AVOID THIS ORGANIZATION AT ALL COST!!!! The volunteer who informed be about fostering for the kitty connection was purely wonderful and kind, which got me thrilled to become a foster for it. Once I got connected to the owner Marie, IT WAS NOT PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AT ALL. I wish I could give 0 star for this place just because her unprofessionalism and attitude. I have fostered for other shelter/ rescue organizations for 4 years and never once did they refuse to provide information about the cat(s) I'd be taking care of. I have no experience in taking care of pregnant cats or cats in medical condition so I told the volunteer and MARIE (through a call) that I would like to know in advance to prepare for it. The volunteer said that's no problem at all, MARIE specifically told me through a phone call that she would. Then, I got absolutely no updates or information about cat AND because Marie specifically mentioned that she is always busy, I assumed that the initial pick up day of Wednesday would be postponed. Then all of a sudden, Marie messages me if I am still coming? I told her before that because of work, she'd have to tell me what time to come by but I can work out my schedule as long as it's after 3PM. I guess she totally ignored my request and wanted things to work out in her own way. I said that her organization seems unreliable and I won't be working with them. After that, only because I mentioned the volunteer's name on text that the volunteer told be that I'd be informed of the cat I'd be taking care of, I guess she blamed everything on the volunteer. The nice volunteer gave me an apology message when it's not even her fault. BY FAR MY WORST EXPERIENCE WITH FOSTERING FOR PETS. AVOID!! read more

The staff makes a judgment and whether a cat is a good fit or not, and then they are inflexible and closed to discussions or clarifications. In my view, they fail to acknowledge that when we reach out asking for a cat, we have also considered whether or not the cat is a good fit. It's unbelievably frustrating trying to adopt from Kitty Connection. It's the third time that I try to adopt a cat and they tell me that we are not a good fit. Why? The staff is very rude. They try to force more animals on you or will make you go through all the steps for adoption including having a child meet animals to then give said animal to the highest bidder. This business is said to be about helping animals find forever homes but they only seem to care about profit. Go somewhere else and don't get bullied into adopting 3 animals. Also if you go somewhere else they will return your call in a timely manner. They have tortured so many families don't let it be yours. read more

I use to foster for kitty connection. They gave me a kitten who was deadly ill and we were not sure she would make it. When she was old enough I wanted to adopt her they told me I could not because she was already adopted. She should have not been adopted out when we did not know if she would make it or not. I told them I did not want to foster anymore and if she could pick up the kitten she told me to put it down and when I said I did she called me a liar and 6 months later she was on the craigslist ad looking for a home... read more

While we didn't work directly with the owner, we got a fairly prompt response (within a day and a half) from one of the volunteers who fosters these cats. This volunteer was very nice and helpful, and flexible on when we could do a virtual call to meet the kitty. We ended up signing the papers right after the call because we just knew we loved her already! Once they get back to you the process is quick. Our girl has been through a lot but the volunteer clearly treated her very well, because two days in and she's already a lap cat. A great local place, where these cats are treated so well. Someone from this rescue stole my rather gorgeous cat from outside my house on the north shore and took him to Boston, put him in a cage, was about to list him to sell. Rather than apologize they were condescending, nasty, and threatened me with a lawyer for questioning them about it. It's serious mistake to take a cat from in front if it's house. Communities have animal control and lost pet pages which should be utilized at the very least. They could have easily apologized. They didn't. Need i say more ? read more

I fostered and ended up adopting a wonderful senior chihuahua who only lived about 3 years due to congestive heart failure but left such a lasting impact on me. I bonded strongly to Romeo (formerly Little Man) and having to put him down was heartbreaking though it was the right thing to do at the time due to his worsening condition--KC had told me he had a heart condition when I first took him in. He was a wonderful companion and I'm very thankful to Marie Mazzeo & Kitty Connection for allowing me the opportunity to care for Romeo during his later years. He helped me endure & overcome a health crisis of my own. He was a sweetheart of a dog--and so beloved that I still mourn his loss though I have another adopted darling, now senior, canine angel, Ruby, to keep me company. read more

