covid". I would have gotten 3% interest on my mortgage, but got stuck with 6.6% with perfect credit due to the delay. The warranties and service through craftsman and Kit custom homebuilders is an absolute joke. The house has had multiple issues, and their "service" for after care is pathetic. If you want to overpay for a glorified mobile home and be on your own with problems later, buy one of these. Buyer beware. You'll be angry and frustrated dealing with these cheap people read more

Finish work is crap!!! I can relate to every review on here. Our journey started just before COVID hit and it took until Feb of 2023 to get our home. When we finally got it every room in the house had to have drywall cracks repair which I know is normal, but then they had to be repaired again! Cracks that appear where the joints were not taped and finished properly. Grout, not caulk around all counter tops has to be replaced due to cracking and crumbling. Grout in the shower need to be redone due to leaking issues. Had to have kitchen rewired due to faulty wiring. Had to have my 80x40 window in the living room replaced and it took them 3 times to get it right. Had to have lights in kitchen redone because they were not placed in the correct spot. Have no heat in master bath because apparently the venting doesn't go that far, it cuts off in the middle of the floor and the vent is past that. We too have had numerous people here that didn't know what the heck they were doing and some that thought they knew everything. I could go on and on. The one good thing about this ongoing experience is that the guy that set the house on the foundation knew what he was doing. I will never recommend KIT in Caldwell Id. to anyone. read more

My Kit home is wonderful. I spent time getting the layout and features I wanted. The factory tour was helpful to see that, while yes, it comes on a truck, it is a stick-built home. If there were a star rating that began with a minus number Kit Homebuilder's West would be worthy of that negative rating, thus my lower rating of one. After four years, we are still combating issues that we have been fronted with since the purchase of this unit from American home center in Billings, Montana. The installation was faulty, a nice way of putting it, and the quality of the home a great deal less than what was promised. Among all the lies we were told, the resolve we were assured would take place the bulk of the mess has been left up to us to correct. The interior furnishings of the home, blinds windows, floor coverings, plumbing fixtures faucets, toilet seats, drain lines, sinks etc., look nice when purchased, but are CRAP! 5 year owner. I have to agree with the other reviewers. These homes are terrible. $269,000 Pinehurst mistake. The house was damaged really bad in the driveway on delivery. At least one section of the house's frame is bent badly. The walls are crooked. The floors are crooked, along with uprises in the flooring, even the roof shingles are crooked. Kitwest should have returned the bent section back to Idaho and replaced it. Instead they kept the issues quiet. Kitwest also left the heavy trailer tongues in my driveway after delivery for me to remove! And yes like Kim, I am having water leaking damage as well. I had to hire inspection companies to file a lawsuit. Also, I had to luckily and succesfully sue the Kitwest dealer, though I did not recover enough for repairs. Lawyer shitshow. This purchase was a terrible mistake. Kitwest did not rectify any issues. I would never recommend. Shameful company, work, and customer service. read more

I paid 50% non-refundable on 02/28/2021, and remainder upon delivery on 09/31/22. One of the two sections arrived with apparent damage during transit, but I cannot obtain documentation as to the full extent of the damage, or as to the cause. There are so many issues that I hired a home inspection company to document them which I supplied to the factory, the local dealer, and the factory repair rep. The long-delayed "Factory Walk-Through Inspection" by the factory repair rep finally took place on 06/13/23. The company has yet to even acknowledge what their inspection confirmed and what they will fix under their warranty. Their repair rep still has no work order as to what will be repaired. Repair appointments are endlessly delayed. It is impossible to get any meaningful factory responses. It seems as if they are trying to run out the clock instead of standing behind their work. I am being forced to live within a defective product. If you purchase their product, I suggest that you photograph, log, and/or document everything. read more

How many crackheads does it take to build a Kit ( cough cough) * Custom home? Custom as in every turd is polished differently? Custom as in no tape measurers, levels, or intelligence was used in assembly? Maybe custom as in how many times can they recycle broken, dented, scratched parts until the foolish people that paid good money give up and stop complaining.. . I've lived in trailers before, and let's not kid ourselves, these are trailers thrown together, not by skilled craftsmen, but by the available labor pool. I've been in constant contact with the factory, so much so, that Ron doesn't take my calls anymore. I'm now relegated to Douglas who needs permission to ship out necessary materials. Douglas last told me the plant was shut down due to covid 19, but I don't care! I'm still living in a travel trailer because the house isn't finished. Why should I put furniture into a house to have the finish crew still mudding walls after months of the house being on the foundation? I'm telling you now that these are trashy clown houses without any quality. Not what the lot models are, and if they are then tear apart the lot models to see how badly they are built. It's bad enough to see what is out in the open, but what I can't see scares me more. Kit needs to step up, stop blaming the customer, and build what they promise. Because they get paid upfront they assume any crap will suffice, and because they conveniently can't find records doesn't mean concerns weren't expressed. I'm also to a point of fixing and replacing low budget materials in a house I'm not even living in. Do yourself a favor and buy those cheaper trailers. Very poor finish work. Kit custombuilders is not a custom home. They must not use a square or level. Cabinets are not level and the countertops are not square to the wall, very noticable when range and dishwasher are installed. Cabinets are crap they do not use cabinets with solid backing. It appears they are hand built on site. They use plywood for the drawer frames then they nail the frame to the wall, not screws. End cabinets are not solid wood. Outles and switches are installed with no regard to visual assestics. When anything is mentioned to any contractors that shows up on site they shrug their shoulders. One even mentioned thats the difference between a $100 sq ft house vs a $300 sq ft home. Somehow poor quality is common and expected with Kit Homebuilders by there contractors. Stay away from considering using Kit Homebuilders. read more

