I went to KK Dental in 2019. I stopped seeing them because I lost confidence in the Periodontist. I learned later that she had not been certified for a year yet. My case required a big sinus lift. Her lack of explained her apprehension. What I didn't understand was why there was not a senior Periodontist there to assist her due to her lack of experience. In 2024 I got a bill saying I owed $404.80. I called asking what the bill was for and I was told by billing that they did not know, but they knew I owed $404.80. I asked for the head of billing, thinking they would know what it was for. I was told they did not have a head of billing. This went on for months. I finally told them I would not pay them if they could not tell me what the money was for and show me that my insurance denied it. Then they turned me over to a collection's agency owned by an attorney named David B. Watner. I didn't pay them. Then I got sued in Small Claims by KK Dental, but represented by David B. Watner. I turned them in to the Attorney General of NJ, which you should do if this happens to you. I found other people experiencing the same thing online. I went to court and we went before a mediator. I agreed to settle it for $250. (They had added on fees to get it up to $500.) This is why I settled. One, I'm not an attorney and I could always lose. Two, The average attorney in NJ earns $348 per hour. The $250 is below his rate and KK Dental should not get anything. AND I'm done with it. On top of that, I served him with discovery requests, which gave him billable time that KK Dental had to pay. (I'm assuming he is not married to someone in the KK Dental family or running some kind of money-making scheme with KK Dental.) The biggest question you have to ask is, Why does KK Dental have an Attorney/Collection Agency on their payroll? How was it beneficial to go to court for $404.80? Most importantly, why did they wait 5 years to bill me? And, why is NJ allowing dentists to bill so far out? The insurance company is required to respond to a claim in a specified time, which is usually 40 days. Why aren't the dentists required to bill within the same amount of time? This is the Docket No.: SCP-2025-3573239 and Case No.: UNN DC-007738-25 for my court case. A word to the wise: Do not give any healthcare provider your social security number. They do not need it to provide healthcare. It is so they can threaten to damage your credit if you have a dispute with them. Tell them it is none of their business. Do not give them a credit card to keep on file either. They will charge your card when they did not get a preapproval for a procedure. They should be required to get everything preapproved. If it is not preapproved, they need to tell you exactly how much you will be out of pocket BEFORE they start the procedure. Don't be afraid of these people! Stand up to them! read more

Update I went thru all reviews on their all 3 websites and everyone facing same billing issue which seems like fraud. I am planning to talk to insurance and complain board office as I am going thru same issue that most of you guys went thru. Only issue is billing and they are coming back after 4-5 years. They are asking me money that insurance denied and there was 0 responsibility of patient and I have insurance proof. I paid what was approved by insurance and I have all proof. They even tried to change the statement when I pointed out to them and I have proof if that too. Thanks for all comments and I am also facing billing issue. They took all money and signed document before extracting my tooth. After 4 years now they came back and asking more money. In last 4 years I did not see any email and all bills were settled. KK Dental attempted to perform unnecessary procedures on my teeth and refused to fill the cavities they claimed to have found unless I agreed to the additional work. Seeking further evaluation, I visited two other dentists for second and third opinions, both of whom confirmed that I do not have any cavities. Additionally, due to the excessive X-rays taken by KK Dental, my insurance will not cover new X-rays until next year, and bitewings will not be covered until 2028, leaving me unable to get necessary imaging for the next 1-3 years. read more

Do not go here. The staff is incompetent and they try to charge you extra for unnecessary treatment that the insurance does not cover. They tried to charge me for an extra numbing solution for each of the 3 little cavities. I told them I don't want it after speaking with my insurance and confirming they don't cover it because it's not necessary. The day of the appointment the charge was still there and they tried to tell me the doctor would not feel comfortable doing the 3 small cavities without this extra upcharge which would bring my bill from 45 to 400.00. Terrible dental group! I booked an appointment with them for routine cleaning and after the x-ray was done, they told me I need deep cleaning. They calculated their fees and gave me my responsibility after insurance payment. I contacted a dentist who does not take my insurance, and he gave me a quote which is $100 more than my responsibility if I go with KK Dental which accepts my insurance. I decided to save the $100 and proceeded with KK Dental. I paid in full at the time of the service. Few weeks later they sent my wife a bill of $120 for the service they provided to me. I was surprised for 2 reasons: 1) Why would they send the bill to my wife when I was the patient, and I hold the insurance; 2) Why would they charge me another $120. I sent them a letter to inquire about these issues. Their response was very surprising. They said that they billed my wife to avoid HIPAA violation, which meant they had no clue what HIPAA violation is, since they actually were violating my privacy by sending bills to my wife on my behalf. They also indicated that they miscalculated the amount of my responsibility at the time of service, which is clearly a lie. By going to them, I ended paying $20 more than if I went to the dentist who does not accept my insurance. The quality of the service of the dentist who does not accept my insurance far exceeds the quality that KK Dental provides. In fact, I believe I would have done a lot better job cleaning at home by myself than the cleaning they did. read more