This place is very disorganized. It wouldn't pass a sanitary inspection. Cat dishes, litter boxes, spoons and medical items are all washed in the same sink. Red flag for cross-contamination. The place smells like cat urine - which according to previous reviews, has been an on-going issue for the past several years. Medical records are not well kept and people have been given misinformation but you will never hear "I am sorry for our mistakes". Cats are treated as objects that need to be adopted as soon as possible. Very sad. KC does not check potential owners. I know someone who adopted at KC but didn't have the authorization of her mother to do so and later (same day) had to give the pet to someone else. Many pet adoption centers ask for references that they do check and some visit homes to make sure that the cats will be in a good environment. None of this happens at KC. The leader is not a very nice lady. In fact, she said that she hates people. This is obvious by the way she treats anyone who is not willing to be treated as a doormat by her. She is extremely forgetful, and as a result, she makes frequent mistakes that affect the customers and pets. However, she blames the volunteers and do not accept her fault or seems unable to see her shortcomings. When something goes wrong, she tells the volunteers that they hurt her feelings. As the CEO, she needs to learn to manage her emotions. Instead, she makes rude and deminer comments even in front of costumers and strangers. She has a hard life and needs a break. She can't give her best to the people and the different animals under her care. read more

After thinking this over a bit over the months, I've decided I really need to update this, and I feel bad doing so, but the other poster who left a negative review has a point. I've been to other shelters that have been really nice, clean, spacious, etc. and KC unfortunately doesn't really follow that standard. I think my 5 star review (and possibly other 5 star reviews) is strongly influenced by the love I feel for the cat I adopted. I'm so grateful to have her in our lives, regardless of where she came from. But the fact that she mysteriously fell ill just a couple days after we adopted her never sit right with me. Clearly she had something going on while she was there. And it was something pretty serious. I'm just grateful we were able to scrape up the money to pay for all of her vet bills (3 kitty emergency room visits, rounds of antibiotics, and multiple vet checkups in just the first 2 weeks). I didn't really realize that the basement they have the cats in houses cats on a more longterm basis. I thought it was a network of foster homes that only brought the cats there on adoption nights...but I think I misunderstood that. The basement is very small and has a strong smell, which is hard to control I'm sure! I'm sure that everyone involved in KC has the best of intentions. I don't really feel like they're only in it for the money, or that they don't truly want to find homes for these animals. But I do kind of wish it could be a bit better conditions for the animals' sake. One thing I do like is that they make the effort to reach out through PetSmart and hold adoption nights frequently. At least this helps expand their network so they don't have to squish more cats in a small space. Like I said, I am just exceedingly grateful to have my cat. I feel bad that I'm downgrading my review after all this time, but I have had it on my mind. The kitty connection is in a sketchy, unsanitary basement. My husband and I adopted 2 cats in December 2013. There was a lot of discrepancies in their vet records and they failed to be upfront about their health problems before we adopted them. Obviously, the common pet owner has no idea what the vet records actually say. They use shorthand and scribble the information. Quite frankly, they should have paid us to take these poor cats away from this shelter. In the last 2 months we've racked up more than $1,200 in vet bills caused by anything ranging from ringworm, yeast infections in their ears, a tape worm, giardia, etc. They never mentioned that one of them had a tumor in its eye, or that she has a heart murmur. When adopting a cat, I expect it to be fully examined by a vet before I agree to adopt it. I don't think that's too much to ask for. I regret not having our vet examine them first. As much as this has been a financial burden for us, we've brought out their personalities and grown to love them unconditionally. As far as what I'd suggest to this shelter is setting up more temporary foster homes so these poor animals aren't crammed into every available square inch of this place. I also understand that they are underpaid and that they work hard to take care of the animals. However, this is not an excuse to lie about the cats' health. I also think this place could use a surprise visit from the board of health. read more

Do you like dead kittens? If you do, you should absolutely purchase a kitten from Kitty Connection. They are in the business of selling kittens that have been fixed WAY too early, selling them as soon as they can, and refusing to take responsibility for the inevitable vet bills that follow. I'm a dog person, but even I know that kittens are as fragile as they are adorable. This shelter takes rescues, and I get that rescues are often separated from their mothers too quickly, and they are not in the best health often. However as an organization, their philosophy is NOT to care for the kittens until they are sound enough of body to be neutered/spayed, but to fix and sell the kittens as soon as possible (for $175 a pop) to avoid incurring vet bills themselves. Even if your kitten does get sick hours after you pay to take them into your home, they will not only shirk all financial and moral responsibility, but they will YELL at you about how hard what they do is to accomplish, and that you are an awful person for asking them to step up. Our kitten became extremely ill the day we got her. Three vet visits and a week of almost 24 hour care given by my girlfriend who happens to be a teacher and have the summer off, our kitten is on the mend but by no means out of the woods. All of her litter mates are dead. read more

