Despite both their website and other reviews saying that they have dresses of every budget, their show room seemed to have only dresses at the 4k and over price point. They do have more dresses in the backroom, but only your consultant goes back there. I had been to several stores before I went there and I explained my vision to my consultant, specifying that strapless dresses were a hard no and I wanted more unique lace, nothing overly flowery. She brought me three dresses, all strapless, and then when I said I didn't like any of them she told me they didn't have anything for me then and she wished me luck. I was visibly pretty upset at this point as my mom had driven more than 4 hours to go dress shopping with me and at the oh so famous store I wasn't even going to try a single dress. My consultant did let me come in the back store room to look, and I pulled a couple dresses to try but they were not what I wanted and marked up higher than I had seen them at previous stores. Bottom line of you don't want a traditional, blingy/sparkly and have a $4k budget or more, maybe just take a pass on this store. read more

Although I didn't buy my dress at Kleinfelds, I was extremely impressed with the service. My consultant, Mackenzie, was nice and knowledgable, and never put pressure on me. We went over my hour and a half, as she wanted to make sure I got to try everything on in the room. Her suggestions were great and she understood my style and what I was going for. I have been in the fashion industry for years, and I was incredibly impressed with my consultants knowledge of construction, fabrication and design. The only reason why this is a 4 star review is because the dress selection was not unique enough for me. read more

I went to Kleinfeld's with my friend, who is getting married this summer, and the rest of her bridesmaids. Her mother came along with us as well. She had made three appointments with Kleinfeld's: an appointment for bridesmaid dresses, for a mother of the bride dress, and for bridal accessories. We wound up staying at the store for all of half an hour. The first problem was when we stepped up to reception to check in for our appointments: they told us that they do not carry mother of the bride dresses. The receptionist was very surprised that we'd been able to book a mother of the bride appointment, but sure enough, there it was in her computer alongside our other appointments. So that part didn't happen at all. Our consultant was fifteen minutes late to meet us, since her previous appointment had run long. They did give us water, which was nice. When she asked us what we were here to see, and we said bridesmaid dresses, she looked surprised. Great sign, right? But she gamely took us back to the section where the bridesmaid dresses were housed. We told her that we were looking for a teal dress that's knee-length. We found out right away that Kleinfeld's only carries three collections of bridesmaid dresses, each line with roughly 8-10 dresses each. Only one of those lines carried anything in our colour, and they didn't do short dresses at all. So we were basically out of luck. We watched our consultant putter around, going through the racks and then pulling her supervisor aside, clearly trying to salvage the situation. When she finally came back to us, she admitted that she didn't have what we were looking for but that their alterations department could shorten any long dresses or even dye them for us if we knew what we wanted. She did make a comment about how the dresses don't come in a "wide range of sizes" and that we may need to "address that once we've picked a dress", given that all four bridesmaids vary in height, size and shape. None of us felt welcome or like we were going to have a good experience there, so we left without even looking at accessories for the bride. I can't speak to the shopping for brides themselves, but I can absolutely say do NOT attempt to find a bridesmaid or mother of the bride dress at Kleinfelds. Doesn't matter that they advertise those things - their selection isn't worth it. And they seem to prioritize making a sale over actually making a customer feel welcome and happy. Will not be returning for future weddings at all. read more

Unfortunately I had a similar experience as most of the ladies on this comment thread. Not knowing a thing about bridal gowns, I went to Kleinfeld because I knew the name and figured that they would be able to give me some guidance with respect to my wedding dress. The stylist who I was matched up with was very nice. Maybe not super helpful but kind. When I decided on a dress, I wasn't completely sold on the dress but after the stylist informed me that I could have it altered into more of what I was envisioning I decided to purchase it! To my disappointment, after many visits to various seamstresses (because Kleinfeld does not do the alterations) I was given the same answers about the shape. The dress could definitely not be altered into what the stylist said it could be. By this point I was left with a dress that was unwearable and out a pretty penny. To add insult to injury I was informed by customer care that because this dress was a sample sale dress it cannot be returned or refunded. I definitely would not have purchased the dress if I had have known it could not be altered in such a way. I decided to turn this very negative experience Into something somewhat positive and donated the dress. My wedding is only months away now and I finally found the perfect dress at a fantastic little boutique on Don Mills road. I would not recommend Kleinfeld to my clients, friends and family. read more