Dr. Ahn saved me! All of a sudden, I could no longer get numb from the "standard" way.. my old dentist just frustrated the situation by becoming defensive and not giving a solution.. I stumbled upon this place because an old friend from high school was a dentist at the North Brunswick location .. he happened to leave right when my family started to be seen there.. I was given Dr. Ahn as my dentist instead.. and the rest is history. He completely numbed me (using an alternative method) and worked on fillings. He also happens to be very pleasant and patient (I'm a very antsy, nervous patient). They also treat my husband and daughter. read more

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE I got a bacterial infection during a root canal performed there. I spent weeks in pain, without being able to open my mouth, feeling pressure in my ear, not sleeping, not chewing. The dentist saw me, didn't even touch my mouth. Prescribed me a strong antibiotic and steroids and showed me the exit - I guess I was an inconvenience. The medication made my immunity drop to the floor (in the middle of COVID pandemic!) Guess what? They didn't even call me to complete the tooth treatment (for the crown)! Never even offered help with the medication (I paid out of pocket). They never called me back, to see if I was ok. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE. If even after reading this, you decide to give it a try, make sure to look around to see if they are keeping things clean. My second review about the front desk staff. Today, to my surprise I got a call from Dr. Paul asking me if we could move up my appointment. I was like "What appointment? The one I cancelled months ago????" This is not the first time the front desk did NOT cancel my appointment from their book. Check my review from a few years ago. This is unacceptable. When I called again to make sure they REMOVE my name from their appointment book (for the SECOND time), the receptionist tells me how busy they are and someone will call me back. SERIOUSLY???? I read the reviews and I'm always amazed at the disparity especially having just experienced some incredible dental care. I needed a root canal and my current dentist is no longer performing them so I was referred to KK Dental. I read the reviews and had some initial concerns but so far I cannot say anything negative about their practice in Edison. My root canal was painless, they kept me comfortable and after a day or two any associated pain or discomfort subsided and I was equally impressed by the technical layout of each exam room which utilizes a large screen to show both patient and staff very clear images of the area to be operated on. The location in Edison is easy to get to from a variety of highways and although having a tight parking lot it's not difficult to find a spot and walk to the office. The reception staff has been very friendly and helpful and both the doctors, support staff and techs have been nothing but friendly, professional and compassionate. I was given a temporary crown today and again a painless procedure despite the level of grinding necessary to prepare a front tooth for a permanent crown in the next few weeks. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The doctor is average however the front office staff is subpar, specifically the self-acclaimed "office manager", Suzanne. I first visited this office last Thursday 2/2 for a consultation and was told I needed a repeat root canal. I waited an hour in the waiting room for a 5 minute consultation. During this time many patients came in and out but the I heard a staff member comment that Suzanne did not check them in so they were unaware they showed up to their appointment. She seemed very confused, flustered and displayed odd behavior most of the time. While checking out she told me that my dental work was covered 100% by my insurance. Today 2/7 I show up for my root canal and Suzanne admitted to me that she forgot to save my appointment but I would still be seen. When I asked about the nitrous oxide I had requested she told me they did not administer it, when I asked why she told me they did and even made a joke about it when making the appointment she had no answer. Following the root canal as I'm leaving to checkout Suzanne informs me that I have a bill with a deductible to pay. When I explained she had previously informed me it was covered 100% she told me she only said that because she "felt for me" and because I told her I was in pain...the tooth already had a root canal when I was a child, there was no pain to begin with so I immediately became alarmed. When I asked her for a bill she refused to give me anything that showed my charges and how much the insurance paid. I proceeded to explain that it is her job to inform the patients if something is not covered under insurance and of any outstanding balance they might owe for what the office charges she responded "THAT IS NOT MY JOB!". When I asked if I could pay half today and half next week because I did not have my wallet on me she said "No, Im going to send this whole bill to collections and take your license plate and call the police". When I told her this was an illegal practice and my patients rights states I'm entitled to such she said she felt threatened and called the police. The place arrived shortly after while I waited calmly in the waiting room with my mother who had driven me to my appointment for not reason (because they did not have nitrous oxide anyway) I still continued to ask for a bill. Conveniently she handed me the bill as the police were walking in the door. Suzanne began to play victim immediately saying I tried to walk out without paying, I was being loud and aggressive and that I was having financial difficulties all because I asked for a bill of what I was paying for. I have never experienced such irrational and unprofessional behavior in my life. Not only am I a nurse who is very in tune with current healthcare practices and patients rights, to act so belligerent as a office manager raises some concerns for the well being of all patients who attend this practice. Nonetheless after leaving the officers said they had never seen anything of this sort before. SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND FIND A DIFFERENT DENTIST. read more