I went to their adoption event today at a brewery and participated in a 50/50 raffle. Half the money was supposed to go to the organization and the other half to the ticket holder. They said they would call the ticket at 9:10 and when we asked if we should write our number on the ticket we were suggested not to. We waited and waited and eventually the ticket was called at 9:35. The person who won had already left out of frustration from waiting. They called a second number at 9:45 and that person had also left. Afterward they stopped calling tickets, claiming that the previous people must have intended to just leave the money to charity. My friends and I wasted our time waiting for nothing. This was no raffle; it was a robbery. After reading the Yelp reviews, it seems that the majority of the positive reviews are from actual volunteers. Seems a bit biased and desperate. Also, i think it's pretty unprofessional that volunteers actually argue with people after they post a negative review. Either on here or on their FB. read more

Never Again. This place, while probably well intentioned, is a COMPLETE Cluster F***. My family decided to get a cat, and we googled and went to several shelters, and then looked around for a while. We say Kitty connection had an adoption event on a Saturday, so we went. The adoption event is in a sketchy house, around in the basement. It is so small, and REEKS of cat urine. This leads me to believe it's where all the cats live all the time- and it's got to be a board of health issue. We found the kitty we were looking for, and he was perfect! His name is Rusty. While choosing him, we were told he was 10 months, and was neutered that day, always went in his litterbox, and was in good health. When we went to pick him up, another volunteer told us he wasn't neutered yesterday, he just got shots yesterday, because I asked about aftercare. *Mess #1 Mess #2- All rustys paperwork that I was given say he is 2 years old with $100 fee. However, I was told he was 10 months, and paid 130. How old is the cat? Should not be THIS difficult. Mess #3- His vet paperwork and the ladies at Kitty connection told me he was healthy! Yay! Im attaching a photo here, showing that in the upper corner of the vet paperwork, someone hand wrote "Has Distemper 1-17-16" Tried to call Kitty Connection about a million times to figure out WTF that means- The vet checked that he's in good health. Does that mean he got the vaccination? No answer from them. He came home and threw up about 6 times his first night and went to the ER promptly the next morning. The vet said there was visible gas in his intestine- lots of it. He was dewormed ASAP. But they were right about one thing- he does go in the box. read more

got my kitten from here, and am so happy i did, because i would not know the joy that is now named herman. kitty connection is located in Marie Mazzeo's house in medford. what an amazing person she is - she works fulltime and in all her other time, gives herself to helping find homes for abandoned/rescued cats and kittens. she basically lives upstairs, and her downstairs and basement are a shelter. it's quite amazing actually what her and the volunteers do. they also have sister organizations that will drop off rescued cats. AND they also have dogs available for adoption. this is one organization that needs to get some more press. they are amazing and their efforts have saved and placed so many animals. if you are looking to get your pet, get it here. the adoption fee is for a good cause, and i give them money when i can to make sure all the little mouths can be fed and have a place to poop. read more

The crazy wonder cat known as Miles came from Kitty Connection, and our lives are better because of it. We read about Kitty Connection off of a CL posting. The hubs and I made a trek out to Arlington to a house where they were bringing the cats and kittens to be adopted. They had found a litter of kittens in bad shape and had been nursing them back to health. Of the 7 kittens Miles climbed onto my lap, and fell asleep. I was in love. The fee to adopt was $125. A bargain in my opinion. Miles came with all of his shots and already fixed. They also had him Micro chipped. At the vet this would have been MUCH more expensive. When he got home, however, we did soon find out he was sick. He was sneezing, and very... drippy. We took him to the vet (which we needed to do anyways - he was a new kitten and we wanted to have him checked out!) and they gave us some meds. He had an upper respiratory infection, a common and treatable ailment in cats. I can't blame kitty connection for this, they save cats off the streets. If one kitty has a mild cold, they can all catch it and it won't be detected for days. Today, Miles is big and healthy. If not a little rambunctious at times. So, doing this approximately 8 months after adopting :) We love the cat we adopted. He's become a member of the family and is best friends with our 4 year old cat. The pros. Kitty Connection was easy to adopt from. 175$ for a young cat. We picked him out. Took him home 3 days later. He was a rescue, no backstory... (found out from one of the 3 vets we saw after adoption he had signs of physical abuse from his younger years) The cons. Kitty Connetion's contract bothers me. Basically, they reserve the right to take back any cat at any time. That needs to be changed... they reserve the right to take back a cat should the home be deemed unfit for the adoptee / adopted cat. We love our new guy (we renamed him Pepper! :) ) The next thing... they told us he was about 10 monthsold . According to 3 different vets and the paperwork... he's 2 years old. Bit of a white lie to us. We preferred a kitten, or younger cat as it's supposedly easier to introduce a younger cat to an older cat. (we originally wanted a kitten for this reason, but are very happy with Pepper :) ) Next, when we adopted him... he was sick and on antibiotics. Whatever vet they had taken him to gave the wrong diagnosis and wrong medication. Pepper was VERY sick when we got him and they did not disclose that to us. It was more than 500$ in vet bills, and a visit to the emergency pet hospital in quincy before he was well again. We love him, and would do it all over again, but Kitty Connection was slightly deceitful and did not offer any help. Anyhow - we love Pepper, as he is a member of our family. Now a spoiled, lovable, squishy house cat. Happy he and his big brother Oreo (4 year old tuxedo) get along very well. Do I regret adopting from Kitty Connection? No. Would I adopt from them again? Probably not given the experience I had. Would I recommend to others? I'm not sure... honestly. I've read mixed reviews here... so proceed at your own risk. Nothing in life is foolproof. read more