I had an amazing experience at Kleinfelds. My group of ladies had the comfy sofas in a corner away from the changerooms. The stylist pulled the dresses that I had already picked out from their website. I had told her that my wedding was in July and she said she would double check to make sure the gowns I wanted were available. She said we were good so we started trying them on. She wasn't pushy. Her plan for me that day was to just narrow down a silhouette but I wanted to buy a dress that day. The 4th dress I tried on was amazing. It was THE dress I wanted. Sadly, the manager came into the changeroom when I walked back to say that the designer is currently working on gowns for Sept weddings so there was a good chance I wouldn't be able to get it. I left annoyed because I wanted to avoid this situation. It was a great experience and I absolutely recommend people to go, just make sure they triple check gown availability if you're on a tight timeline. read more

First off, my consultant was amazing. All the staff there are exceptionally nice and professional. If you're looking to go to a bridal salon where you're treated like the only customer in the room I highly recommend Kleinfelds. Now for the not so great part. I flew in from a small town to go to Kleinfelds. I had shopped at one other bridal salon but was looking for more variety. My budget was around 5500, and for the right dress I gladly would have paid a bit more. The problem at Kleinfelds was the variety wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I was given only eight dresses to try on, and they were dresses I had already seen at less expensive salons. I showed my consultant pictures of some dresses I had wanted to try on, but was told they didn't have them in the salon. They only had about five mermaid dresses for me to try on in the entire store, which was disappointing. I know that my wedding budget wasn't in the 10-15000 range, but with a 5000 range I expected to see better quality dresses and be shown better quality dresses and I wasn't. Like I said before, they have amazing people working there, the layout is crisp and clean, the consultants are focused on you as a person, and you'll get top notch service there. The only downfall is the selection. You don't get as much bang for your buck there as you would somewhere else. read more

Ill start by saying "that's Pnina Tornai- that's not for you." My entire appointment was spent being reminded of how small my budget was. My budget was 4k and my stylist Gordana was unhappy that I didn't have a "traditional Italian bride" budget. She did put me in a beautiful lace pronovias dress, but the experience soured any positive experience with the dress. She was also disappointed that i was not getting married in a church. She rushed us out and did not ask me how I felt about any dresses - she just focused on her own views and imposed them on me and my bridesmaids. She kept comparing me to the bride across the hall with a 12k budget and went to the back room multiple times to gossip. Our entire appointment was meant to last 1 hour and 30 minutes, but we were only there for a half hour. She did not offer to take me to the showroom and just kept insisting that "every strapless dress is out of my budget." read more

Very late but I bought my wedding dress in October 2014 for my September 2015 wedding. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT HAVE YOUR DRESS ALTERED HERE! They have 3 brackets which are (approximately $500, $700 & $1000). When I purchased my dress the service was great and I was told I would only have to pay $500 for alterations. I wanted to have cap sleeves added and because it was a trunk sale I was told I would only have to pay $100. When I went back in the summer of 2015 I was told I would have to pay $700 (plus HST) for my alterations and at my first fitting I was told that the cap sleeves would be $350. Fast forward to my 2nd fitting when I noticed the lace (to be added after hemming, which wasn't necessary) had not been put on the end of my dress. When I asked my seamstress she told me she didn't know what I was talking about. To be clear, the lace trim was on the sample dress I tried on and a picture was in my file and it was noted on my invoice. Turns out the lace meant for the trim was what she asked me about in the first fitting which I obviously didn't realize what it was for and she tried to cut it up into cap sleeves. The worst part was when I went to pick up my dress on September 11th (wedding on Sept 12th) IT WAS NOT READY. My stepmother had to leave partway through our rehearsal dinner to pick up my dress. The manager thankfully refunded my alteration fees, only because I was so upset that I was crying. If you buy a dress here (and they do have beautiful dresses) just take it anywhere else for alterations! read more

