Our animals are part of our family just like most people that have animals, we love them dearly and would give a kidney to them if we could and they needed it. My cat, Charlie is a big part of our family and we took him to Kitties and Kanines today because he hasn't ate or drank anything in 3 days, I was able to squirt some Pedialyte in his mouth last night, he has lost so much weight, his coat is dull looking where it's usually shiny and he's shedding an ungodly amount, I explained this to the nurse, Daisy when we went into the exam room, she was very rude, and lifted up on the nape of his neck and said well he has to be eating something because he's not dehydrated, Charlie is not even moving, barely has the energy to lift his head up, she was very argumentative with me, did not want to listen and we all know that if you love your animal then you know your animal and you can tell when they're sick or something is wrong and you want to know that when you have to take them to get checked out, you want it to be with someone who you trust has your animals best intentions and someone who actually listens to you because no one knows your animal like you do, the last thing you need is someone telling you that your animal is eating when you know otherwise. Evidently the actual vet thought different about him being dehydrated because they gave him fluids. XxI have been to this clinic a few times and haven't had a bad experience until today, the ladies up front are super nice and there was also a nurse named Alex who was very nice and very informative when it came to Charlie. If I would have to guess, I would say that I'm not the first person who has had a bad experience with Daisy, but hopefully I am the last... Please learn some manners because this has made me second guess bringing any of my animals back here if there is people like Daisy that is supposed to be caring for them. read more

The staff is rude & not cooperative with requests. I do not recommend this place at all. They just lost a customer. I will never go back there. And they do not care that they lost a customer. I cannot trust them with my pet now. People have choices which it seems they do not consider. Medications are very expensive over there despite what I was told. Alternatives were not provided. I was completely appauled by the customer service I received this morning. I was taking my daughters dog to be spayed/neutered. My daughter is lower income and was given a voucher. When I arrived they made everyone stand out in the rain until they were ready for the groups (cat or dog). When I came in I gave them my daughters name and stated she has a voucher, the lady says, "no". I said ok it may be under her maiden name, same response. Then I said well maybe try the name of the dog, same short repsonse with a look of disgust on her face. Then proceeds to tell me that I do not have an appointment I will need to go. I called my daughter and asked her if she made a mistake on the day or something. My daughter said no, I wrote it down. My daughter said she was on the phone with the lady that set the appointment for 11 minutes and the lady said, "You have another dog you need spayed/neutered?" Then snorted in disgust. I got the distinct feeling since they do work with individuals that are trying to save money or are of a lower income bracket (vouchers) that they have the right to treat you like you are dirt. read more

Horrid discriminatory treatment. The vet cancelled and refused to vaccinate my puppy because she said she doesn't work with people who make business selling dogs which was a wrongful assumption. On top of that they let 2 non-minority dog owners who had a litter of pups to vaccinate be serviced and didn't even bother to ask if those puppies would be sold/given to other owners? the cancellation was so unprofessional and rude, I had to ask the receptionist what was taking so long after being ignored, she felt so bad and didn't even bother to translate/repeat everything the Vet was saying. It was embarrassing shocking and humiliating. read more

Staff has always been professional and courteous. Kitties and Kanines is a spay and neuter clinic staffed with two veterinarians, and two veterinarian techs, plus other employees and volunteers. I know that this clinic works with the River Valley Animal Welfare Coalition to keep the animal population down which I think is completely awesome! Their prices are extremely affordable in comparison to any other vet clinic in town. The prices do range differently for how big or small your pet is but the average you will pay is $40 for a dog and $30 for a cat. I will say that they must have their Rabies shots or the clinic is required to administer them for only $5. I will take it! Now for my personal experience. I made my appointment on a Thursday after I recieved a reccomendation for them at the Humane Society (the HS doesnt do public spay and neuters). I filled out my paper work and scheduled it for that following Monday. I was having a horrible day up to that point and forgot to go to the ATM and get cash... the woman at the front desk let me take my kitty home! I paid her the next day :-) Some things to remember: Drop off time is between 7 and 7:45 the day of your appointment. Pick up time is 3:30 to 4:30 also the day of your appointment. They only accept cash or check!! Rabies is required. They give you pre-op sheets to follow and after care sheets as well. The incisions they make are small which I was very happy about. Sitka (my kitty) came home pretty loopy from the medication but she was herself again the next day! :-) read more

