Right when you walk in, there's nobody to greet you. Everyone's just busy working and you're standing there like, what do I do? So I just sat down in the little seating area they have. Nobody looked up or said a word to me. So I figured I'll just sit here and see what goes on. This can't be for real. A girl came all the way from the back and said to me and I quote. "Do you know who you're here to see?" this was my first time there.... I just happen to remember the girls name who I made the appointment with online, and I said Rachel. She says OK and walked away. So I don't know who Rachel is of the eight people there , and nobody looked up and smiled and said hi I'm Rachel. I was blown away and just sat there watching everybody in their own world. The vibe in there was so weird. The salon is dreary and dirty. The mirrors were filthy. There was hair all over the floor (i'm not referring to the fresh cut hair from a client in a chair) and baseboards. It was something like I've never seen before. The first interaction I had with Rachel is when she was 10 minutes behind schedule. She finally looked up at me and said I'm sorry. I'll be right with you. I'm almost done. Rachel happened to be the second stylist from the door area, where I was sitting, so when I said I was there to see Rachel, she probably should've looked up and said something to me at that time. Hi Claudia nice to meet you, I'm Rachel. I'm just finishing up this client. I'm a few minutes behind. That did not happen. The First icon and communication was not until she acknowledged she was running late. The fact that they don't have somebody their greeting people is not very welcoming. I felt like walking out, but had to stay. Thank God, I was just getting a haircut. Rachel was nice. I was being quiet because I was very irritated and she told me she could tell I was nervous (because I was being short with the small talk questions) I should've said at that point- No this is me irritated AF and fuming inside, not nervous at all, but she was cutting my hair so I had to be mindful of that. I wasn't up for a small talk. I just wanted to get out of there. My haircut went well, no complaints there. When we were done she just said thanks for coming. She didn't ask if I would like to rebook. I don't know if that's just her thing or if she knew I was irritated. Basically zero customer service in that salon. What they're portraying online is not what's going on in there Pretty sure the photos online of the salon are not the photos of that salon. The walls are different. The lighting is different. I for sure will not go back and highly recommend nobody going there. read more

Audrey is my stylist & she is so talented & knowledgable! She has been doing my hair since she was in cosmetology school & even then she was known as being best for Blonding & hi-lights. Her spirit, drive and authenticity is truly one of a kind- before I met her, I fumbled around with communicating what my taste was, with autumn she hit the mark confidently, with an "oh yes, I got you!" Never have I left visits without feeling absolutely gorgeous- autumn has an innate knowing of her art, and it's delivered so effortless. Let me start off by saying Audrey is by far, without a doubt the best hair stylist I've ever had the pleasure of going to. From the moment I met her I immediately felt at ease and that I could trust my hair in her hands. She does such a good job of understanding your wants and needs and accommodates for what you ask for. I have never been to the same hair stylist twice as I haven't felt confident or satisfied with their work, this is until I met Audrey. Such a hidden gem!!! I recently found this salon by accident, as I work around the corner and looked up nearby salons that sold Davines. When I walked in the salon was beautiful!! I was immediately welcomed and helped even though everyone was busy, and there is not a front desk. After purchasing my products I went home and browsed the website, and immediately knew I had to book an appointment with Bailee. I saw her work on IG and knew my hair needed some of that blonde love! I have lots of hair but it only took her about 3 hours and her personality made it feel like I was just hanging out w/ a friend. I can't recommend her enough, the other gals were also hard at work! Definition of Balayage - a technique for highlighting hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural looking effect. Got balayage done here. Requested an ash tone. This is what it looks like 3 weeks after. Yes toner fades but even with fading it should look even and not patchy. Ended up paying $600 to get a color correction treatment done elsewhere. Salon seems to do good work. One of their stylist is supposed to be experienced with black hair and it didn't turn out well. Wouldn't recommend for dark hair tones. read more