AMAZING: My Mam and sister came to visit from Ireland to help me find my dress. I booked Kleinfield's mainly for the experience as I had been told the experience is great there but the price point is on the high end (Didn't think I would find anything in my budget). I was apprehensive going here because of the prestige and was afraid they would laugh at my budget. We booked an appointment on a Tuesday evening. My Mam, sister and friend came to the appointment with me. We arrived, checked in and were seated. Our consultant Elizabeth greeted us and brought us into the showroom, she asked if we wanted to be seated in the changing room area or out on the floor. We chose the floor. Once seated she went through everything - what I had tried on, what I liked/disliked, asked me for photos, what the venue was like, what my Fiancé is like. We were brought a little tray of mini Klienfield water bottles - so cute. Elizabeth explained that what was out on the floor sample wise was only a small selection versus what they have in the back. Even though my budget was modest she wanted us to go around and point out what we liked/didn't like in styles, fabrics etc. At no point did I feel bad for having a modest budget. The change rooms are fab - double doors, spacious, loads of seating. Elizabeth selected a range of dresses from the back and she really brought it dresses that were what I had described and pointed out. She was great helping me in and out of the dresses and covering me with a Kleinfield robe in-between each dress! She couldn't do enough to help me feel great, giving me the pads to enhance cleavage etc. The store was quiet but I felt like the most important person there. Elizabeth was great, not pushy and I felt like she gave her honest opinion on each dress - she didn't just tell me I looked amazing in them all. My entourage loved one of the dresses so we retried it on, Elizabeth put on a veil and even gave me a little bouquet to hold. When we said 'yes to the dress', they brought out a round of bubbly for everyone and took a photo of us all. The manager came and brought me back to the changing room and took my measurements with Elizabeth. We discussed everything regarding size to order in and alterations - which they do in-house (at a cost) but I feel confident they will tailor the dress perfectly as they wouldn't want their brand tarnished. Another great thing is they will only have my dress in just before my first fitting and I will take it home just before the wedding. In a city like Toronto (small condos!) I do not want the responsibility of storing my dress for any longer than necessary! Overall it was an amazing experience start to finish. So professional and made me feel like a princess. I have no issues putting my trust in Kleinfield's for the rest of my fittings etc. Definitely go if you get the opportunity. read more

I went here more for the experience of dress shopping with all my bridesmaids and my mom. It was a great experience, and a lovely atmosphere. It was also a nice treat for my entourage. Jenny was super nice and helpful, we had some laughs and she really caught my vision for what I was looking for in a dress. However towards the end, I felt a little pressured to purchase a dress I wasn't 100% certain of and their deadline was that I had to let them know in two days for the dress to come in on time which I thought was kind of crazy. I didn't end up make that kind of impulsive decision and I'm so glad because I found the most perfect dress elsewhere! read more

This was the worst experience ever! I do not recommend this store to anyone. I gave the consultant a list of dresses I had taken off of their website, she pulled me one of the 15. then proceeded to tell me that the others they did not have. She pushed the one dress on me and told me it was the last day I could order it and that they no longer carried any of the dresses I liked, and it would be the same everywhere. I put a deposit down as I had no choice...get one I sort of like, or end up with something I hate. I was not listened to at all, and was blatantly lied to for the duration of my appointment. Even my MOH had to pull the sales consultant aside to tell her to get with it, as I was almost in tears at being so frustrated. I later found out after some tears, that the dress I ordered was from 2011 (maybe she got higher commission) and that all the dresses on my list were in stock, as well as that I actually had about another month prior to my cut off date. Needless to say the bay doesn't care about customer service as I was in touch with them right after my appointment and I now have lost my hefty deposit. Horrible, just horrible! I would NEVER recommend Kleinfeld to anyone!! They received my dress back in April and didn't call me till the end of June to tell me it had arrived. My dress did not need a single alteration although they still managed to charge me $600 to sew on my belt; and it was also dirty in many different spots. Upon picking up my dress they told me to be there for a certain time, I am always on time and prompt, although they weren't. They took me half an hour late, and all for me to get home and find out that they gave me the wrong veil. They wanted me to drive all the way back Downtown to get the veil...Horrible experience, horrible customer service, over priced, and very tardy!!! read more

