I imagine Jen's former clients in Salt Lake must really be missing her - and their Facebook posts say that is true - because Jen just cut and colored my hair for the first time and both services were simply top notch. My hair is fine - and I have found that unlike fine wine, fine hair does not improve with age - and challenging to cut. I have tried a number of different stylists in the six years I've lived in the Boise area and Jen provided not only the best cut to fit my hair that I've had here but among the best cuts I've had in a dozen years. (And I say that from the perch that my long term stylist in my previous city was crackerjack good.) There are three parts to a good salon experience. The people.The place. The price. This place has it all. I did a poor job remembering to take photo but it's just pretty. Black and white and taupe and a little bling. Made me h as pot to look at and I already stole and implemented an idea. Melissa did a great jib in my hair abs out up with me mumbling constantly through the dang mask! The price was very reasonable especially considering how long I was in the chair. I cannot recommend this salon enough! Emmy (owner/operator) has been cutting and coloring my hair since last summer. I wish I had found her long before I did. I went to ULTA and a few other salons around here and I was never really impressed with anyone. Most stylists will try to sell you on the products they use to wash/style your hair. Emmy doesn't do that. She is very professional while still being personable. She genuinely cares about the clients experience. The other stylists in the salon are always very nice. The Studio is clean (I watch Emmy sanitize each area when she is done working in it), bright and welcoming. It is not cluttered with too many products on the shelves. The music is not loud and there are no candles burning. If you have wanted to find a new stylist, check out The Studio. I won't let anyone else touch my hair anymore! read more

Pretty bummed. I came in over a month ago and decided to finally review. I got in within days of my calling in. Which was great. When I called I spoke to the owner (who was nice) and told her about my series of bad hair cuts. So she paired me with someone who would be good... she assured. So i came in and was in the chair in no time. I sat down and told the gal what I wanted and showed her the issues with my last cut which where still visible (the bad cut was 5 months prior). She started cutting away. I wear glasses so cannot see any issues during a cut. As with all salons they always style which is great but you cannot see any issues through the curls. My hair looked great and the Color was good from what I could tell. Got home and started looking closely and saw some issues. Washing my hair the next day showed those issues were worse than I thought. The bottom half of my hair is 1/2-1 inch shorter than the top half... which can be hidden while my hair is down but as soon as it is up in a ponytail most of the bottom falls out. There are numerous long chunks of hair. Noticeably longer than the rest of my hair. I asked for smooth blended layers so that I have movement but also won't need to curl is everyday. My hair has to be curled every day to hide the choppiness. Half way through my cut we were chatting and she was saying that about a month prior she left great clips. Everyone needs to start somewhere but when you speak to the owner and tell them of the issues they should pair you with someone who is appropriate. I tipped my stylist well (because I couldn't see the issues until later than day) and did not call to complain or go back. I have found that going back in never turns out well. The reason for two stars instead of less would be because my stylist was very nice and I do believe she did the best she could do. My color was great... it doesn't have to be curled to look good (those of you who have Highlights will understand). Also, because I got in quickly and everyone was nice. read more