I called again and was told to wait a few more minutes. Nobody ever called me to the point that I left because it was now an hour after my appointment. It was not until almost 4 hours after my scheduled appointment when I received a text message that my appointment needs to be rescheduled. VERY FUNNY! I will never be coming back here again. The outside looks very run down and there was a crime scene investigation unit and cops? Not sure what happened but a simple call prior to me even arriving stating that I needed to reschedule to a better time would have solved everything. I've had nothing but good experiences here. There's a unique, open building layout. Waiting times have been at a minimum. I prefer early morning appointments, but sometimes the doors would still be locked when I got there. The only complaint i have is that there isn't much parking. read more

Had a root canal completed by Dr. Beder and he was awesome as they come. I felt no pain during the process and he took the time to ensure the root was completely eradicated. what a bad experience. i had to pay for the doctor mistake saying that i had a cavit, which was no true, when he finished the procedure he said: there wasn't a cavity. when i confronted him 2 weeks after, he changed the history. same with the lady al the front desk, who charged me for an item my insurance doesn't cover stating that she submitted the claim but the insurance sent me proof that she never submitted, so i had to pay the whole amount. she also said that the item no covered by the insurance was used in my tooth because the cavity was very deep, later the doctor told me that the cavity was very small on top of the amalgam, another lie (the doctor assistant showed me the tooth picture before, it was perfect). the front desk lady on the computer told me some others liars that i couldn't believe she was doing that just to get some money.after all, i wasn't supposed to pay for NOTHING. they can't let you go without paying a big bill. they're big big liars. this wasn't the only bad experience in this office, but this was the worse. read more

Similarly to the previous post, I had an appointment here where I sat in the parking lot and was never seen. My previous experience here was good. This was a follow up cleaning appointment scheduled at 9:00am to ensure that plaque build up was under control. I got a normal reminder email about my appointment so I showed up about 15 minutes early to check in. The parking lot was empty. I waited for about 10 minutes before I decided to call the number listed on the website. When I called, I was informed by the overall KK Dental Central staff that they would send a notification to the site to let them know I arrived. I waited 10 more minutes and no luck. I got out and went to the door and saw a different number to call. I called this number and was led to a voicemail at the Somerset location. I went back to my car and called the KK Dental Central staff again and explained the situation. I was told by the agent that they would send another notification to the center to inform them that I was waiting. I asked the agent if the site was closed for any reason and was told that there was nothing in the system that showed that the location would not be open. After I got off the phone, I waited about another 10 minutes and left. All in all, I sat in the parking lot from 8:50 until 9:30 and it remained empty the entire time. Around 11:30am that day, I received a text message that my appointment would need to be rescheduled. I was very disappointed in the handling of my appointment and the fact that I wasn't reached out to prior to the appointment in order to reschedule. I had made changes to my work schedule to be at the appointment which ended up not happening and being a waste of my time. I intend to find another dental clinic to care for my dental needs. read more

I went to the North Brunswick location. After getting a cleaning that was so ROUGH they had to numb my mouth, I started experiencing electric jolts in one of my molars a day after. I go back and they tell me that tooth, which has a filling in it already, needs a root canal. So.. I make an appointment but also asked the receptionist for an estimate. Had I not, I would have been slammed with an $1100 bill! She 'threw' on a deep cleaning in addition to a root canal and cap. When asked why the cap was so much more than what my insurance company said it would be, they replied that they don't use that kind of cap and that they only use a special cap. I said forget it. I will find another dentist for which I did. Well, today I call in to get my dental X-rays and they say it will cost $35. I called my insurance company. They said I am entitled to one free copy. I called back and they were rude and insisted it was $35. My insurance company had to call them to insist on giving me my X-rays. This is a VERY money hungry practice and they break rules AND teeth! cleaning only took less than 10mins( xray took longer than actual cleaning). Doc was only talking about removing my asymptomatic wisdom tooth. Best part was they charged for "Oral Hygiene Instructions". And the doc did not even talk about regular brushing/flossing. Sometimes they overbook so one may feel rushed and you won't get full service. Long wait before you get to see a dentist. I had times my appt was changed by the staff w/o my agreement. Undoubtedly the worst dental care centre out there. The staff and doctors are extremely incompetent and unprofessional. At one visit the dentist told me that I required root canal treatment on just one tooth, the next week she pointed out another tooth that needed the same treatment. God knows what changed within one week, especially since she used the same X-rays. God forbid, if you call them regarding claims for services that were not provided, they will send your bill to a collection agency. The staff here is friendly and kind, ensuring that all appointments are handeled with efficiency. Appointments are always made quickly, and the wait time once you arrive in the office is close to zero. Who could ask for a better wait time when going to healthcare provider =)? My teeth always feel healthy after a routine cleaning, and my time in the dentist's chair is always comfortable. I am glad to have finally found a dental practice who has a staff that is familiar to me, and makes my dental appointments easy =) read more