I visited this store in April 2015 for my wedding in January 2016. I'd only been dress shopping one other day but I did have a specific budget (under $2000) and dress style (mermaid with sleeves) I was looking for. The initial appointment experience was amazing - from the waiting area to the gallery where many of the dresses are on display. My consultant was great- I felt she really listened to what I wanted and gave some helpful advice. I told her what I was looking for and she left to find some samples. Meanwhile, my group and I hit the gallery for more options. There are so many options! I tried on a few dresses without any success but then my friend found one that I really loved (totally different than what I was looking for - corset with lots of lace, mermaid, lace shoulder straps). I looked and felt amazing in it! After that it was celebrating (champagne!) pictures and taking measurements. I had tried on a sample size 10, which was big in most areas and had to be clipped back. The dress ordered was a size 12, as I was told it would need to fit my hips better (I have 39" hips, 27" waist). Then they take you to sign the paperwork and make the deposit. I was so excited! Fast forward to November 2015 when my dress arrived and I went in for my first fitting. I was so surprised at how large the dress was - I tried it on and it felt like I was wearing curtains! I knew it would be big (size 12) but not like this! I forgot to mention that I did use the Kleinfeld seamstresses for alterations (total cost $800 for alterations plus $200 bustier). It took about 3 fittings to get the final dress, and I was really unhappy with the final product. The dress was STILL way too big around my hips and waist (it made me look bigger than I am). The straps constantly fell off my shoulder the whole wedding day. But the worst was the way the bust looked. This was a sweetheart corset and it ended up looking like I was wearing body armour. I think partly because the neckline somehow ended up being raised (NOT something I wanted, since I have small breasts I wasn't worried about cleavage) and the corset looked bulky because a bustier was sewn in. I was not told this would be needed ($200 additional expense) and I was told at the final fitting. I told the seamstress I didn't want it but she didn't listen. The result was atrocious. When I compare pictures of myself in the dress the first time vs my wedding day it looks completely different. While I understand that its not going to look 100% the same, I had high expectations for Kleinfeld due to reputation and the high $. Overall, I would recommend visiting the store, even purchasing a gown, but definitely NOT using their alterations service. read more

I was so excited about having the Kleinfeld experience and was so disappointed when it actually happened. After meeting our consultant, she took us through the gallery that probably had 6 dresses in my reasonable price range of $3000 and a ton of beautiful dresses I couldn't afford, we were brought to our room that already had dresses in it. She had disappeared while she left us to browse all the expensive dresses and pulled a bunch of gowns. When I started trying them on, my niece had to get up every time to straighten and fluff out the trains while the consultant stood beside me and watched. Then when I cried once I found my dress, she asked me the question, I answered, she brought Champaign then started with the sales pitch that did not stop. She was all over the 60% down and trying to sell me a HBC credit card. It ruined the experience. I couldn't even absorb the experience before she pushed and pushed. I said i needed to chat with my fiancée before spending the cash and she was like, we can call him right now and you can sign the contract and leave your credit card number and then call to confirm in the morning etc. She came up with every possible way to have a 60% down before I walked out the door. The pressure ruined everything and she didn't even bring out the second dress I came all to Toronto to try on!! I gave her two pictures of dresses I came there to try and she only brought out one. I asked a few times but she brought others. I would not recommend Kleinfelds. Its not what its cracked up to be. We went to another place afterwards and another mother/daughter there said they had the same experience as I did. The shop owner said she recommends going to Kleinfelds first, to her clients, because they always come to her afterwards so appreciative of her genuine personality and ready to buy any place other than Kleinfelds. read more

A seamstress named Amy who did not seem in her right mind (drugs..?) called me some choice words I'd rather not type on here and was very aggressive. I bought my wedding dress at Kleinfeld's yesterday and simply loved the experience! My consultant, Melissa, let my bridesmaids and I peruse the show room as she pulled dresses for me from the back. She was extremely attentive and listened well. The changing rooms are huge and the store is clean and bright. After trying on a few dresses that I had described to Melissa and not loving them, she pulled something completely different for me to try on. It turned out to the be the perfect dress. Since I'm getting married in less than 6 months, Melissa was very helpful in telling me which dresses would be available and which wouldn't, going so far as to make sure I would have the dress arrive in plenty of time for alterations (8 weeks before my wedding date). Everyone was friendly, helpful and polite. I was completely unaware of the time and never felt rushed or pushed - especially when it came to decision time. I highly recommend this shop -- and Melissa -- it was a wonderful experience. read more

Brides - do NOT waste your time or energy coming here. I am from out of town and will be having a wedding in Toronto. We hired a wedding planner and she advised me to find a dress on this trip to alleviate any stress of carrying the gown back and forth. I must say the place is breathtaking but the service was horrible. The consultant asked me to show her a photo of my favorite dress so far, she then proceeded to tell me what dress I was wearing in the photo, even though she was wrong, I didn't bother arguing. She then proceeds to ask my guests (future mother in law and sister in law) why they are emotionless. It made everyone feel very awkward and in my opinion was a very rude comment to make. I asked if she could keep my measurements on file, so if I were to fly back home and call, they would be able to order the right size. She told me no, I would have to fly again just for measurements. I can understand that it may be their purchasing procedure but at the end of the appointment, I asked her if she could write down my favorite dress name, she said yes and walked into the back office. I waited at the reception desk and she never came back out. The receptionist said she would email me the dress information. It has been a week and I have not yet heard from them. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I would recommend going to White Toronto, I received exceptional service there. read more