We got the love of our life one year ago. Clarice is awesome! I would like to note that if you want a perfect, 100% healthy cat or kitten, you might not find him/her at this shelter. Our 1.5 lb little bundle of love and energy came with a few health issues. A good dose of Famciclovir knocked out her problems. (Try VetRx or GoodRx for best prices on pet meds). But the volunteers at Kitty Connection were always in the loop and responsive to issues we encountered. The hard working volunteers at this shelter are doing the best they can to save animals who would likely have no chance at life. And they are doing it on a shoestring budget. Donate! Please! I recently found a new home for my dog through Kitty Connection. The short of the long is that my circumstances changed rather abruptly and I could no longer care for my two-year-old pup, who I love more than anything. All of the volunteers with whom I communicated were very helpful. In particular, Marie worked quickly and closely with me to find him the right home. She clearly knows her stuff and was both reassuring and compassionate throughout the entire process. read more

My friend has sent in the pre-adoption paperwork and waited some time. We were told that it would take a week or more, as they are very busy. I followed up and a kind lady by the name of Sarah said to him that she would consult with the adoption office. He hasn't heard back from them. He is also over 65 and I feel he is being discriminated against, because of his age. Why should he chase somebody to confirm a a pre-adoption application and to speak with somebody? He is a perfect candidate. We have been trying to contact them through Instagram. They can post saying they have animals for adoptions, but can't answer when (an older) prospective, adoptive parents makes enquiries? I recently adopted 2 wonderful cats from the kitty connection, and I couldn't be happier!!!! Honestly, as a graduate student, and the way the economy is right now, I was worried about an extra mouth to feed and more work around the house... But, it's so much easier than I thought! My cats are always so happy when they hear me come home after a long work shift, and it's so great to be greeted by mywarm, friendly companions! Marie (the woman I adopted them from) is great!!! She is so passionate about finding her kitties a good home :) And she was so determined to find me a cat that would fit my demanding schedule. She is so good at her job (along with the other women she works with) that I decided to get two : ) I chose one cat (Honey) who was having a hard time in the shelter (she was really timid, shy, and scared. When I met her I questioned if she would be happy with me. Upon her first visit to my home, she hid under my bed. Uh oh, I was scared she wasn't going to adjust... Less than 24 hours later, she became curious, playful, and so sweet! SHe just needed a warm home, away from the shelter...Now, 2 weeks later, she won't leave my side!!! Tuna is the second cat I chose. He is overweight, and was actually on the Euthansia list!!!!! :( So, I really feel like I saved him! He is the sweetest boy ever!!!! He loves to cuddle and loves attention so much. He was declawed, and didn't like being around so many cats in the shelter with claws, so he is much happier now, and I think he is already losing some weight, now that he is not so stressed ;) Only 2 weeks later, I can hardly believe these two companions weren't always part of my household! I know times are tough right now, and money is tight, but if anyone is considering doing a little (very little, and easy) charity, I urge you to consider the kitty connection! There are all kinds of cats, kittens, and the shelters are just getting over filled with people leaving their pets there. It's sad.... The love of my life came from this shelter. I adopted my cat Sasha at 6 months old back in May of 2010. She was tiny, fixed and