Today our dog Amelia was brought in for daycare at the Schertz location. Upon my husband picking her up we where informed they where training new people and my dog was NOT fed her food. When my husband came home with Amelia I was told this. I then called and was told ¨Oh yeah she had a couple treats and because YOU bring food that needs to be kept cool we forgot to feed her¨ For three years we have fed her Fresh Pet when we bring her to day care. This totally throws off her feeding for the day. She cannot eat after 7:00pm for she takes Oral Vet for dental and cannot eat after taking this. I was also told ¨well our Mang. knows this¨ Next day care day I told them she is going for free since YOU did NOT provide her basic needs. read more

My dog (5 years old, 50 lbs.) was happy, relaxed, and very tired when I picked her up - a day early and one minute from closing, with no annoyance from the staff. What else matters, really? The dogs was there for two full days, and did not smell like a kennel afterwards. We used the basic lowest interaction package because she's never boarded before. Communication could have been a bit smoother for making arrangements, but once my girl was onsite they returned mycalls immediately. read more

My furs kiddos Moose & Macy had to be boarded at Pawderosa Ranch in Schertz Tx! I myself was very impressed with the outside and inside building very clean & the reception office very organized and loving in welcoming our furs kids!! And the staff seem pretty nice with pets!! I was extremely disappointed in the Schertz facilities. The upgraded suites were nice bust the basic ones were large kennels with zero visual barriers in between them. The kennels were also not adequately spaced to make up for the lack of visual barriers. The room was very loud and the dogs seemed stressed. The was even a dog in a normal sized kennel. The play are was an indoor area with concrete flooring the had doors open outside to a very small outdoor area with what looked like astroturf. They are over priced. I paid $63 for a 2pm drop off and picked up at 9am. It was $28 for the night, $20 for playtime the day I dropped off and $15 for playtime before I picked up. I just looked up Lucy's doggies daycare and the are $40/night go a basic suit and $52/night for a luxury one. Daycare IS included in the price and they have a huge outdoor space. We will drive there nextime. If I had enough time yesterday to drive to Lucy's instead I would've immediately after taking the tour but it was a last minute thing to board my dog. read more

The facilities are nice and the manager/owner seems to know enough about dogs, but the staff are mostly comprised of young girls who don't understand dog behavior. I have a rescue min pin mix who was abused by her previous owners. As a result she is very nervous in new situations and around new people and has separation anxiety. She is friendly towards other dogs but could still use some additional socialization. I brought her to Pawderosa in the hopes of helping her overcome her separation anxiety and meet some new four-legged friends. During her first evaluation she was friendly with the staff and dogs, but was too afraid to leave her kennel and enter the play area. The owner said I needed to bring her back for a second evaluation but assured me that this was not a problem, that they would take things slow and work with her so as to not "set her up for failure." I learned after her next evaluation that once again she was too afraid to leave her kennel; one of the staff members repeatedly tried to force her out and kept putting her hands in my dog's face. My dog growled, bared her teeth, and stayed hunched in the corner, but the staff member persisted. Eventually my dog nipped at her and I was told my dog failed the evaluation and would not be welcome back. Although the owner acknowledges that the staff should not have tried to force her from her kennel (any dog will bite it you force it into a frightening situation), my dog still took the blame for the incident. I'm very upset the owner assured us they would work with my dog (their site has an ebook describing how their program has helped other dogs with anxiety issues) but did the exact opposite and set my dog up to fail. tl;dnr version: if you have a dog with no issues, this place seems fine, but if your dog is shy/anxious, I'd take them elsewhere. The staff are clearly clueless when it comes to reading basic canine body language, and this experience has not helped my dog with her anxiety. read more

After doing my research I knew the first day would be free as they do an Evaluation and give you a tour with a new customer folder that gives you more information! Once I arrived I filled out the paperwork and was waiting for my tour.. sadly I had to ask to take the tour and didn't get my packet. During the tour I noticed they have a well organized system when it comes to feeding, meds, and special needs for your furry friend. The upgraded room for dog boarding are ok and can fit 2 dogs comfortably and regular boarding kennels are your basic wired tall rooms that can fit 2-5 comfortably! They do have a big dog and small dog playing area and will match your dog to the correct playroom! Check out was real smooth and after the new employee asked some questions she finally handed me the new clients folder, until I opened it with no prices of anything there.. so it was very pointless. Although I did love the hand sanitizer it came with! And the MOST important thing for me that made me worried was NO CAMERASSSS!! Augh I was so sad to hear this since it was my first time leaving my puppy at a daycare! (CHANGE THIS PLEASE) Overall it's your pretty basic generic dog boarding with a few extra upgrades you can purchase, for example extra play time or attend special events. read more

