We have been coming here for years, we started with our two oldest pups Luna and Leo and since then, added to the crew, Jax and Axel. We loved Kitty hawk Animal hospital for many reasons. The passion and love from the DOCTORS , the TECH staff loving our fur babies like their own and although 4 pups can add up we never felt haggled for money! I write this post with such a low rating because things have changed! The lobby staff has no desire in their work. They don't feel like a team. They answer the phone with attitude and eagerness to get us off the phone. When we come into the clinic you have to address them first and hope to be helped with positive attitude. When asked who's in for treatment the confusion and unwillingness to understand each dogs needs. We would even let them know not only over the phone but also when we would check them in. These all may seem like little things but our babies are rescues and have many traumas. We do our best to accommodate them so they feel safe and comfort. So coming to a place they already feel uneasy about it's unfortunate we have to deal with an uninviting staff. read more

This place is comparable to healthcare for humans anymore. They are all about profit and could care less about your pets. Their answer to everything was overcharge and under care. Their $40 deposit requirement to make an appointment is BS. More often than not, you have to wait for them to see you 10+ minutes past your appointment time which is funny considering this is when they will keep the deposit and cancel the appointment if the client is the one running late. If you decide to go to Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital, always remember that their time is more important. They charged me for a minor follow-up appointment either I forgot I made or that they decided to make for me (likely the latter since I did not receive a written or verbal confirmation for this appointment nor did they send a reminder or confirmation text/email prior to the appointment which I had always gotten for ones I made previously.) The only notice I got was them calling me a few minutes after the appointment time telling me they would charge me if I showed up or no-showed. I raised these points to them the next business day but they decided to show me a lesson by keeping the deposit. Good for them. My pet loves to go there because when he sees his technicians he's happy I highly recommend this veterinarian the only negative I would say would be they charge you for an appointment so you can get there which I understand, but when you get there on time, and several minutes early and they don't see you till 20 minutes after or 30 minutes after your appointment time which means you're there for practically an hour for an appointment that lasted 10 minutes read more

KHAC is my favorite vet. I've been taking my cats there for a couple of years now and have been so impressed by the customer service they provide. The office staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The docs all are personable and kind. The vet techs are excited to meet your pet and care for them. I asked could they please waive the $40 dollars for the fee to cremate my cat because of the fact that I was there a few days ago and didn't even get the rest of the labs I paid for completed because my pet didn't make it. My 4 lgs was seen by Dr. Kline 3 days ago for vomiting n diarrhea, whom I have trusted n respected for the last 5 yrs or so... but that feeling has evaporated suddenly by his actions today due to the unprofessionalism that he has displayed... I returned dry dog food n med that was prescribed by dr cause, Sofi my dog did not want eat nor wanted to smell. I was told to bring it in switch to "wet food" so w/that I complied...upon my arrival another young lady told me that I couldn't returned med because " you left the building with it n our policy does not allow us to take it back" I never opened the med from original package nor alter by any means... when I question her how come this policy was not properly bring to my attention she said " that is our policy" when I suggested that they should state their policy on customers receipts n they ought to have sign stating that... I requested to speak w/manager whom I was told that he was on vacation.. but she would get dr to see if anything he can do to resolve this matter.. few minutes later dr Kline comes out n started asking me what the hell was going on n verbally attacked n displayed his frustrations toward me... back n forth after exchanging talks at one point he raised his fingers on my chest n said "give his damn money get this SOB out of here... say the least I was stunned n humiliated by his remarks n felt be little'd by his fellow workers n other customers near by... this dr actions raises lots of serious questions as far as his professionalism, customer service, his code of ethics... in short, he showed his true colors on full mast...n I for one would never want to do business w/this folks...so much for trust n respect... read more

Its my first time to go here,we got new puppy and due for his shots.I called last Thursday and asked how much it will cost for the shots and told that they also have a package and they can show it to me when i get there,so i booked an appointment.we went there monday morning our appointment is at 1010 am.The hospital is very clean there is also a pet store inside it.All the staff is nice and very friendly.Once we got inside the room the staff explained to me their package and what is included in it.All in all its very nice and i will bring my puppy back after 3 weeks for his next shots. read more