Simply the worst! Never recommend a KIT anyone! Extremely poor construction. My home is only two years old and the roof leaks like a sieve. Insurance will not help stating or construction and installation. That is just the tip of the iceberg of the many many things that we have found wrong with our home. Horrible workmanship, Just awful... It seems like their factory is run by a bunch of drunk teenagers! Faulty wiring, drawers that don't open, raw gypsum Sheetrock edges sent out as finish work, improperly installed bamboo floors, forgot to install smoke alarm, built laundry closet too small for the appliances (even though they had the specs). And their service is even worse than their workmanship. They don't return calls. The service manager included. We have had the home for 5 months and are STILL waiting for the close up finish work! Horrible workmanship. Had our 2006 square foot home made for ADA so that our son would be able to live comfortably. The transport company dumped the first half in the ditch upon delivery, did not file an accident report. We have called both Kit Home Builders and American Home Centers where we ordered the house from and have not seen anyone in months little alone had a return phone call. We have about 120,000 dollars in damages from broken beam under house to all windows on the ditch side need to be repaired and replaced, went through the winter with no insulation (some there but they never hung it). Floors move when you walk on them and the grout is cracking. This doesn't include the lopsided island, cracks in the counter tops, cupboards that are warped, and 2 walls that look like they are from the Dr. Suess books. Filing more complaints and getting an attorney. read more

If your looking for your modular to be built and delivered on time don't look to kit. I ordered my house through century homes in Idaho falls and it's been a miserable experience. I was told my house would be done in September even with the covid issues. I kept in contact with my rep at century homes for months making sure that I'm on time for the delivery. We'll September came around the October then November. Once November hit they said my house was offline but could be 30-60 days waiting for backorder items. Here we are 60 days still no word from anyone. I called century homes and they said kit will not give them a time frame of when the house will be delivered due to their suppliers. So now I'm losing more money because they do not have reliable suppliers filling their contracts " supposedly" yes I'm pissed off. I had everything set in place to have my house set before winter. I have never been told that any of my items in the house are on backorder. I can buy windows here where I live locally no issue doors also no issue. Why is it so hard for kit homes to provide the customer with updates of maybe when their house will be finished. I'm almost to the point of getting a lawyer because I am loosing money left and right waiting on the house. read more

We purchased our house through a dealer for Kit Homebuilders West, and the service from both sides has been terrible! If you want a totally destroyed house I highly recommend these guys for the job. We have had 7 contractors through our house hired by dealer and Kit Homebuilders West and they have managed to screw more stuff up than fix it. Our house is yet to have the complete finish work done. We can't ever get any calls back and when we do they promise you this or that and nothing happens they send people that are under qualified to finish the work and they want to do it for cheap because you know you bought a modular and your expectations are too high for a modular. We had someone from factory come look at our house so they could see what all needed to be fixed and they still sent the wrong parts and the wrong guy to do the job. We bought the 3 piece triple paid quite a bit of money for it and it is the biggest nightmare I could type for days on the things that are wrong the poor customer service and the finger pointing that goes on between dealer and factory is ridiculous no one wants to take responsibility for the work that needs to be done to the house. Steer clear of this manufacture and the dealer that sold this house they are both a joke. I would have to agree with Jeff on the factory run by a bunch of drunk teenagers our wiring was screwed up in the kitchen and there was no plug in under the house for one of the extra bedrooms the finish work on the top of the decorative pieces in the house look like a 3rd grader did the work and most of it because you can't see it is not finished there are holes, and rough spots all over the tops of the decorative edges and the tops of our cupboards are terrible. Our laminate floor was all scratched up there is a soft spot in the kitchen. I could go on for days. I have never in my life written a review and thought to help save people from the headache and heartache of dealing with this company! This is the worst home I've ever owned. Do not buy from this company. So many things have broken/gone wrong in the first year of owning it. The most notable is the bamboo floor, but there have been so many many problems. They respond to noone - not even the attorney general. So it will mean an attorney.