Took our miniature poodle here to be neutered recently. We have used this service in the past and been satisfied. The level of service and the quality of work we received this last time has made us determined to never return. Not only did our little boy end up with an infection that cost us more than another $100 at our regular veterinarian but this place has established policies that are absolutely unacceptable. We were told to show up at 3:30 to pick up our puppy. We walked up to the door at 3:32 and encountered an employee sitting on a lawn chair by the door who informed us that since we were late for our appointment we would have to wait outside until 4:00 for the next pickup appointment. Apparently another employee was inside reading aloud the after care instructions to a group who had arrived at 3:30 or before. We went in anyway to listen to the instructions. The girl inside reading them stopped and made it very plain that she was annoyed that we had interrupted her and tried to tell us that we had to leave and come back in 30 minutes. We told her to go ahead and continue and she finally did with obvious exasperation. During her reading another customer in the group was talking to her children and the girl reading stopped reading and pointedly stared at the offender until she shut up and then went on with her reading, taking the time to go back and repeat what she had already read. While it is decidedly rude to interrupt someone when they are addressing a group it just seemed like it was handled childishly. When the reading was done the employee from outside came in and very nicely took our payment for services and then we proceeded to wait as the after-care girl brought out one pet at a time to happy owners. She worked her way through all the dogs then started on the cats. As this part of the process proceeded my wife noticed that the girl bringing out the pets not only wasn't bringing out our boy but also she brought out the puppy belonging to the "interrupting lady" last, after all the kittens, in an obvious attempt to "punish" her for her bad behavior during the reading part of the program. Right after the last lady received her puppy and we were still anxiously awaiting sight of our little guy, the after-care girl proceeded to start the process of reading aloud the instructions for the 4:00 group that had assembled in the meantime. At this point, I went to the front of the group and vehemently demanded that my dog be returned to me. The girl argued and I insisted and she finally gave up and hand wrote a release form that my wife signed and gave us our dog. The point of this review is to make others aware that being a minute or two late for your pickup time WILL NOT BE TOLERATED by this establishment and will result in you being put in your place and your animal being withheld to teach you a lesson. When you drop off your pet and are told the pickup time this is in no way made clear. We have to wonder: if this is how these people treat human beings who have a voice, what kind of treatment do our beloved pets receive? We have another dog due for neutering and we will be taking him to our veterinarian. The money saved is just not worth the aggravatio n. read more

I arrived on June 1st at approximately 12:15 to a long line of customers waiting outside with their pets. The temperature was in the 90's with humidity of 50%. There were a few water bowls containing hot water, and a few trees for shade. We waited in the heat along with our pets for over an hour. I could not believe a Vet would treat animals so cruelly. Not only the animals were suffering their owners also. Once we were allowed inside things went better. However, I am suspicious of their business practices of allowing animals to suffer in the heat. I am not the only customer that was appalled by their treatment. I for one would never trust them with my pet again. If they can't handle the customers inside perhaps they should allow appointments. read more

Awful service! Very unprofessional staff. We had our puppy over there to be spayed recently. The first time, we tried to set up an appointment for this spaying and the person said we had to call every day to get on the list for next month. They said there was no list for next month. So we called for over a month nearly every day. Then on the first day of the month of June, we call and they say we weren't on the list and we should have called sooner. Uh, what? They acted like we were dumb because we didn't get on the list. We tried to explain we had called most of the days and they said there was no list. Suddenly there is a list. They were ambivalent and said maybe it was a new person who might not have known. So we were added to the list. We make an appointment. We get our puppy home. They recommended she stay 10 days in the kennel or crate. She is a very active dog and we tried to keep her from being too active, but she just wouldn't mind. Therefore we called them again and said she was being too active and had been pulling at her incision suture. They put in staples and gave her a cone. They said 7 to 10 days and she would be out of it and healed properly. We call on day 7 to make an appointment and they say wait until day 8 or 9. Ok. No problem. Called 8th day...too busy. Called end of 8th day to verify 9th day okay...any time is good. No appointment needed; we will be able to get to your puppy quickly." We go there on that day with no appointment because not needed. They have set up vaccinations and said we would have to wait our turn. Our jobs do not allow simply waiting for extended period without taking a day off which is why we plan everything in advance and attempted to set it up in advance. They acted like we should have known there were vaccinations. "So you'll have to wait your turn." "But we were told we could get in right away." "Oh. Huh." HUH? We got huh. "We were told we didn't need appointment and we were told to come in, that there would be no problem in getting her staples out today. You said this was a good time." "Oh, well, we're doing vaccinations so you'll have to wait." *growls in frustration* "Yeah, you said that." We could not wait for an indefinite amount of time outside while they made up their minds. No employee seems to know what the other one knows. Once you show up and you state your case, the next person acts like you made up what you were just told over the phone. It does not have to be that hard. Calling back and forth, driving 30 minutes back and forth for no reason, is exasperating. There is crap communication there. 1 star. If they treat people like that, imagine how they are treating our pets. They should step up on their customer service and communication because it certainly affects customer satisfaction. read more