Before writing my post I reviewed some of the other posts. I however have to write my post based on my experience. I found some of the same issues to be true as those I read, like the pricing difference in comparison to what my insurance quoted. I def. did not like that. I felt as if KK were trying to charge more then what was allowed and had I not called the insurance company myself they would have gotten more then they should have. I too had a mix up with my scheduled appointment in the beginning but it was straightened out. I have saved the best for last. THE STAFF. I found them ALL to be some the most nicest people, professional, that I have ever dealt with. I had the privilege of having Dr. Ahn, and he was "FAB". Very gentle, instructive, patient, AND CARING. I love him...lol. He did my crown and I could not be more happier with the results. I of course was very skeptical in the beginning. Who likes a visit to the dentist office? No one that I know. I have since recommended KK to my friend, who did get a cleaning and was satisfied with the service. To Stephanie who did my deep cleaning, you are also "FAB", NO PAIN!!!! came with it.... I still have to go back to get my other side deep cleaned and actually looking forward to it...I have to say those ladies at the front desk are "SUPER FAB" as they all were. Absolutely awful. I went there a few times to have a root canal corrected from a previous dentist. I paid $400 up front which was my portion not covered by insurance. I then received the bill a few months later for additional money for Crown work. I never had Crown work done there. I called and spoke to the manager to correct this incorrect situation. He did not listen to a word I had to say about the incorrect billing and he insisted I had Crown work done which was wrong and that my insurance company was requiring me to pay them additional money. This is a lie. You mean to tell me a filling is not covered? I paid $400 upfront. Their office is inept and I truly believe they falsely billed me on purpose. Ironically enough I pulled my records out of their office the week before and cancel my insurance with them and switch to another provider for my dental work and this bill just reinforces how absolutely awful they are there. The manager even hung up on me while I was trying to explain to him that I was being billed for a service I never received. Was I upset? Of course !!! because nobody would listen to me that they were wrong and I was not because I knew what service I had performed. Before this whole mess happened I just found them to be clueless for most of their practices and honestly it's not even that clean there very old and dingy. I called my insurance company because that's what he told me to do (the manager). Then miraculously they submitted an adjusted Bill to my insurance company because they did have the wrong service. Now let's wait and see if I get another bill in the mail ...I'm sure I will. Would i recommend this place? Hell no ! Absolute and true disappointment this dentist is. I will definitely recommend this office to all, I had called them last month as I was having severe pain in my tooth, they took me in immediately, I had my own dentist who could not accommodate me on the same day, this office was closing and waited for me and took me out of my misery. The Indian lady on the front desk was very kind and made me laugh too. I don't have insurance and was expecting a huge bill, But i was surprised with the decent bill. The Problem with KK Dental is their constantly changing office managers, and the one they have now - Destiny - has killed their business for me. Went there today ready to pay over $350 to start a crown, plus a balance of about $200 for the root canal done on the same tooth last month. I had alrdy been told 1 1/2 months ago by the billing manager, Patma, to not worry about the add'l $200 consultation fee for the rt canal. Their policy since I started going several years ago has always been that the consult fee is waived if the patient has them do the work. So I went today and 1st thing Destiny tells me is that now I MUST pay the $200 consult fee - with all the other money- or she wouldn't let me see the dentist!!! All including Patma refused to consider the breach of ethics and plain fairness, so they have now forever lost a longtime, good-paying customer. And soon they'll be hearing from the state dental board about not only this problem but also a bad tooth job they did. SO PEOPLE: AVOID THESE CRAZIES!!! read more

We are a family of three and have been visiting K.K Dental since 2005. It was going fine until they got a new office manager who is not only rude but does not even understand legal responsibilities as a network provider. The man just argued over and over again and ried to complain about the insurance while they are network provider. As per laws, when insurance says that certain amount is customer/patient responsibility, the matter ends there. You cannot charge even a penny more. Recently we experienced situation when the office manager told me that he was refunding the extra paid beyond what Insurance said, but we should go to a different doctor from next time. I told them to send me all my records and then we will go to a different doctor. The owner of the K.K.Dental (Dr. Kulkarni) has been a good man and I tried to reach him out but the office manager did not allow me. I know he will be in the office on Monday 03/07 and I will tell him how he lost a customer of over 10 years and also who referred many other patients. Hopefully if the office manager gets fired and Dr. Kulkarni, things may change, but I will keep further feedback after talking to him. read more
