I hadn't been to the dentist in years and was extremely nervous about going to get my unhealthy teeth (and gums) fixed as I neglected them basically my whole life. I was referred by someone whom is extremely opinionated so I finally made the call. Upon my 1st visit, I started to feel anxiety which apparently the assistant noticed and said, "Your doing fine, is there anything I can do to help ease your anxiety?" I looked at her like she was not from around here. I explained that I was ashamed but if I wasn't taught something, how am I supposed to be able to learn so I can teach my own?" She looked and smiled and said, "You have the courage to come in, the next step is ours. We will help." From that moment on, I've had 5 follow up visits and each time, I feel more confident I made the right decision (actually I followed a recommendation). My appointments are timely, if there is a problem with my dental needs every step is explained to me beforehand. Dr. Remy Rogers could be the most diligent, skillful, conscientious and competent dentist I have ever visited as a patient. She has great hands when administering the novocaine pain shot and her superior skills puts her ahead of many dentists I have utilized when it comes to having to have a crown placed. I called to make an appointment as a first time patient. I just had x-rays a week ago at another dental office. The receptionist that answered the phone told me I would have to have another xray at this office. I told her the previous office I went to said they would forward my x-rays as long as I signed a release form through kitsap gentle dentistry. The receptionist wasn't interested in that and kept saying I needed a new current x-ray on a tooth the other office wanted to put a crown on. I told her it was just a week ago that the xray was done and it's not logical that I have to have another x-ray done. Insurance only pays for a certain amount of x-rays a year. I asked her to email me the code for the x-ray so I can find out from my insurance how much more I'd have to pay for the x-ray through this office. I also asked her to send me the authorization form to release my x-rays from the other office to this one. She said I need to call the other office and go directly through them. I've never heard of that. Usually the office who needs the x-rays has the patient fill out the form and then they send it to the ptevious office. This receptionist was not interested in doing that at all. So I asked her how will they know how to send the x-rays knowing she hadn't given me a contact for the other office to send the x-rays to. She said they could email them. So I asked her to also include that in the email she was going to send me. This all happened 3 hours ago. I still have not gotten an email from them. This was horrible customer service. I hope the woman I spoke with does not run that office. Needless to say I won't be calling back. I suggest other potential clients steer clear if this place. It really takes nothing to have good customer service and a positive attitude. I can only assume that woman hates her job. What a shame. read more

Dentists are great, no problem with that. Good thing here, my toddler has not been afraid to visit the routine dental checkups, and rarely does it have a problem since they are gentle, accommodating and really engages my son to participate. He always looks forward to visiting the dentist regardless if it was Dr Spaulding or Dr. Yoon, that's why I decided to stay with them until we moved. Now the reason(s) for this rating... When you arrive on time or at least a few minutes earlier, it would take you roughly 30-45 minutes of wait time in the lobby (so not really recommended for impatient toddlers, at least mine's a bit tolerant with a few distractions here and there but still unprofessional!) -- dentist running late or falling behind? Understandable. but it did not just happen once or twice! There was just this one appointment though that my son and I were running 5 mins late, and had to call beforehand that we were on the way and that we would be a little behind 5 minutes. Guess how "forgiving" they were and was then told to rebook the appointment (no kidding!). We may be on the wrong on that one, but hey, be professional enough to keep OUR appointments too! And not to mention no one apologizes for their delays or what not. Maybe a little refresher on customer service would help! We may trust the dentists handling my kid, but I don't trust how they handle the billing side of the business. It is advised to check your account statements provided by your insurance to see what were "done" and not done to the insured patient. During my kid's regular checkup, the dentist whom we've seen did not give him the fluoride varnish that should have been applied after cleaning. Then a few days later, insurance sent me a statement stating that he did get the varnish. So I had to call KGD to have this reversed since none of that happened. The woman on the phone was apologetic and had the corrections made, and insurance sent me the updated adjustments made. No problem. Now came our last appointment with them (since we had to move to a different state), the same thing happened! My son never got varnish applied on his teeth since they claimed he did not need it, but said on the paper statement that he did! Now I asked the woman on the front desk (i'm sure i was talking to someone else because the way she handled our convo), She said that she will make a note on it and I said that I was expecting changes to be made on the statement. Now guess what? That woman NEVER did a thing on top of the fact that she never apologized for it! What a way to end our services with them. This gives me an impression of how unprofessional the billing people handle this. read more