You guys... I really, really didn't want to do this. I tried to make it into a good experience, but it just wasn't. I'll try to give some pros and cons. PROS: -Got me in for a next-day appointment -Emmy was very personable and fun to talk to -Salon is comfortable and beautifully decorated CONS: -Just take a look at the pictures -Had to go back in for her to fix the first cut and waited 30 mins in the lobby for my recut. Total time in the salon for the day was 2.5 hrs for a haircut only, no shampoo, no style. And there were still major problems. -It just seems like the stylist maybe doesn't work with long hair very often because she asked if I wear my hair draped forward or draped in back of my shoulders (implying that it would need to be cut differently based on my answer). I told her that I have really long hair so it goes in front some times and in back some times. The first cut she never even pulled my hair forward to check side and front length, so my right side was almost 1 inch longer than the left. I'm not a hair stylist, but everyone who has cut my long hair in the past has cut all the way around to check for length discrepancy and to ensure a nice, even cut. -I was very specific in asking for only 2-4 inches off the length, layers, lots of thinning to take the bulk and heaviness out of the bottom of my hair, and showed pictures (one of which was from the salon's own posted yelp pictures. And I ended up with mostly one layer, fairly short, uneven chunky hair. In short, I'm super bummed. I was looking forward to an excellent cut based on the other yelp reviews. I'm sad that now I've gotta try to figure out how to get the shape I want on much shorter hair than I anticipated (due to having to fix the original cut). I found this salon through Yelp, which every woman knows can be a little scary. Emmy lived up to her reviews. I have found her to be personable, considerate, caring and knowledgeable. Because she is a new stylist for me, I showed her pictures and she did exactly what I wanted. Prices are reasonable and the salon is very clean and has a good vibe. The only downside is the location. It is at the corner of Chinden Blvd. and Eagle Road and you can't make a left out the shopping center to get back on Chinden. But that is not Emmy's fault. Jen McKeithen is great! I brought my daughter in for a super short Bob haircut and Jen knew how to cut it perfectly so it lays flat and looks great without blowdrying or styling at all. My daughters hair is very thick and wavy and was hard to manage. Now it looks so cute and is effortless! She really knows what she is doing and does it well. I went in for a major color correction: due to an error by a student at a beauty school, my hair was weak, over bleached and green! I was terrified all my hair was going to fall out! Emmy got me in for an emergency, cut my hair so that it had a style that looked purposeful, and corrected the color with a gentle product so that my hair didn't look as fried as it truly was. It is only the first step, but I feel like a million bucks! I'll be going back for more color and cut, in order to get my hair to the best it can be. I've also seen Lisa, and she is amazing as well. While visiting the Meridian area, I found myself (and daughter) in need of a hair cut. Not knowing the area, I consulted Yelp to give me a starting point for Salon searches. The first salon I called never answered their phone, so I went to my next option, Studio Salon and Spa. Trent answered the phone and though they were already booked for the day, he offered me appointments for the next day. I took the offer and waited with anticipation. We showed up a few minutes early and were greeted warmly as soon as we came in. Trent took both of us back to a chair and listened as I told him and showed pictures of what I was looking for. Short hair cuts are not very forgiving if a mistake is made, so I was a bit nervous. Trent combed through my hair as I mentioned how nice it was to be in a real salon again after almost 3 years being overseas. He took that comment to heart and gave my daughter and I some extra TLC with our shampoo and conditioning. During the cut, Trent was very thorough and precise with each snip of his scissors. He verified how I wanted my hair cut over the ears and the length in front before cutting. The symmetry of length was checked several times for accuracy and precision, but only because Trent is a perfectionist who wants his clients happy with their cut and style. He is confident with his shears and understands the art of styling hair. Trent showed my daughter the same care and concern he did for me and I was mesmerized watching this talented man at work. I went to stylist Lisa Peterson for the first time in October with virgin hair, wanting a balayage. The first picture was after my first session. I had wanted something subtle, but wanted to get away from my plain dark black hair. Lisa did a lovely job painting my hair and leaving me with a gorgeous caramel balayage! I went back to her a second time this January wanting to go a little lighter, and more dramatic, and I got a beautiful beigey, melty balayage! I have been seeing the same stylist for a couple of years now, Jocey... She works magic!! She ended up here after working at a different salon, and of course I came to see her. She can do everything -- dye, cut, extensions, updos, waxing, makeup, maybe even more... Perfect every time, and she loves what she does. On top of that, she is incredibly nice and fun to talk to. I actually live in Washington now, but visit often and hold out sometimes for way too long just too see her. The salon itself is very chic. I don't think they held back much the expense of the interior. Nice sitting area if you have to wait and they have a Keurig machine if you want to use it. The entire staff is really nice, although I've only ever seen Jocey. Apparently the owner brings in her monkey if you go in on a Saturday... I keep meaning to go see that. I visited this salon for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a highlight/lowlight and haircut. I saw Melissa. She asked lots of questions to get a good picture of what I really wanted. My hair, which I've been highlighting for more than 20 years, is fine and lifts quickly. Melissa attended to those details, educating me along the way on what she was doing and why. I prefer very subtle highlights (many stylists want to make my naturally brown hair overly blonde!) and she got the job done. For the cut, she gave my just-shoulder-length hair some nice long layers to add volume. I'll definitely be back to have Melissa do my hair again. As an aside, I sent my college-aged daughter to her a few days later for a haircut. My girl has hair precisely the opposite of mine--super thick, wavy, and big. The fact that Melissa was able to make both of us happy, with such different hair types, is a testament to her ability. read more

Dana A. has been my hair stylist for years! We have gone from bleaching my short hair to growing it out and having an ombre and then to a dark red/purple and we just cut it off again! Dana is so accommodating and easy to work with. She truly wants her customers to be happy and she makes sure that they are before they walk out the door. Dana is truly a genuinely kind person. Plus she is fun to be around which is a must since I'm spending 3+ hours with her at a time. We always have a fun time chatting during our appointments and I always walk out happy with my hair. I'm new to the area and thought I'd try this place since they got good reviews on Yelp and they're close. I called to make an appointment and had to leave a voicemail. Then, instead of calling me back, someone from the salon texted me to set an appointment. I thought this was a pretty inappropriate way to set an appointment, but responded. We went back and forth a few times ( with quite a bit of time in between) and when I didn't get a response to my last text, I made an appointment somewhere else. They finally responded to my last text THE NEXT DAY (with no explanation or apology). they're super nice and really great at getting you in on short notice, but man. these guys have managed to butcher my bangs not once, but twice. i'm not sure these girls know what china doll bangs are. when i say straight across, i don't mean a weird lopsided thing that looks like the bottom half of an H. that looks ridiculous with my hair and was not at all what i asked for. i believe her name is mckenzie? mikayla? either way, don't go to her if you want nice bangs. the haircut itself was nothing spectacular. i've had better from mall salon. i'm just glad i finally found a new stylist, after being new in the area. good luck to this salon-- i hope yall figure out how to cut bangs sometime in the nearby future. read more