loveable. I am glad I did so because she was healthy and I have never had a problem with her to this day (knock on wood). She only goes to the vet once a year for her yearly appointment. I think Kitty Connection took very good care of her until I adopted her. The adoption fee was reasonable, I think I paid $135 for her, which is priceless to me because I can't put a dollar sign on my happiness with her! I also did some volunteer work for them during the Christmas season of 2010. I posed a Santa Claus one Saturday in December at Petsmart in Everett to help them out. It was a great idea on Kitty Connections behalf to host your pet taking a picture with Santa Claus! They money they raised went to the shelter. Before I began volunteering for Kitty Connection, I knew NOTHING about cats!! I had no idea about TNR programs or low cost spay/neuter programs. I was just a woman who found a beautiful 3 week old kitten in a fork lift at her Daddy's work. 4 years later and all thanks to Marie (KC'S President) I am now able to foster helpless, homeless, hopeless little babies and help turn them into happy, healthy, safe little guys. I would never of had my own loves of it weren't for the knowledge and help that Marie has given me. I know that not everyone can always be 100% satisfied, but I can personally say that working with KC has not only opened my eyes to a whole new world, but it has helped me grow and become a better woman, which can be said as being completely satisfied. I definitely want to start by saying that the foster we were communicating with was amazing -- she was super responsive, helpful, and answered all the questions we had. But here's why I'm leaving a negative review (which I've never done). A woman, who didn't introduce herself but I'm assuming is in charge, told my boyfriend and I: "if you're not looking to buy, could you leave?" Yes, she said *buy*. When I tell you that I was shocked at not only how rude that was but that she said "buy"... understatement. Once she saw the look on my face, she tried to back track and claim it was because it was so crammed and hot in the room (which is not our fault...don't host events in such a small space, make it by appt only, or limit entry etc) but it was a huge turn off. It made us feel like they treat these cats as transactional and just want to adopt them out as fast as possible. Very gross and sketchy...Is this a pet shop or a rescue?! Either way we were not there more than an hour total, so it was odd to feel like we needed to rush. If you're still reading here's some background: the foster let us know the cat we wanted to meet had a few inquiries and that she might be adopted before our scheduled appt at her house later in the week so, because of that, we went to an event they were hosting. The event was in a crammed basement of the house Kitty Connection seems to be based out of. The cat, while not visibly afraid or aggressive, was not interested in engaging at the moment (not surprising considering how many people and cats were around). She just wanted to lay in the cage. Because of that it was taking us longer to see if we had a connection and if we were the right fit for one another. Besides a dirty floor/stairs, there weren't even spaces to sit on to see if she'd come up to us. After a while, we wanted to wait it out and see if the space would clear out a bit and the cat would feel comfortable enough to leave the cage on her own terms. But that didn't happen, and after that rude comment asking us to leave, we were outta there. We're certain we want to rescue a cat but are taking this process both seriously and patiently -- this is long commitment and we want to be sure it's right for us and our future cat. However, they didn't seem interested in letting us take our time to get to know her and seemingly just wanted to "sell" her off quickly. So in short: this isn't the rescue for us, sadly. read more

