    Sleepy cone-head puppy

Unfortunately my American Eskimo puppy Ollie broke his leg and we were referred here for treatment by our regular vet. Because of COVID-19 I haven't been inside so I can't tell you much about the facility, but I can let you know about the care and attention that we have received. What we really liked about our experiences-- We generally go in on Tuesday afternoons and have seen the same nurse three times. She is amazing and my dog is obsessed with her. I really wish that I could remember her name but she's very good with him and makes a bad situation a lot better. We also really liked his veterinarian Dr. Cleveland. As someone who has never dealt with a dog with a broken leg and had no idea what the healing process would look like, he took plenty of time to explain our options and the outcomes of our choices. Especially because we can't go in with our puppy, I really appreciate him being so thorough and patient. Checking out has been very easy and prices are not totally outrageous. What we haven't loved Dealing with some of the staff at the front desk. For starters, when I called to make his first appointment the lady on the phone really didn't seem to be listening to me. She put in my puppy's name incorrectly, among other things. Additionally, we had an issue with one of the casts (which happens and is totally understandable with a tiny puppy who is very high energy) and brought him in to his regular vet, because he was crying, who told us that she thought the cast looked like it may have slipped. We got the cast done on Tuesday and called Blue Pearl on Wednesday to try to get it looked at after seeing his regular vet. The first time we called the lady on the phone was awesome and told us to come in when we could and call before we were on our way. A couple of hours later we called again and spoke to another person at the desk, she recommended that we didn't come in right away and that we just send some pictures which I thought was strange seeing how our regular vet recommended that we go in. I really wish that she had taken our concerns with the cast more seriously and we truly would have paid to get the bandage changed if it would make our puppy more comfortable and give us some peace of mind. Well today his cast totally came off and we had to go in to get a totally new bandage. We spoke with Nancy (I believe) and she was very sweet and helpful, and I wish that everyone on the phone was like her. They put in a new bandage for no charge which was really appreciated. Overall I can't imagine working the phones at a 24/7 emergency pet hospital is an easy job and I understand that it's probably very stressful, but some of the interactions I've had just made me feel like I wasn't being listened to at all. Okay sorry for writing a novel, but I think it's important to hear from other pet parents who have had to deal with this kind of stuff. TL;DR Really great medical staff, is pricey but I didn't feel like I was being pushed to do any expensive treatments, and some of the front desk staff are great and others are not so great.

We came to BluePearl after my small dog's nail was damaged and bleeding. Because of the pandemic, we called when we arrived in the parking lot and were quickly met by someone who looked at their injuries. They were transparent about wait time due to critical cases, which we completely understood. After an hour, my pup was taken in, cleaned up, and bandaged, and the vet called with an explanation of the situation and care. About 30 minutes later my dog was brought out with medication, our bill, and a cone. Very safe, kind, and quick for our specific dog's issue. I'd recommend this location.

My poor senior pup Bea started acting odd which then progressed to multiple seizures over a very short period of time. I have taken another dog there for a surgery consult and was impressed by the communication and responsiveness, so when it became clear that in this scary time of COVID that my dog needed to be seen immediately they were my first and only call. Well, to be fair it was my partner's call as I was a blubbering mess incapable of doing anything other than sobbing over my now weak and confused pup. We called and they told us to immediately come over, and to call when we were close. We described what had happened, what car we were driving and pulled around the corner. We were almost immediately met by a tech who took my beloved dog inside while we waited, not so patiently, but still very teary. After about an hour they called to give us a thorough rundown of how they would handle and treat her. Payment over the phone was quick and easy and we left her in what were clearly capable hands for monitoring while we went home for some more sobbing and a bunch of booze. They kept in touch throughout, being patient with my crying drunk ass and making sure I knew what her status was. She was able to come home the next day a little sleepy but otherwise not much worse for wear. It was pricey, of course it was going to be pricey when you make an emergency visit to a literal 24/7/365 facility, and if a few of my dollars go towards giving other people some 4am on Christmas peace of mind I'm okay with that. And no offense to the wonderful folks at Blue Pearl, but I'm hopeful that I either never have need of their services again, or it is a long time until I need to use them again, but for all the right reasons.

My little girl was cared for by Dr Cleveland, who has to be one of the most attentive surgeons, we had three major operations performed at once and my little girl was a champ. They cut out all the Cancer and saved her life, if only for a bit longer, isn't that all we want... just to be with out pets for a bit longer, we will move heaven and earth. Over the weekend the doctor was available and we sent follow up photos that he would evaluate. quite professional. I highly recommend Dr Cleveland at Blue Pearl Charlestown. thank you for adding on to my girls life and mine.