Great mission - living by a WalMart I get a steady stream of cats dumped by people who should never own pets. This is a wonderful caring clinic which provides affordable vaccinations and low-cost spay and neuter. I needed my dog spayed but was having a hard time setting money aside for the cost at a full-service vet. Kitties and Kanines gave me an application for limited income pet owners to get a $50 voucher from Arkansas Animal Rescue Foundation (AARF). This paid for the total cost of spaying my dog of less than 50 pounds. I also got heartworm checks, affordable heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention and vaccinations for her and my other babies which would have cost much more at my regular vet. The staff here are not only professional but kind and caring for the animals and their humans. The place is clean and run very efficiently. I was very impressed and very happy with this clinic. I wish I could give this place no stars! I thought this was a cost effective place to take my puppy to get his shots (parvo, distemper, etc.). He is 5 months old and just had his last booster. I took him to the emergency clinic last night due to his lethargy, throwing up, and not eating. He was diagnosed with parvo. The vet at the Emergency Animal Clinic in Fort Smith, AR informed me that they do not refrigerate the vaccines at Kitties and Kanines. Therefore, all the vaccinations are useless. This is really frustrating for a pet parent like myself that tried to do all I could for my puppy. I want to inform everyone else. PLEASE DO NOT GET SHOTS HERE. Hopefully my puppy will get better and make it through. read more

I have used them for both the shot clinic and for spaying, I was very happy with the results. My animals were treated kindly, and since I have problems walking one of the staff members helped me get my large breed pup into the car as the pup was groggy and I was managing another dog. Tired of cat dumping in the country.. Even more tired of pregnant cats in the country. So my husband and I rounded up 8-9 feral cats and took them to Kitties and Kanines. These cats were so wild they bit through our leather gloves when we tried to catch them. The folks at Kitties and Kanines did not once complain. They took care of them and even joked because one got loose for a time and reeked havoc. I recommend them every chance I get. They are great people doing a great job. read more

Don't bother coming to this place to save money. You are better off paying more and going someplace more accredited if you care about you pet and service. I went here on a recommendation from someone else. First of all, the cash payment only thing is sketchy but also I told them my dog was a rescue that had been tortured and that she didn't trust anyone. The girl said that was fine we would go in the back and make friends with her. We weren't there a minute until one of the vets pushed open the door and told me he was tired of being bit and I better learn to control my pet. I was flabbergasted. The young girl kept apologizing for him and said he wasn't normally like that. I was really upset and told the girl I was afraid to leave my dog there but she convinced me that it would be okay. when i walked up front, the same vet was telling the girl in front that he shouldn't even spay my dog if I couldn't control it. He then turned and went back to wherever he came from and the girl at the front told me she was sorry for the things he said and that he was normally not like that. I worried all day and went to pick her up that afternoon. She seemed really scared so I wondered if the vet terrorized her because she was acting so strange. When I got her home, her spay stitching looked funny and it looked like there was a hole and it hadn't been sewn up correctly and her incision looked huge. I wasn't a vet so I didn't know if this was normal. After about a week, it was still not healing and my dog just never acted right since. When I took my dog to my regular vet to have him check her, he could not believe how sloppy the operation was. He also noticed that their incision was bigger than normal. Shouldn't a business where its main job is to do spay and neuters be more knowledgeable and be professional at doing this type of surgery? Another thing I thought was strange was the girl who was giving me my post op instructions said that an e-collar wasn't necessary because female dogs rarely ever mess with their stitches. Are you serious? This is not my first dog and I'm sure anyone who has gone through stitches in a pet knows that that's the farthest from the truth. This place was just unprofessional and scarily didn't seem to know much about what they do. And now my poor dog will have to go through the pain of more stitches because it wasn't done right in the first place. Ugh, if you can afford it, take your dog to a knowledgeable vet for these services, and if you can't, find a better low cost spay and neuter clinic. read more