I had a great first time buying experience! During our first visit we found our baby. He is a playful, gentle, overall healthy cat with a sweet affectionate personality. Kitty connection picked up my cat for routine surgery - she was going to be spayed - And she never came home! She passed away due to unexplained complications that may have involved a procedure being performed on her that was intended for another patient. I didn't want to make a federal case out of it so I asked for another kitten but it's been over six months now and I'm still waiting for a replacement kitty...I'm still very upset over the death of my beloved cat Sammie!!! Rotten service, incompetent staff and terrible communication. No response after several attempts to contact them and when they HAVE communicated they've either tried to give me an adult cat or told me I would have to pay for the shots for a new kitten! I was overwhelmed when 2 of my indoor girl cats had kittens, following the unanticipated break-in to my garage, staged by 2 sly feral males (Scooby & Dooby, now part of the family). I went from 3 cats to 23. It prompted me to join Yelp, creating a shout out for help when the kittens were only days old. I called every shelter I could get a number for on the list of Mass -Approved shelters. I placed Craigslist ads which were invariably flagged for reasons I never understood. Out of over 10 calls, Marie from Kitty Connection called me back the same day, explained that Craigslist was not a good idea and prized to help me find homes for all 18. She was as good as her word and I started sleeping again for the first time in weeks. Elizabeth, the Kitten Coordinator, came to my home, gave the babies vaccinations, came up with a vitamin naming scheme, and helped coordinate adoption events (with Marie), volunteer care and more. I felt self-conscious about my situation. I am truly an animal lover, but have had some economic set backs that delayed spaying. I could barely afford to feed and scoop for the cat armada and had no car to get around....The folks at Kitty Connection made me feel welcome, not judged in any way, and were truly the light in this girl's recent storm. I thank them, recommend them & will reciprocate their kindness with some volunteer action as I extricate myself from a period of health disability, now thankfully resolving. I can't give a higher recommendation than this. If anyone is facing a kitten dilemma, this would be a great place to start. I loved my kitty babies and feel reassured that they were placed in homes already spayed/neutered (or with an arrangement in place). Obviously it goes without saying that people who volunteer are to be praised. Their hearts and their actions speak millions. That being said, I've been dealing with these people for over a week now and somehow they've managed to get everything mixed up. My emails are answered by several different people, none of them seem to be able to read the prior answered mails to keep abreast of where the conversation lies. Now be it due to this being a volunteer situation or simply to what I will call" too many hands in the pot" it is completely unorganized! After lengthy emails discussing rehoming my cat, I was sent an email from kitty connection accusing me of listing one of THEIR cats on line for rehoming. Again I will remind you all It is MY cat being discussed, the cat I own, feed, care for and have since he was 6 weeks old, who is now 2 yrs old. The volunteer who emailed me this" claims" she had been forwarded my previous mails... I can assure you, she couldn't have, but rather ASSUMED something shady was going on. and sent me a very rude email accusing me of nonsense. It's great to have volunteers in the world, but a little organization and communication would also go a long way. Kitty connection has dragged me along for over a week going back and forth on If they cam or cannot take this cat, they've caused anxiety and frustration, also caused me to remove my craigslist ad to find him a new home in the promise they were going to find him a new loving acceptable home. I would say here if you find an animal in need in the streets perhaps you should call these ppl. However if you want to rehome your pet (for whatever personal reason you've made this hard decision) look elsewhere for suitable new owners. Kitty connection simply is not organized enough at this point to make such a thing a smooth transition for you or your pet. Sorry this had to be said. read more

The house is gross. However the woman who runs Kitty Connection is super-dedicated to saving cats lives. I adopted Elton from KC one and a half years ago. Before then I had never owned a cat. I didn't even think I liked cats. He is just so lovely, and now I can't imagine my life without Elton. Thank you Kitty Connection for giving Elton the chance to choose me. read more

Love how my last review was deleted. Kitty Connection is a disgrace and knowingly lets people adopt sick kittens and cats. After you spend a small fortune trying to save the kitten you adopted it dies anyway. Then, after contacting the "organization" all they say is "oh that's too bad." Months later they sent me an envelope for a possible donation from me. The nerve!!! At least take me off your mailing list!!! Insensitive people! And by the way, I am by no means the first person to have this happen to. After speaking to others that have had similar situations, I'm surprised these people still have the nerve to carry on. If you're looking to adopt do your research and find a real rescue/shelter that actually wants to help animals instead of hoarding them into a tiny space and profiting off of them. I recently got a kitten through kitty connection. I am so head over heels in love wtih him, but the process to get him was a little sketchy to me. Some of the people I talked to were not exactly professional, and I felt as though they were desperately trying to get rid of him. When I asked if they could hold him for a few days longer in order for me to pick him up, they seemed annoyed and explained a few reasons why they dont hold kittens. I understood their reasons, but they were a bit exaggerated. When I went to pick him up I was not prepared for the HOUR long talk id be given about the kitten parasite that he was recovering from. He is healthy and happy now, which is ultimately the most important thing. The whole process just seemed to sketch me out a little. I believe it has good intentions, but wouldnt recoomend it. read more

We adopted our cat 3 years ago from Kitty Connection. We only had space for a single cat in our apartment at the time and really wanted to adopt a kitten or young cat. Kitty Connection was the only organization even willing to talk to us about adopting a single kitten. After adopting her she did come down with a respiratory virus but I guess this is not uncommon for shelter kittens. She recovered quickly and has been one of the most spoiled cats in the greater Boston area ever since. We can't thank Kitty Connection enough for introducing us to and allowing us to adopt such a wonderful addition to our family. read more