We want to "Thank "the entire staff for all the love & compassion that they showed for our cat Coco. Unfortunately, Coco passed away today. As a pet owner it's so sad when you have to make an end of life decision. Dr Cavitt is an incredible Veterinarian and we highly recommend her and Blue Pearl Pet Hospital Ken & Barb Powers

Dr. Estes explained everything clearly--what was happening, the prognosis, and what we should do next. The techs / nurses--Kim Nguyen, Kendra Baker, and Jennifer Ducharme--were also wonderful: professional, patient, and very caring. They were attentive throughout the entire process while our Pomeranian was undergoing sedation, and you could tell they genuinely cared. I'm sure they see situations like this every day, but they still treated our dog with the attention and care he needed. Small things like that matter. These are clearly very capable people who could work in many different fields--including human medicine--but they choose to care for pets, and it shows. I would absolutely recommend this clinic and would return again if needed. My one tip: call ahead so they can prepare for your arrival.

I unfortunately had to do a little tour of veterinary clinics the past few days, as my sweet cat Babs had a bit of a medical mystery that is now *hopefully* resolved. I'll spare the details, but I ended up at PetMedic this week in the late afternoon. First, amazingly, they have 3 reserved parking spots behind the building which were all available when I arrived. There is also ample metered parking available in the neighborhood. I had called ahead, and so the receptionist greeted us by name (well, the cat's name!) and immediately took him back to see the doctor (it was an emergency situation). They brought me into an exam room to wait, and as I was having a minor meltdown, offered me a hug, brought me tissues, and offered water, tea, "whatever I needed"-- which was very sweet. The doctor (Dr. McCoy) popped in quickly, introduced herself, and double checked that it was ok to give Babs a sedative and some oxygen which was needed immediately before doing additional diagnostics. I agreed, she left, and shortly thereafter a tech came in to get some background. I had a small wait, and then got a text with a proposed plan and high and low cost estimate. As soon as the text came through Dr. McCoy came back in and walked me through it all, why it was necessary, and talked through the cost. Was it cheap? No, it was emergency vet services. (If you don't have pet insurance you are honestly either a billionaire or insane. We get 90% reimbursed!) But I think given allll the stuff they had to do, it felt pretty reasonable. I got clear discharge instructions and so much compassion from everyone I spoke with. It turned out their dx was likely not correct, but they treated his symptoms appropriately and my vet a few days later said that their dx did make sense given what he was presenting at the time. Since we had a very negative experience at Blue Pearl Charlestown last year (the closest one to our house), we are THRILLED that there is such a caring and efficient urgent care facility within a short drive and with parking. Though, respectfully, I hope I never have to see them again

She was throwing up, gasping for air, losing control of her bowels, and her eyes appeared slightly bulged. I was terrified and had no idea what to do. I arrived around 2:00 a.m., and the staff greeted me right away and quickly began triaging my cat, Gia. Unfortunately, Gia was extremely ill, and her chances of survival were very slim. I ultimately made the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully. I want to give a huge acknowledgment to the Veg ER team for their compassion during one of the hardest moments of my life. My dog has been a Bond Vet patient for years. Last week, he was treated for an issue that did not resolve with the prescribed antibiotics. I called the Somerville office last night to explain my concerns about his ongoing symptoms and was instructed that I should bring him in right away this morning for an emergency appointment. When I arrived, there were 0 other patients in the office - all exam rooms were empty, as was the waiting room. I asked the receptionist, Hannah, how long I should expect to wait and she informed me that Dr. Rahel Lungo was in the back doing paper work and would not be able to see my pet. I explained that I had specifically taken time off from work to bring my pet in, per the office's insturctions, and expressed my confusion that a veterinarian could not take a few minutes to evaluate a sick patient already sitting in the clinic. Despite this, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and was directed to drive to another Bond Vet location 30 minutes away. I found the entire interaction unacceptable. This was one of the least patient-centric healthcare experiences I have ever encountered. The issue was not capacity constraints or an overwhelmed office - the clinic was visibly empty. The issue was a complete lack of accountability, urgency, and basic compasion from Dr. Rahel Lungo. It is deeply concerning to me that a veterinary organization that positions itself as modern and customer-focused would treat a long-standing patient in this manner. As a result of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my pet to Bond Vet. To Bond Vet - I encourage you to assess if this a problem isolated to Dr. Rahel Lungo or if this is a broader reflection of Bond Vet's position on patient care.