I am not one for writing reviews, however, I thought I would share my recent experience with Pawderosa Ranch (Schertz Location). I would consider myself a loyal customer as we have been clients of Pawderosa for close to 4 years now. I was happy to have found a place that I could trust with my boys and that my boys loved. The staff has been awesome with my boys and my boys have always had a blast each time they were there. Please note that this review is in no way a reflection of the staff and the care & services that was provided to my boys. This is geared towards the polices and practices at Pawderosa Ranch. Over the past 4 years with Pawderosa we have endured multiple rate changes. This would include both boarding and daycare rate increases (without prior knowledge). The daycare services is no longer included in the boarding rate, which was one of their initial offerings that attracted us to their location . They also removed the webcams, which for us was one of their greatest assets. Their latest change is that they have switched to "Day/Daily Rate" for boarding. With this change, and how it was explained to me, ALL clients must choose one of their activity packages (which range from $15- $25 per pet/per day) to accompany the boarding accommodations. I was with them with all the changes and rate increases until now. Here is the issue I have with the "Day/Daily Rate". When is Check-out time? Pawderosa must understand that they are essentially a hotel for our dogs. So I asked, when is my "check-out" time? Their response was, "the boys will have to be picked up by 7:00 a.m. in order to waive the fee for that day on days they open at 6:30 a.m.". I responded with, "are there any other options when there are pick-up days when the facility does not open until after this time as in holidays, Saturdays & Sundays"? To this their response was, "they are not able to waive fees on any days they do not open at 6:30 a.m.". Pawderosa expects us to pay the day/daily rate on pick-up day because we have no other choice but to pick-up after 7:00 a.m. due solely because they open later than their established pick-up time. Unacceptable, I can't be the only person that finds a problem with this. Looks like my boys will be falling in love with another location. I will always pay for services rendered..... I will always pay extra for great service rendered..... I refuse to pay a dime for services not rendered!! I travel so much for work and am so thankful to have found the best dog boarding & daycare kennel in the San Antonio area. My precious pup is loving and curious about everything around her and she loves, loves, loves to stay at the Pawderosa Ranch for a visit. The staff is professional, attentive and I NEVER have to worry about her while I'm on the road. The facility is always clean and organized. *** I am most thankful for the Dog Wash service which is convenient and makes my life just that much easier...*** This is a must see, must use daycare for your four legged family member when you need to be away for awhile. My girls & I had a fabulous experience from our first interaction with Pawderosa. I was new to the area and needed to go out of town quickly. I did some research online and found them. From the first phone call, to the same day evaluation they worked my dogs in for, to the tour they gave me when I picked them up from the evaluation...I was very impressed. I booked their 5 night stay and knew they would be in good hands. I picked up two happy, exhausted (from daily play time) dogs following their stay at the Ranch. The staff was very friendly and seemed sad that Karli and Shiloh were leaving, which made me feel good about the time they spent there, knowing they were interacting with the staff often enough to know their names after their friest visit. I also appreciated receiving their daily report card upon check out. In DC where I recently moved from, playtime is as an extra expense, but is included here. I enjoyed the video cameras in the play pen/yard so I could check up on them and see they were OK. I also appreciated that they received a bath the morning I picked them up. My two girls will be going back to Pawderosa for boarding and probably some for day care days here and there. Thanks for a great experience from a doggie mom new to the area. read more