I went to this dental practice for a couple years (my first yelp review on KGD was in 2013) and from then until winter 2015 my dentist was switched three times. First I saw Rogers then she left the practice, then I saw Dr B (who was awesome) but she also left, and then surprise my most recent visit I was told I had a new dentist, Dr Yoon. I don't like that I wasn't notified of the change in dentist, you just show up to your pre-booked appointment to find a new dentist assigned. Bad customer service if you ask me, I don't appreciate being tossed around. I also feel like this practice tends to lean towards the most aggressive and expensive treatments. I decided to get a second opinion on the treatment plan KGD gave me from a different local dentist a long history (20+ years) in Kitsap county and let's just say I found that KGD was not at all conservative and realistic in the treatment plan given to me. I'm so happy I went with my gut feeling and got a second opinion. My dental hygienist was a sweetheart but the front desk staff /billing lady is a little cold. I don't want to bash individuals but you'd think that in a customer service position being friendly would be kind of a priority so that individuals want to come back. Overall, I was a fan of this place at first but the experience went downhill and I just don't trust this practice anymore or want to support them with my business. The new dentist I just tried out was like a breath of fresh air so if you're considering KGD I would suggest you don't. read more

I cannot recommend MELISSA J BASSHAM DDS and her staff enough. Other dentists I have tried say they are gentle, but KGD is by far the most considerate and truly gentle dentists I have gone to. If something is bothering you during your visit they will immediately stop and make sure you are ok. Came in for a check up, x-rays & cleaning with a Goupon purchase . Gail was my hygienist. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. What Impresses me the most is that they were very aware of the germ factor ,changing gloves when they should. To keep you safe and protected from germs ... unlike I've seen at other dentists ,where the assistant thinks the gloves are for her protection and that it's ok to pull the under seat of the chair over and use a pen , leave the room and then want you to open your mouth. Gail impressed me right from the start . Everything she touched she wiped down with ain't bacterial whips and changed her gloves right before asking me to open my mouth That did it for me . I'm extremely scared of going to the dentist, but the staff at KGD has been very accommodating, and has helped me calm down. They are soothing without being patronizing. I also have vertigo and can't lie back in a chair all the way, and they've been able to accommodate me. In the past, other dentists have refused. The staff at KGD has always wanted to take care of my teeth, and in order to do that, they've been understanding, and they've known what they have to do to help me relax so they can do their jobs. My experience was absolutely wonderful! The dental hygienist was amazing and made me feel very at ease. The office is clean and inviting. When I went to go brush my teeth beforehand, I was a bit confused (because there was no toothpaste) but I found out that the toothbrushes that are provided already have toothpaste on them! They were a great office when they first opened just a few years ago. Now that they have made a name for themselves they are dropping everyone that has state dental. I would have given 5 but after my last appointment I wasn't very pleased. Don't get me wrong I like the dentists; im so glad Dr. Rogers is back, the front office girls are wonderful; sometimes they can be a little short which can be mistaken as rude but I've been there enough to know that just means they've had a stressful day, and the assistants and 1 hygienist is great. Unfortunately I didn't have my normal hygienist, Amanda, and had Gail this last time and I don't want to see her again. I was seriously thinking about leaving but the girls upfront made sure I will be with Amanda next time. She took me back fifteen minutes late and kept me fifteen minutes late and never said sorry. I almost didn't make it back to work on time. She was really rough while cleaning I was so sore Probably the biggest she told me I needed all this treatment, yes the hygienist told me I need all this work not the Dr, and when the Dr came in they told me I look good we'll just watch a few places. Why is a hygienist telling me I need work isn't that the Dr's job? I was so scared I needed all this work and nothing. I really enjoy the office, but that made me really upset and thought it was unprofessional. We'll see at the next appointment what happens maybe they'll get the 5 I know they deserve. read more

VERY, Very disappointed. Really bad scheduling. LOTS & Lots of BAD PAIN and VERY poor fitting lower denture. Another dental professional told me the denture was "not very good". Would not recommend. The dentists are gentle, knowlegeable and extremely pleasant. I had a wonderful experience once in the chair and receiving dental care. The billing person, Genieva is an annoyance and is condescending. Dealing with her is like having spiders crawl on you, it feels creepy due to the obvious insincerity. We did have a recent issue this week with a crown that needed to be re-cemented. I was shocked that a price of $105 was quoted after the work was done-- no mention was made about any cost beforehand and so it had seemed that the office was going to do this 5-minute job as a courtesy. When questioning the bill especially since the crown was originally placed in that office, Genieva said the crown was not the work of KGD. Even as of the middle of January they still had their "Christmas out of the office" greeting remaining on the answering machine!! This inattention to detail makes me wonder what else they are missing. When calling to the office to voice our dissatisfaction with the bill issue and not being told beforehand of the expected cost, the receptionist asked if I wanted to talk to Genieva and I told her no, that I did not care for Genieva and do not want to talk to her. She said to me "Well that is rude--she is my mother and I don't appreciate you saying that." She then promptly transferred my call to Genieva. I went ahead and told Genieva that we were dissatisfied and planned to take our business elsewhere, and I asked her if the dentists/owners would be made aware of our complaints, and she said "oh, yes, this office is aware of you people and your complaints." When coming in to the office today to retrieve our records we were able to see the proof that the crown mentioned above indeed was placed at KGD. read more
