If you're only here as a tourist and is looking for a cheap place to have food, this is a decent restaurant to go to. But if you're looking for good tasting, authentic Asian food, I think this restaurant is pretty subpar. I fell into the former group when I came to Blue Mountain for skiing and decided to come to Kitcho Sushi for dinner because the other restaurants at the Village were too expensive. I ordered the seafood Udon which was about $13, while a family member got the Tempura Udon. It turned out that the Udon was pretty much the same, except mine had a few seafoods in it while the other one had tempura on the side. There weren't a lot of actual seafoods in the bowl, mainly just vegetables like carrots and broccoli. The tempuera only had 3 pieces of shrimp and the rest were vegetables. It's not really a good value if you ask me and it tasted like I could have made the same thing at home. Also, the restaurant was super cold when I was here. I pretty much had to wear my jacket while I dined because otherwise I would have been shivering at my seat. read more

When we brought to the waitress' attention how this dish is not "chow mein" and asked if they could give us a bowl of rice with this, they told us we have to order again and order "Lo mein" which isn't even fried noodles? I had a Thai soup that was unspeakably bad. It was supposed to be hot and sour but they just had huge hunks off partially cooked vegetables in a sour broth. Truly unappetizing. Spring rolls were dead fried with minimal stuffing. Tasted bad. Rest rooms were dirty, those stall doors have never been cleaned. Avoid this place. read more

The sushi was decently tasty, the presentation however was mediocre. The problem with our visit was when we had accidentally ordered too much food. We told them we were happy to pay for the leftovers, and the waitress told us "we are withholding the rest of your food since you haven't finished what's on the table." After asking her again to deliver the remainder of what we had ordered (again, telling her we'd gladly pay for a takeout container), she brought LESS THAN HALF of what we ordered to the table (4 salmon roses instead of 8, 10 small pieces of salmon sashimi instead of 20, and zero salmon sushi). Finally, we asked for ice cream for dessert, and the waiter told us "normally we don't allow you to get ice cream if you've ordered too much, but this time you can have one scoop each." We were humiliated and were disgusted at how the quality of service plummeted when THEY had determined that we'd ordered too much food. It is in their best interest to continue serving us even after we've over ordered, because then we have to pay for the food twice (firstly covered by the price of the all you can eat service, plus whatever else we are charged for the cost of a takeout container, which ended up being an additional $10). The service alone turned me off from ever returning to this dingey restaurant. It's a shame, their food was decent, but their service will drive them to the ground. read more

We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. It was pretty quiet, which surprised me, but the food and service were both great! Our waitress was top notch! We did the AYCE option and orders came out in a timely manner, and either as hot or cold as they should have been. They even had a new (to me) take on a sushi roll. In a very convenient location, you will almost certainly pass by it on the way up to Blue Mountain from Toronto. Being from Mississauga and always frequenting AYCE sushi type establishments; I already knew what to expect. They offer All You Can Eat and A La Carte options in either Japanese, Chinese and Thai dishes. First off, I noticed the inside decorations weren't very appealing, it just plain. Not much too see, nothing hung up on the wall. Almost too plain that it becomes an eye sore just looking at it; so you'll have to look at your friends. I didn't have a problem with the service except for the fact that my friend found an eye lash on his tea cup; could be his, could be theirs... we will never know. Overall, the dishes were pretty clean, it was never a concern. I guess it was slow that day and several times they would come up to us take our order immediately sitting down but we weren't ready. We all opted for the a la carte option. Finally after we ordered, the food started coming in within 4-5 minutes. I find this relatively fast. I ordered the Special Bento Box, which consisted of Chicken and Salmon teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, 3 pieces of salmon roll, 3 pieces of cucumber roll, 3 pieces of salmon sashimi, miso soup, house salad and rice. All for $16.95. The chicken and salmon teriyaki was good, it was grilled properly and you get that grilled teriyaki after taste. I found that the shrimp and vegetable tempura to be very oily and drenched in oil when they served it. I wish they served it in a basket with a wax paper underneath like how I've been accustomed too. The sushi rolls were fresh, and not being much of a fan of sashimi I had no problem with their sashimi. Only thing else they may have ruined would be the house salad. It just seem to consist of lettuce and thousand island dressing. I am use to having more variety in the salad like tomatoes, chopped carrots and more greens! Overall, it was very filling. Looking at my other friends' order, they really fill up the plate on their Chinese and Pad Thai dishes. So you don't have to worry about portions, they are very generous. read more

