We made reservations for dinner and it was very easy online. We wanted to go right after our matinee was over at the Landmark theatre so our reservation was for 5. It was a perfect time for a Saturday night....not too busy when we arrived but it was getting full by the time we left. We were on the dining room side and it's quieter than the bar side, which was nice for our dinner. The bar side is so much fun and they have music sometimes. Our server was busy....the outside tables make for lots of running around, but our service was very good. My friend had the Espresso Martini and said it was excellent.... good flavor and nice and creamy. She also really enjoyed her beet salad with a grilled shrimp "add-on". She asked for the oranges to be left off, (she has an allergy) , our server made a note for the kitchen and the salad came out perfect. I ordered the Irish Meatloaf which is made with lamb and beef, it came with potatoes, vegetables a delicious creamy cabbage sauce and brown bread with butter. We were too full to order dessert this time but next time we're going to try the Bailey's Cheesecake! read more

I'm always trepidatious about places that have been on Diners and Drive Ins. Didn't help that the hostess who directed us to our table made fun of me for asking about Wi-Fi, and then patted me on the shoulder to say it's okay. Touching your customers is not okay. Live singing was nice (we sat in the back and that was the right volume). Food took awhile to come out. I selected Irish breakfast, while my friends got sandwiches. White pudding: saltier than Ireland. Otherwise reasonable, but definitely wouldn't pass muster across the sea. My friend's champ (mashed potatoes) looked promising, but turned out to be pretty bland. His wife liked the brisket, but the sandwich wasn't served on bread remotely Irish. Ratings: 4 for ambiance, 2 for food, 3.5 for service minus 1 star for the inappropriate hostess. And then she came back and did it again. "Were you on Wi-Fi the whole time?" And slapped me on the shoulder. The manager Alexis was very nice and apologetic about it, but even the beer omitted from the receipt doesn't change the quality of my experience. Sorry. Do not go here. read more

This was my second visit here the first a long time ago and it was still great! The beer selection on tap is great and the food the spice bag is what I ordered was yummy too. Staff were friendly but we had like four different people checking on us outside which was weird without any drink refills until we were well finished with our meal. Their location is great right in downtown and lots of seating indoor and outdoor. They've got a great menu of things to try and I'm sure you'll find something! Will definitely visit again! read more

My wife and I had an early Valentine's Day dinner, or late lunch depending on how you look at it. The place was already full on a Saturday afternoon in the bar area, but we had our table waiting for us in the dining room. The host was friendly, our server was upbeat and attentive, and the owner came by to chat late in the meal. A truly welcoming experience. We started off with two Black & Tans (Guinness and Harp) and an order of the Irish Fritters and mini potato pancakes. Generous enough portions of both, that we set aside half to take home for the next day. Our entrees were the Irish Meatloaf dinner and the baked haddock dinner. Both arrived perfectly timed and perfectly cooked. Again, we couldn't quite finish them, so we boxed up the remainder for Sunday. For dessert, we opted to drink ours. We ordered a strawberry Martini and a whiskey cocktail named after the title of Ireland's Prime Minister. One of our favorites when we visit Syracuse. Probably our last time. So sad. We had the Shepards pie and first and chips. The pie was good but the mashed potatoes was burnt on top. After Removing the burnt crust the rest was delicious. The fish did not seem to be a light white fish though the fries were excellent. We also had the sandwich of the day to go. It was good. For dessert we had the gluten free brownie. It came with ice cream and was very good. We were in a corner of the restaurant and the service was a bit on the slow side. read more