I just adopted my fur baby a little over a week ago. When I arrived to pick her up is when I was informed that she had an upper respiratory infection & they handed me the meds to go with her. I was a bit surprised I was not informed before, and was more surprised that they would send you home with a sick kitty. She was sneezing sporadically when I get her home, but I gave the meds as directed. She got worse. I sat at the emergency vet Friday night, but because they had an emergency there, my kitty was only seen briefly. I have an appointment with my regular vet tomorrow. My fur baby seems worse today. These people were well aware that I had to put a fur baby down just a little over a year ago & adopting again was a big deal for me - and now I'm a worried wreck over this new fur baby. I would NEVER recommend this place & although I would never adopt from them again, I am glad I rescued my fur baby out of there. I love her & I will make sure she gets the appropriate care she needs. read more

I'm not really sure where to begin with this review. I guess the easiest way for me to get across my experience here is to write up a list of pros and cons. I'll start off with the pros... Pros: The people at kitty connection seem to be extremely passionate about what they do. They have so much love for these cats and seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they find homes. They were really nice upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the facility ( it's in the basement of a house) and they introduced us to almost all of the cats. They were very informative and helpful when it came to the cats' history and personalities. Sue seems to be a really great lady who is willing to do whatever it takes for the cats. Marie was really sweet and offered her services to us if we had questions. Cons- Well first off, my biggest concern would have to be the hypodermic needle that was sitting on one of the cat trees. I was petting one of the cats that was laying in the cat tree and I noticed that there was a needle just laying on one of the platforms. I know mistakes happen but that kind of threw me off... The bald guy is really intense... Maybe alittle too intense. I mean the man really loves cats but there were some seriously weird vibes radiating off of him. There was a real mix of cats but some of them didn't look so healthy. The younger ones looked a bit healthier than the older ones. The basement smelled like cat urine but I guess that is to be expected with a shelter that has a decent turn over of cats. Idk... So, I mean, I left that place feeling confused, like I was walking out of an episode of the twilight zone. I almost felt relieved walking out of there. I did not adopt a cat from them. I hate to say it but I probably wouldn't go back. I feel alittle bad writing this review but it's just about what I experienced. Check them out for yourselves! I have to be honest. I think the bald guy's personality was more of a turn off than the hypodermic needle. read more

This place should be shut down. Here are my concerns: 1. The facility is cramped and dirty. It is in someone's cellar, and reeks of cat urine. 2. The cats I saw in this shelter were sick with eye infections, had dirty matted fur, and, being in a basement, rarely saw sunlight. 3. I notice most of the positive reviews are from volunteers. (Scroll down to read particularly pertinent information of these volunteers lashing out for negative criticism) Overall, I did not feel safe coming here, since I had to walk into the cramped, creepy basement of someone's home. The experience was worse by seeing all these cramped, sickly animals. If you scroll past the volunteers' glowing reviews on yelp, you'll see reviews similar to mine. read more

KITTY CONNECTION IN MEDFORD IS THE WORST PLACE TO BUY A CAT.... I purchase a kitten and the woman marie did not disclose that the cat has urinary problems. the cat urinated all over my couches and carpets and was not trained. I loved the cat and really tried to keep her. I called marie to tell her i was returning her, abd the next day left her a message. I brought the cat to her home and it was in a cat carrier. she was in her yard. marie called me a few hours later to tell me that the cat was mangled and killed by some animal in her yard and explained how she watched her take her last breath. I was so upset and very distraught that whole week and couldnt sleep. well the kitty connection was having an open house for the public to view the cats. I was in shock to see my cat there ALIVE AND WELL...SHE LIED TO ME TO MAKE ME FEEL BAD FOR RETURNING THE CAT TO HER. ANYONE WHO CAN LIE ABOUT A CAT BEING KILLED AND MANGLED AND WATCHING THEM TAKE THEIR LAST BREATH IS A DERANGED ANDF SICK PERSON TYO SAY THE LEAST. VERY SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES....I WOULD CLEARLY STAY AWAY AND SHE ALSO OPERATED OUT OF PETCO , SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FIND OUT BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. YOU WILL REGRET IT, IF ANYTHING GO WRONG. SHE WILL BE VERY NICE TO YOU, ONLY IF THE TRANSACTION GOES WELL, BUT GOD FORBID ANYTHING GOES WRONG, SHE WILL TURN ON YOU. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! THANK YOU! read more