We were apprehensive at first, but as soon as we tasted the amazing food we were hooked!!! Been there twice now and planning to go again this weekend. We love the all you can eat option because you can try so many things and its made fresh with each order. So far our absolute favorite is the crispy salmon sushi.....simply delish!!!! I love sushi and I think it's important to have fresh fish when serving. I guess for a place in Collingwood, this place is OK. but it definitely wasn't fresh. Our rice was hard- kind of felt like it sat out for a few hours and wasn't very edible. Their dynamite rolls weren't bad and service was good but the restaurant itself was hideous looking. The floors look like they've never been cleaned, the seats were dirty and everything felt dusty. I think this place has a lot of room to grow and improve. read more

We have been a few times and unfortunately the service gets worse with each trip. The sushi is "okay" as you get what you pay for. Had to ask a few times for my salad and our girls ordered hand rolls which never arrived and when I asked for them the waitress shrugged so I told her to just go ahead and cancel them. Would give this place a no-star rating if I could. As a local, home for Christmas, I figured I would try sushi somewhere other than the fan-favourite Hungry Sumo (which is highly recommended), so my friend and I went to Kitcho Sushi. A very regrettable experience, and very poor quality - even for an AYCE. Deplorable quality of sushi. The rolls served to my friend and I contained slimy, grey coloured salmon and brown avocado. It looked as though the ingredients had been sitting out for hours, if not days. To add insult to injury, the servers were negligent and rude. I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend Kitcho Sushi to anyone living in or visiting Collingwood, nor would I ever return. read more

We stayed at Blue Mountain resort where all the food is quite pricey so we went out in search of a good meal. We were quite pleased with this find! Great food. Quick and friendly service. Sushi is fresh. We love the spicy salmon hand rolls, and their crunchy tempura. The mango salad and avocado salad are very refreshing. Overall, great value for your money! read more

Terrible sushi. Terrible customer service. A friend and I had tried this place out because it was new in town, and we were curious and excited (as sushi lovers) to try a place aside from the regular spot. We both got the all you can eat dinner and eagerly chose many of the various items on the menu. First, we ordered some vegetable tempura, seaweed salad, and edamame. Admittedly these items were actually pretty good, standard "safe bet" items. After this, we ordered various rolls from the selection offered. When the sushi was brought to the table, I was disgusted with the presentation of fish (salmon in particular) that appeared discoloured and slimy, and vegetables that looked wilted and brown. Hesitantly, I tried a couple pieces that didn't look TOO bad, and was incredibly dissatisfied. Now, I am not the type to make complaints at a restaurant, it makes me quite uncomfortable. This in mind, I hesitantly went to the front counter and quietly asked to speak with one of the servers working. I began to explain the situation to one of the women working and she didn't even speak to me or look up, but rather pointed at the other man and mumbled that I should talk to him. I approached him and explained politely my dissatisfaction. He was quick to tell me that I was "wrong" and that "I was the only person to complain". Now, this was quite the surprise to me and I could only conclude that either most customers were NOT ordering the rolls or had never eaten sushi before. I was taken aback by his lack of understanding and his extremely rude manners. I did not want to make a scene or an argument so I quietly sat back down but did NOT eat any more sushi. My friend and I were then ignored for at least fifteen minutes, and then without asking were brought the bill and asked to pay at the front. We both ended up paying $22 for an AYCE meal where we shared one serving of tempura, salad, and edamame. This is the absolute WORST experience I have had in any establishment, probably ever. Safe to say that I will absolutely not be going back, and I am writing this review as a warning to anyone who makes the choice to eat there in the future. read more