When my husband and I moved to San Antonio we saw billboards for Pawderosa Ranch and I though to check it out. We find the quality care we look for, the customer service we appreciate and the friendliness that invites us in. Since Fall 2017, we've experienced their services for boarding, daycare, grooming and play dates. Boarding: We used Paw for our first out of state visit to family. While I was worried to leave my pet, I was re assured with photos and informative phone conversations. Aside from traveling, we had to admit our newborn to the NICU twice and when we called asking if there was space, there wasn't any hesitation. They really helped us manage, what could have been, a very stressful situation. We were able to tailor her stay with the packages/activities we knew she would like, such as a certain amount of play times and nightly tuck in. I was so happy with the care that we decided to use them for all boarding needs. Day Care: While my husband and I were both working full time, we knew that our beloved missed us and desired interactions of her own kind. We decided to send her to the daycare provided at Paw. The first day, I didn't know what to expect but it was obvious that she loved it. Since then, I don't work full time but if I have a long day of appointments or errands, I'll call and make reservations for her to attend. Even calling a day before, there is usually a space available. Grooming: My dog has short hair and doesn't require extensive grooming. When we first booked boarding we knew we would miss the pick up time, so we added a grooming service, which allowed us to extend the pick up time (which we really valued). When I arrived, I collected my dog and went to the car, then noticed that she appeared to still be dirty, around her legs and on a shoulder. I went back inside and found out that she attempted to break out of the kennel while drying. They apologized and comped the service and offered to groom her again. Although I wasn't satisfied with the service, the fact that they offered to correct their mistakes shows that they care. I know since then (Fall 2017) a new groomer has been hired and sounds as though there are great reviews so my experience may not reflect you own. Play Dates: Every so often both locations will host a party. For an inexpensive fee, I drop my pup off at the scheduled time and pick up usually 4 hours later. I've used this service a couple of times and find it perfect for when I need to run errands and don't want to schedule day care or just want to make sure my dog gains the interactions she needs. They usually provide a photo and a treat to take home, which I think is a nice bonus. Overall, I've been very pleased with the services I gain from Pawderosa Ranch and Doggie Play stay (Schertz location). I'm always greeted with a smile and I can tell that the staff really care for my dog. I'm VERY thankful for the services they provide. I know its hard work making sure customers are happy and while it is impossible to perfect any business, I'd say my experience aren't far from it. read more

Pawderosa was not a good experience for my boxer Rufus!!!:( They let a dog attack my dog on evaluation day, leaving him w scratches on his face. That's not even the "first" day, evaluation day!!!! They don't have enough staff working for them may be one of the problems. Secondly, found out during boarding they leave the dogs alone for 12 1/2 hrs. Sad. If you don't hold your piss for 12+ hrs nor should my or any other dog!!:(I will never take Rufus back & i encourage you not to take your pet there either!!!:( read more

I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and caring the staff is, and in my opinion their prices truly are a steal if you purchase a package! My dog gets excited every time we turn on the street leading to Pawderosa, and she comes back one pooped pup! Pawderosa has "doggie cams" so you can check in on your doggie throughout the day. If you so choose, your dog will be fed mid-day, and for extra she can be bathed before you pick her up. What else makes Pawderosa different then most doggie daycares? - Pawderosa does not kennel the dogs during the day, except for lunch time feeding. All dogs get to run and play with other dogs of similar size in well fenced off yards. read more

Had to find a new groomer because the old one ignored my instructions on how I wanted my little guy's hair cut (I am very picky, but I AM paying). She just kept cutting it like SHE wanted it or thought it should look. Nope! Lance did a perfect job at Pawderosa. He came out front on our first visit to meet us and was so friendly and kind to my dog (and me). I was very pleased with his work Everyone else there is just as nice as they can be , too! Best Dog Boarding in Texas! These are truly trained professionals who care about your dog as much or more than yourself. I love the idea of off-leash play within the dogs own temperament pack. My hyper basenji is completely tired after all day playing. The staff plays fetch with the dogs. During boarding you can bring your dogs bedding and food. You get a report card at the end of your dogs stay if they ate well, were they vocal...etc. I love these guys!!!! read more

Whenever I go out of town I trust these guys to take care of my dogs. They have suites that can accommodate multiple pets and have their own personal video camera so you can spy on your pets 24 hours a day. I have 3 old dogs (a pit mix, a husky, and a shih tzu) that fit nicely into one of the suites, just so you get an idea of the size. During the day the boarded dogs are out in a pen playing and romping around with the other dogs and staff so that they aren't caged all day. As with the suites, there are also video cameras in the play pens (both inside and out) so that you can spy on your dog and their new friends throughout the day. They have both a large and a small dog pen depending on your pet and how they do with the other dogs. The staff are insanely accommodating when it comes to feeding, medicating, bedding, health, and any other concerns. They work closely with the local vet clinics which is a plus because my vet is near by and I know that if anything were to happen that my pet will be in good hands. I have only used this location, but have never been disappointed with the service. read more

