First time making an appointment for my Giant Breed dog for Grooming. He is a Large Lazy sweetheart of a dog. Drop him off after the consultation. Which was already with a different groomer than the one I had requested. Red flag number one. I get home and not two seconds after walking through the door, I get a phone call stating I needed to come pick up my boy because he was not wanting to walk towards the bathtub. I was told that they can't handle him and his lazy demeanor. Absolutely never in his life has he been turned away from a groomer. Which shows this facility's incompetence when it comes to stubborn dogs. As far as I am concerned if they have an issue with large dogs and are incapable of handling them, don't accept the appointment to begin with. read more

Went in to ask about pricing for my small dog and buy a couple things. I was so saddened to see a small yorkie getting groomed, shaking and crying as she was chained to the pole... the employee was just standing there texting on her phone. I would hope if my dog was as uncomfortable as that puppy in that situation, they would try to hurry the process and finish as quickly as they can. I will not be taking my dog there. They sold me a sick bird. You would think that a business all about animal care/well-being would want to make sure the animals they sell are actually healthy. They attempted to kick my father out because he did not have his dog on a leash. His dog is a certified PSD and cannot use a leash per his task. The store needs to be more educated on ADA guidelines for service dogs. Worse yet, this is a store with the sole focus of ANIMALS and yet the staff is uneducated about something as critical as service animals. I am imploring my father to never shop at this store again. This is discrimination and taken very seriously by federal law. They had better fix it before it becomes a bigger issue for them! read more

Took my dog in for a haircut. Picked him up a few hours later to find out that he was not given a haircut because he was "too rowdy". This if after he has been there multiple times before for a haircut and nail trims. They still charged me $52 for a bath. Yes. FIFTY TWO DOLLARS FOR JUST A BATH. Somehow he wasn't "too rowdy" to get completely dried to the skin after the bath, however does not smell like he had a bath at all. Do not recommend. I went into Vetco for a simple checkup and to get a second opinion on anxiety medications prescribed by my dog's regular vet. Before my dog went into the room, I had told the vet and the ladies up at the front desk that he has really bad anxiety and will bite if you touch his paws and butt, which is common for corgis or any short legged dogs in general. By the time the appointment was over, Dr. Parcel came out and spoke to me in front of three other guests saying loudly that my dog was extremely aggressive and they had to wrestle him. In addition to that, she blamed me stating it was my fault for my dog being scared of the vet. At the end, I took him home, and noticed that one of his eyes was all red and swollen. I immediately called my friend, who is a vet, and she told me it was subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is caused by strangulation (choking) or traumatic injury. My dog did not have this before we went. I ended up calling with Vetco again to tell them and instead of helping me, Dr. Parcel blamed it on me stating that it was my fault that the dog was aggressive and that she would no longer be seeing Jupiter. Keep in mind that I had already informed them about his anxiety and that I came there for a second opinion about the medications. They pushed my dog over the limit that, according to HER and HER words, he started screaming like crazy, peed all over himself, and that they had to wrestle him. In which case, as most professionals, they should have stopped and not forced him over his limits. I was literally waiting in the lobby (due to COVID, we are not allowed in the rooms), which is no excuse not to come out and talk to me about it. Dr. Parcel told me she would not pay for a different vet to treat his injury because "You can not prove that it was us that caused it and I will not pay the bill." She blamed it on my car, which makes no sense. My dog has been going to his normal vet for 3 1/2 years and never ever have we experienced such aggressive behavior or unprofessionalism from a vet. We went here because we joined the VitalCare Petco program, safe to say, we will end our plan with it. As a vet, Dr. Parcel should know how to handle anxious dogs, much like how a dentist should know how to handle kids who are scared of the dentist. The dentist is not going to pin down the patient and wrestle/choke the child until they pop a blood vessel in their eye; therefore, she, a vet, should not do that to a dog. If you plan on going here, please RECONSIDER. Be prepared for Dr. Parcel to treat you as if you do not know anything, talk to you in condescending tones/attitudes/ and gaslight you, and if your dog is scared or anxious, the vet will be aggressive with them and not comfort them. read more

