The Old Post Office Sweets and Gifts - Slice of Marion Berry pie - absolutely divine!

Perhaps more importantly, the pies. OMG the pies. Home made, perfect balance between fruit and sugar, and on the Marion berry pie, a perfect crumble crust. These are the kind of home-made pies your mom, or her mom make, and you know you're lucky to enjoy. Awesome!

I come for the chili and pie. Both are delicious. I add on sour cream and cheese with Fritos to my chili and get a bowl. It's enough to fill me up for two meals. But for most a bowl is nice and hearty to fill you up. A cup will want you craving for more. The Marion berry pie is absolutely delicious. A bit on the pricy side but that's just the economy inflating everything. I would say it's worth it. The Berrys are nice and tart and the crust and crumb are buttery goodness. I always eat this pie while I'm driving and regret not getting two slices. I got the Bedford ginger beer and it was pretty tasty. Overall, if I'm ever in the area and even if I'm 1.5 hours away I come here. Get yourself some pie and chili.

Several garden art pieces were not priced, so I politely asked the owner, Kathy, for help. She ignored me completely while continuing a casual phone conversation with a friend. I stood there waiting for about seven minutes before asking again. This time, she put the caller on hold and walked over with me, only to point out a tiny price tag almost deliberately hidden behind the piece. Instead of simply showing it to me respectfully, she said, "Do you read English?" Then she asked, "Where are you from?" Before I could even answer, she said "Mexico" and walked away. For the record, I am Native American from the Klallam Tribe. This store operates on Native land, and the owner had the audacity to treat me like a foreigner in my own homeland. The interaction was rude, dismissive, and openly disrespectful. Antiques and garden art are not worth being humiliated or stereotyped. Customer service matters, and basic human decency matters even more. I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere.

Nelson's Duckpond sits in a residential area along a picturesque road. The parking was on their vast lawn and there were a few spots in the shade, which was a welcome relief during the very hot July summer. You were free to wander around the farm, partake in the U Pick Lavender option, nibble a few lavender poundcake samples at the tent, quench your thirst with some drinks, patronize the store with a ton of lavender stuff (I bought lip balm, poundcake mix, sugar, BBQ rub spices, chocolates, soap and room spray). The best part, however, according to the kid, was the duckpond in the back. The shop owner was super friendly when my son inquired as to why this place was called the "Duckpond" as he soon found out why - a turtle (forgot the name) and some ducks all share the vast huge back yard as one big happy fauna family. My son was lucky enough to be able to feed the ducks with some feed that was available for the Lavender Fest visitors. Everyone was super friendly and the grounds were very pretty. It wasn't only the lavender fields, but everything around it! I'd love to patronize their cottages next time I'm in town!