There are only a few things good that I can say about this place. The grooming department is well priced and the groomer is nice, the facility seemed clean enough and kennels are reasonably spacious. However, that doesn't make anything else better. I had brought in one of my dogs for daycare and I thought everything was fine and good until I got home and I saw multiple puncture wounds on her neck right under the jaw. I was obviously in shock and once I had taken her to the vet I called them up. The receptionist had to put me on hold because she wasn't watch the cameras that they had up at the front desk and there for didn't know, when she came back she put the person watching the dogs on and she said that there was a fight but that they did check her and she seemed fine. After this was told to me offered for me to take the vet bill up there so I wouldn't have to pay for, I asked how's going to pay for and they said the other owner, but what confuses me is what if the owner doesn't want to pay it and thinks that he shouldn't? His dog had been in fights before but apparently there policy is that unless a dog injures another dog then it can still be let out to play and attack other dogs! Well I was frustrated and was assured that the owner would pay for the 300$ procedure and when I got there the dog attendant was up front and she looked no older than 15, no wonder my baby got hurt if they allow such Young children to work there behind the scenes! It's needless to say that while these things may happen they should certainly be prevented at all costs, and even letting dog aggressive dogs into a facility like that is irresponsible. If you don't want your dog hurt and go through the same hassle I did then you better be smart and stay away. read more

We've taken our Golden Retriever here since he was a 5 pound puppy! He has always been treated extremely well and is excited to go there. The staff is always extremely nice and helpful and most of them run up to him and give him a big hug when he gets there. I do miss the live camera feeds when we have to board him. I'm not sure what happened with the cameras, but it was nice to see him during the nights we left him there. read more

There was an incident on November 23, 2015 where my dog was tragically killed in route to Pawderosa Ranch Daycare in Schertz, TX in a car accident driven by one of their employees during there Wagon wheels transportation. My dog was not secured at all by any crate or seatbelt. There are no safety protocols in place to securely transport your animal safely. So be aware if you let your dog use that service that this can happen. Just inquire and ask questions about this service if it's available. I miss my dog dearly to have her taken away by the hands of someone else. Keep in mind that your dog is considered property and in this instance there was nothing you can do on behalf of your precious pet. read more

I left my dog my 11 days. He is 12 years old and fairly active and very healthy for his age. I asked that they not groom him but please bathe him as he was there for 11 days and he would surely be dirty ( he's a white dog). I picked him up and was advised that he was limping this morning. They said they assumed it was due to him age which I'm certain they would have noticed prior to day 11. They knew he had injured himself. When I picked him up his eyes were very matted and he was filthy and smelly. He stayed 11 days with no bath and no one noticed he could hardly see due to his eyes being so matted. Just attention to detail wasn't there for my little guy so I have recommendations to another great kennel in the area from friends who are also military. I will not leave him there again. I think they may be fine for short stays but this was a long stay and he looked a little neglected:( read more

I initially thought that I was leaving my dog in good hands, just to find out that I was wrong. After going through the evaluation test which she passed, and taking her to daycare a couple of times with good feedback, we wanted to see her interact with the other dogs for ourselves. We downloaded the app and saw that within 30 mins she was in "timeout". The whole purpose for taking her was for her to interact with the other dogs, not her watching other dogs interact, it would be different if the employees were interacting with her but that wasn't the case. We decided to go get our girl. By the time we got there, it was now a total of 45 mins since she was placed in time out. We spoke to the lady at the front desk, and she was unaware that she was in time out for that length of time and said that a typical time out would be around 15-20 mins. We were initially told that Saturday's would be the best time to take her since those are "slow" days, and as she said there were only a handful of dogs today. However, with such few dogs, they either forgot about her, didn't want to deal with her, or they just didn't care. Who knows how long our dog would have been in time out if we hadn't gone to go get her or how she would have been taken care of on a busier day. With a prior incident of being nicked by the groomer and coming home with a mark on her belly, needless to say, she is not going back. Just because they knew my dogs name does not make up for what happened. We expected more. read more

I adopted a young and very hyper and playful husky mix from the shelter. I bring him to Pawderosa (Schertz location) several days a week for up to 10 hours due to my work schedule. They worked with him from the very beginning and did not turn him away initially even though he was a little rough ;) He still can be a little in your face and annoy the other dogs but he is SO MUCH BETTER since he has been going there and I feel comfortable in knowing how his day went as the staff tells me each time if he has had a good (or bad) day. Everyone who works there is always excited to see my dog and from what I have seen they are always excited to see everyone else's dog as well! They greet your dog warmly as you walk through the door. My dog has also gotten baths there and he leaves all nice and clean! He also starts howling from about 2 miles away and pulls me in the door so fast as he is so excited to go to the ranch! He doesn't even say goodbye! :) read more