I would not recommend Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital. As first time pet owners, we were looking for education and guidance in caring for our dog. Our boxer was not acting like himself, so we took him. We understood the initial exam fee, but once we got in the exam room we were scared into expensive tests to make sure our dog was okay. After paying $189 for an X-ray and the exam fee of $58, we ran out of money. We've had a few emergencies come up the past couple weeks. I literally left in tears because we left with no answers. And they wanted more tests run; blood work, etc. The next day our dog was his fun, playful self. It had nothing to do with anything this clinic did. Nothing the clinic did, directly made our dog feel better. The best way I can explain our experience is this. You know when you go to the dealer to get your oil changed and the service writer comes over saying you need all these things done or your car probably won't make it. Well that's how this clinic did us. I feel like they looked at us, saw our panic and knew that we would pay anything to help our dog feel better. I called the clinic expressing my concerns. But in the end, how I feel about the experience doesn't matter. I won't be given a refund. Which gives me the conclusion, they do care about the money. I understand that it's hard to understand and know how a dog is feeling. Totally get that. And I haven't been to vet school, obviously. But I have four kids and can take care of them just fine. I wish they would have told us, give him a few days and if he doesn't improve, we can do further tests to investigate. That to me would have been so much better than scaring new owners into a bunch of unnecessary, expensive tests; right before Christmas. I was hoping the reviews on here were wrong. But I have to agree with them. It's sad. Everyone wants the best care for their animal. And they shouldn't be mislead into tests and fees for money. Care more about your patients. Took our new pup there and got signed up for an affordable puppy plan up to 6 months for all shots! The staff is always super friendly and answers questions without making you feel dumb. They explain all of the procedures and don't try to sell you "add ons" and push you to say yes. I had previously given Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital a not so great review. I'm updating it for the following reasons. My regular vet does not do international health certificates for flying pets internationally. KHAH does. They cost $85 or was it $89 per pet. Anyway, they did my certificates for a dog and cat 6 days ago. They insisted the rule was 10 days. This is true for IATA (International Air Travel Association) rules, but the specific airline I was traveling on insisted on 5 days. So there I was at the airport, with the airline telling me no, sorry... the pets cannot fly. I spent $ for 2 pets on certificates, 2 pet in belly fees, 2 expensive sky kennels (IATA approved). I was losing it. The airline said if you call the vet and they can change the date and email the forms back... we can accept it. So I called the KHAH to ask. Of course they said no, they didn't want to forge the forms date... which is understandable... but still. I was losing it. I realized that I still had some time since it was an international flight (we showed up early). I asked the airline if I zoom back to the vet and get new certificates will it be fine? They said yes. So speaking with a vet tech/receptionist from KHAH, they said we can take you at 1:50pm. Airline said the gates close at 2pm, sorry. I begged KHAH.... PLEASE... can't you squeeze me in now? They placed me on a brief hold and said ok come in now. I got back as safely and quickly as I could... I got in line... things moved at the pace of a snail initially... but then it was my turn, I said please, I'm trying to get back asap. It was around 1:15pm. They took em back, quickly examined the pets again, I paid another exam fee, but just one, they did not charge me for certificates twice. And I was out the door in no time. They. Saved. Me. I got back to the airport with only a few minutes to spare. It is now 7:48pm. The pets have arrived safely at their destination in Mexico. What a whirlwind. Yes, I had a bad experience before, but this has put them in a new light, and they definitely deserve lots of credit and my gratitude. I am totally impressed and again, very grateful for their help. This place is a total scam. I was not going to be so harsh but after reading all of the other reviews first where they either kept the $40.00 deposit or overcharged and the worst is they didn't let the owner be with their pet when it was dying and that is not only despicable but shows a complete lack of compassion as in what happened with my cat. They also kept my $40.00 deposit! My cat was seen by the vet but they did nothing. I brought my poor MaddieCats there to get X-Rays and bloodwork as she was due for this because she has asthma and arthritis. I have never had my cat turned away because she is a bit fiesty! If I was a no show I understand them keeping the deposit but they barely saw my cat. They sent her on her way and although I called asking for some kindness they once again scammed someone out of $40.00. I was four minutes and 32 seconds later than their 15 min late policy. They wouldn't show any compassion at all about my cat not getting her services and took all of my $128.00 vs the $68 minus $40 for my visit. I should have only paid a balance of $28 but ended out $128.00. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a veterinarian. Don't risk taking your pet to a place that is all about money and doesn't care about health. read more