I've been thinking about writing this review since Monday. It is now Wednesday. I got my hair cut by the woman I have been going to for about six months or so. She is one of the few I've personally found that can cut side bangs. Every time I go there I get my bangs cut. While sitting in her chair I said that my bangs were cut too blunt last time they need to be angled more. She asked where I start them and I said by my right eye. So pretty far over. While she was cutting she asked where I wanted them to start and we both said mid eye or so. She started to cut my bangs and I noticed that she was cutting more hair than normal. I didn't go to school for this, I don't know what to do. I should I have watched her. She gave me fringe bangs. I immediately said no i don't like them. I'm not happy with them. She said that she misheard me when I said what I wanted. I don't know where I misspoke, but if that was what she heard why didn't she ask me if I was sure I wanted to go with the fringe? I don't care if that is what everyone is getting now. This is one part of my hair that I cannot get over if done wrong. I seriously dislike my haircut so much now. Like, Looking at my own face makes me mad and I think I look ugly. Not what you want when leaving the hair dresser that is supposed to make you feel good about yourself. She did apologize multiple times, but I just can't. I've never even asked for fringe. She still charged me $50 for the hair cut, but she did apologize. I just don't know how honest that apology was looking at past interactions and how I've gotten my hair done. I know my hair will grow back. It will take a few weeks, but in those few weeks for it to get long enough, I honestly don't like what I see on the mirror. read more

I went to this salon and ask for a balayage and the stylist ended up putting the bleach all the up to the roots of my hair so it ended up not looking good/orange considering I had brown dye on my ends I ask if I could come back and do a root color and different toner on the ends because I dident like it and she said sure I won't recharge you so I went back in and she tried to cancel on me but my hair looked so bad I said I had to come in and so she ended up fixing it but it still just looked like a grown out blonde / brown root situation and she ended up recharging me and then at the end just said sorry but we had to do a lot and then I said ok I just re paid and went to my car and cried because i literally felt scammed you can tell someone you won't recharge them and then charge them the girl is lucky I never messaged her boss or the owner read more

They seem to be good but they want to take your money. Specially if you go to the less experience stylist. They do not care if you are happy with the results, not fixing or accommodates at all. One of their stylist is supposed to be experienced with black hair or at least dark brown and it didn't turn out well. Wouldn't recommend for dark hair tones. read more

I walked into Kiwi Blue at 5:10 and I was greeted by Danette Bjornstad. She offered me a glass of wine or beer, I gladly accepted a glass of wine, it was a long day. Where to start?? I got a haircut from Collette and I haven't stopped admiring it for a week and a half. The environment of the salon was relaxed, yet lively, as 90s pandora was on, I think. (Definitely heard Backstreet Boys and Alanis Morrisette!) Odd location I felt like for such a great salon but that's probably me being used to Portland. Had never been here before - visiting from out of town. Walked in to have my hair dyed back to brown from bleach blonde. Unfortunately I don't recall the woman's name who agreed to squeeze me in while she still had a free hour since we moved so quickly; maybe the salon can reply with her name if she sees this. I told her what I was going for, back to slightly darker than my natural color, we flipped through color swatches and chatted, and she got to work. Elizabeth at Kiwi Blue Salon is my favorite stylist ever! I've been going to her for over a year - a record! I followed her from her previous salon. I like it better at Kiwi Blue. Elizabeth is a miracle worker at blonde, but she does all hair. My hair is dark brown, but see the attached photo how Elizabeth transformed it. I am in love with my hair now! The salon is modern and clean with plenty of free parking right out front and no traffic jams to get there. The chairs are good for my bad back, and the shampoo bowls are great, too, with no water on my back. Elizabeth has the best personality of any stylist I ever went to. She treats me like a friend, which makes it nice to go there. The terrific results keep me coming back! read more

I called one morning with the hope of getting in at my lunch. Really didn't have much hope but Danette had an opening so I grabbed it. My stylist had moved out of the area a couple of years ago and I could not find anyone who would listen to what I wanted and struggled with bad cuts. I've waited a couple of days to review so I could wash and style my hair and I am amazed at the difference! The cut was perfect and I'm in love with my hair again! That dashed my hopes for being able to get a stylish, modern haircut in this town.