VETCO REVIEW The office ladies/assistants were very kind. The Vet was aggressive with my dog in front of me and other customers and petco employees. In fact a petco employee that I know saw and called me the following day to ask me how I'm feeling and how my pet is doing, and to assure me that that type of dog handling is not ok at petco and offered me to file a complaint. If your dog jumps up even gently for hugs, sniffs, licks or gets super excited in new places with new people go somewhere else or your pet will get scolded and you will feel like a failure. I really like how they have rescue animals there for adoption on Saturday. Since we recently acquired a new puppy, we went to Petco to get the her some toys, bedding, treats, leash, and a collar. Honestly, I was disappointed in their selection. They didn't seem to have a wide variety. It wasn't that they didn't have anything for dogs, it's just that I expected more for a store that specializes in pets. Maybe my expectations were too high. My bad. Took my German Shepherd in for a bath and offered to help in that she is a bit hyper at times. The groomer got extremely defensive saying she was the only person working. I said: for $60.00 I expect a $60.00 job. She said she was not going to deal with an aggressive dog. My shepherd has never bitten anyone. She's just a bit hard to handle in the tub. So, I'm standing there thinking getting a bad feeling about this groomer's ability to give my baby the attention she deserves. I said to the girl: Ahhh I don't think I want you handling my dog with your attitude and we left the building. Be warned. If you use the grooming shop, they do not honor the price quote they give you. Everything here costs extra, trimming the feet, cleaning the ears, even BRUSHING. A 52.00 quote to shave a cocker spaniel into a summer cut turned into $75.00. In no way should this have happened. When I complained, I received this reply... "Thank you for notifying us of your concern. After reevaluating the time required to give our pet customers excellent grooming services and an increase in the cost of supplies, we have had to revise our pricing policy for grooming department. Even with our price increase, you will find that we are still competitive with other local grooming businesses. I took 2 cocker spaniels to Petsmart and paid 47.00 for a summer shave, full bath/dry out, brushing out the ears, trimming the feet and cleaning the ears. They had them done in 2 and a half hours (both of them). I paid what I was quoted. I will never ever use Petco again for anything after this experience for my 3rd cocker, so I hope you won't either. They clearly don't care about their word, price quote or reputation. By the way, they shaved the cocker's ears claiming they were "too matted"... which was not true. read more

Just came from out of town. Was quoted $18 for a bath and then ended up paying $34 for a bath for my 10 pound, short haired dog. Was told the nail grinding was included only to find out it wasn't and they refused to honor their word. Then I asked if they could put the leash under one of my dogs leg due to neck issues and they refused! Every groomer I've ever been to does this, but not Petco. After years of having grooming at Petco, this last time I was very disappointed with the outcome of the two dogs I took. To begin, the groomer I selected was not the groomer that groomed the dogs, so when I saw the result, I inquired as to whether the groomer I chose did the grooming, and I was told that a trainee was the one who groomed them. If trainees are going to groom the cost should not be the same as the already trained groomer. My cost was the same as if the chosen groomer did the grooming. I was appalled to find out that Petco grooming is not friendly to dogs over 8 years old. I tried to get my dog groomed and the manager said he had "aged out". I guess only young dogs deserve to be well groomed!!! read more

My wife is the one who makes the trip to Petco's. Love the fact your pet can go with you, which she always take one of our dogs along with her. She has always been pleased with their wide selection of pet products and services they offer. The prices are reasonable, the store is always clean, well stocked, with a very knowledgeable staff. It's in a wonderful location that is easy to reach from anyplace in Dort Smith, Arkansas. Only a five to ten minute drive from just about anywhere in the city. We have dealt you you guys since you came to Ft Smith, and appreciate your selections and reasonable prices. This is a good store but we prefer Petsmart for most of our pets needs. The main complaint that I have is that they clean the small animal cages with a shop vac and it stinks so bad that if you walk anywhere near that area you will not forget it for awhile. They really need to schedule the cage cleanings for more appropriate times. read more

Decent, this one smells tons better then the other one. I've gotten a few good check out ladies (one was I believe a manager) and very nice. Was helpful. But I've also gotten a couple that had horrible body odor and was cut and dry. It's the only petco we have so I have to go back to get my dog's food. Don't take your dog for grooming here, you might not get him back! Let me first say I have been a customer for many many years and have take many of my dogs here for grooming. But after what just happened, NEVER AGAIN! So, I took my Yorkie to his grooming appt at 5:00, I was told she would call me when she was done (Rachel). After waiting by the phone for a while, by 8:30 when they had not called, I did! When I called, she says "oh I tried to call, and you better hurry because we're about to close." She never called and I had no voicemails!! They have numbers to both me and my husband on file; and we received NO calls! When I arrived, she was very nonchalant. I asked what she planned to do with my dog after closing time if I had not called and gotten here in time? She gave a name of someone who would've taken my dog home.... I couldn't believe what I was hearing! This person intentionally did not even try to reach me to pick my dog up. And planned to take my dog out of the store without my consent, obviously, or she would've tried to call me over and over before they closed. I'm not sure what she planned to do with my dog, but she didn't plan to call me to come pick him up before they locked the doors. I called the mngr the next day to report this, before she does get to snatch up someone's dog! I hope they truly investigate her as the manager promised. But I won't take my dog back there.