I used this vet clinic recently based on a recommendation from a friend who used them for all her cats and that fact that they were convenient. I had a sick cat. I found the folks there to be very nice and I had a great experience that first visit, but agree with another poster that they are a bit expensive. What they charge for a feline tooth cleaning is far above anything I've seen and was even higher than what a friend in high-cost Denver pays to her vet! Unfortunately I have to apply my Three Strikes rule for customer service and they failed all in the same week... First visit we did a lab work up... was told the results would be in the next afternoon and that the vet would call me. I was extremely anxious to know what was wrong with my cat, but waited patiently all day and never got that call... I finally called them after 5pm on my way home from work and was told that the vet had gone home early. I spoke with another vet there who was very nice and did his best to interpret the results, but did not have the benefit of having examined my animal. First strike. The vet we saw on our first visit did call me the next day... and despite having my cat's results in front of him with her very feminine name, he called her a "him" several times during our conversation about what course of treatment we should try. Really? Big second strike. During this conversation, we agreed upon a course of treatment. I was told that a tech would work up a quote and get with me the next day so we could move forward on trying the determine the cause of my cat's issue. They have both my mobile and my work numbers. I have NEVER heard back from them... to this day. Third and final strike. I ended up having to put my cat to sleep the weekend after all this happened, so their incompetence and poor follow through likely saved me money... but I will never know if the work we would have done would have helped. I sure do hope I don't get any birthday messages from them... My cat is gone, but we do have dogs who will never pass over their threshold. I wouldn't trust them at this point. I don't know if I caught them on a bad week, or if their follow through is always spotty... For what they charge, I think they need to step it up and return calls when promised and for goodness sake, know the sex of their patient when talking to an owner. read more

If you care about your pets don't board them here. My 16 year old cat stayed from Friday until Monday. I picked him up and they had never cleaned his "condo". I supplied them with his can food which they never gave him. He was suppose to receive 2 insulin shots per day for his diabetes. That didn't happen either because he hissed at them. This is the usual Vet I take her to every one is extremely nice and you can actually tell that there are here for your lovely pets and not just for the money. Our two Dogs really like comming here as soon as we drive up they know exactly where the front door is,that means a lot.. This Vet clinic haar been here for a couple year I don't know for shure how long but it is early new. We were clients 10 years ago and PCS'd in Jan 03. Since coming back we moved to Schertz and tried both the Schertz Animal Hospital and Westridge Pet Hospital but felt both "up-sold" unnecessary tests and both seem to have unrealistic recommendations for our 11 & 15-year old dogs. Dr. Hooper has always been fair and she saved our 11 year old (Allie) when she needed her spleen removed. We are happy we returned to Kitty Hawk and highly recommend it! A couple years ago my dog was severely ill.I took him to Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital , being it was only a couple of miles from home. I asked how we could make arrangements on my bill. I was going to have money direct deposited the next day and wondered if I could leave them a check dated a day later. The office manager told me no After spending 45 minutes to an hour, nothing resolved, not even having my dog looked at, I then asked if I could use their phone so I could get a ride to my vet office I use, they were hesitant and really didn't want me to tie up their office phone. Now to inform you on the ergency of the situation, my dog was passing blood clots, lethargic,almost unconscious an dehydrated. He played almost lifeless thru our little discussion at the office. I feel that hospital is money hungry, they did'my care about my dog, or they would have taken him back for emergency treatment as soon as we walked in the door. I did find out later, that office manager does not work there anymore. I made it to my vet. Acres North Animal Hospital 281/Thousand Oaks. Been going there over 30 years. I was told I had a slim chance for his survival. He was almost dead when we walked thru the door. They immediately started him on fluids, etc. He had a condition called HGE. Hemmorgenic Gastro Enteritis. I'm glad Kitty Hawked turned me away for the fact I could'by pay at time of visit. Thank You for your service! They should be telling me that. Look how empty the place is. Nobody in my neighborhood goes there, they all travel the extra miles. I am glad to see someone else has similar problems. Sorry for your loss. I agonized over declawing my kitten because I've never been a proponent of declawing but she was so overactive and destructive, I felt it was the only way to keep her in my home. I did research on the laser declawing and felt that was the best option, less pain and bleeding plus she would retain the entire pad (the standard method removes part of the pads on the paws). The office staff answered all of my questions before, during and after the procedure. Dr. Griffin was very thorough and called to check on my kitten several times. I was very pleased with them. She is doing great and learning that she can't claw everything as she once did. I plan on using this clinic in the future, I liked the people and the care given to my kitten. read more