Love this place. My son lives in the area, his mother and I drive about 5 hours to visit him. Kitty Hoynes is so good if he moves out of the area I'll be driving 5 hours to visit Kitty Hoynes. Wow! What a charming place. There are knick knacks decorating the place everywhere and a true pub feeling. The service was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was stellar! This was some of the best onion soup I have ever had. The menu describes it as a guinness onion soup with four kinds of onions. Great depth of flavor in the broth and executed well. Classic Irish pub in Syracuse, it's perfect. Sure, it's been Americanized a bit but that's okay. You can't expect it not to adapt! The hostess was able to find a table for me in the back with a power outlet and so this was my afternoon "office" today. I was here for about three hours in the back dining room. It didn't manage to get too busy that I felt I was taking up a table so it was cool. A tasty local beer followed by an order of their "Irish cannonballs." Great stuff. A ball of corned beef with swiss cheese and sauerkraut all formed into a ball and deep fried for a moment. They were absolutely fantastic and would be a perfect starter dish. For me, afternoon snack. We arrived with a group of 7 around 6PM on a Saturday and the bar was already jam packed. Apparently, reservations are needed on nights there's live music. Luckily, one of our friends talked to the hostess and was able to get us seated. It's a very cool Irish club. Very old school with a lot of charm. We all enjoyed pints of the creature (Guinness), which tasted great. They even have half pints. The food was great, as well. I loved the Reuben fritters. My family and I were driving through Syracuse and decided to stop here for dinner since the menu had a lot of good-sounding options. Initially, I had planned to order a sandwich, but the waitress was stand-off ish and not very helpful in answering my questions (eg what is bacon rasher? What is champ?) so I panicked and ordered a salad because that seemed like a safer option. The food came out quick but sadly, the "Summer Berry Salad" ended up being a pile of limp spinach, mushy berries, and dry chicken. It had absolutely no flavor and was unenjoyable to eat. This place was very good, their whiskey selection was top notch and look behind the bar because they had a lot of stuff not on the menu. Service was good and the food on was very good. I must say this is one of my favorite pubs that I have visited. The atmosphere and decor was awesome. The bartender was very friendly and had no problem asking questions. She made my visit even better. I had a vodka and cranberry and it was delicious. I also had the Reuben fritter, which was fantastic, I did not let the dish that was advertised at being on diners, dives, and drives influence my overall experience of the dish. A pretty solid and consistent place to have food and/or drink. I love the ambiance. Just a bit rustic and down-to-earth. We have only been there for lunch. The sandwiches are well made and a single sandwich with fries is enough for my wife and I to split. The service is great. The bartenders are excellent and pour a mean drink. The Guinness is great. A wonderful traditional Irish experience that I came up on by sheer coincidence, having been passing through the area on business. The decor was spot on, hearkening back to the pubs I stumbled through in Ireland only a year earlier. As I was in a bit of a rush I merely ordered a Guinness and Shepard's Pie for my meal. Most places I've been to mess up the ratio of ingredients when it comes to Shepard's Pie, so I was quite happy when it came out in what I can only describe as, "just right". Love this establishment! They have great cocktails and greater food! Some culinary standouts are the Irish poutine with pork belly starter and the shepherds pie large plate! This is a very lovely and welcoming Irish Pub! The inside decoration really reminds you of a traditional Irish Pub, even though, we have never been to the Isle. It is always great to feel transported this way and feel like you are in the home country. The food was absolutely and insanely delicious, especially my wife's fish and chips, which she decided to replace the fries for Onion Soup. The fish was huge, it looked like they had just taken it out of the sea, because of the size. It was perfectly crisp and soft and flaky on the inside. The Tartar Sauce pairing was perfection and I am coming back, just for this plate alone. The onion soup with Guinness stock was to die for. You can taste the beer, but it was not over powering, excellent blend of flavor and spices and cooked to perfection as well. My daughter had the steak bleu Caesar, but she set aside the blue cheese. She really loved it and I tried a bit and it was really good. The steak was cooked to her desire, which is normally medium and as you can see from the picture, it was pink inside, just the right temperature for this plate. My Irish Smoked Ham Sandwich was very juicy and smokey, you can really feel the flavors coming out of this sandwich and I loved that they added butter, maybe mayo, to the bread to make it crispy and crunchy, the way a perfect sandwich should be. The sweet potatoes were also delicious, very crunchy and crispy as well and you can taste the sweetness of the potatoes. More than anything, we loved the attention, we felt at home at the pub and the place was beautiful, clean and very well decorated. Sláinte!! read more
