Unfortunately, during our visit, both the food and service fell short. We started with the pork belly bites. They were okay, but the texture wasn't what we're used to--we typically prefer them cooked a bit more. We also ordered the crab cakes, which came as three large pieces on a bed of lettuce (basically a big house salad). After a few bites, we realized they were ice cold. We let the bartender know and they were sent back, but they came out ice cold again. To their credit, they removed the item from our bill, which we appreciated. We then ordered a burger. The patty was very thick and had potential, but the fries were ice cold. Service slowed at this point--it took a long time to get ketchup or any follow-up. We noticed staff eating in a booth behind us while two employees behind the bar appeared busy, which was disappointing. The beer selection is excellent, but my Dirty Shirley tasted off. I switched to a Tito's and Sprite, but it still didn't taste right--likely flat soda that hadn't been changed. Overall, the patio and beer selection are highlights, but the execution on food and service missed the mark on this visit. Based on this experience, I'd give it 2 stars. The interior is realitivly small compared to other sports bars, but I think their focus is on of providing great tasting pizza and other food. The prime rib was very good, the jumbo shrimp were about as big as I have ever seen and the salad bar is awesome. The salad bar was more of a pasta bar than salad as the usual accoutrement for salad wasn't there (croutons, cucumbers, bacon bits etc) but the homemade pasta selections were excellent. I had a crab bowtie pasta that was made with real crab rather than the fake stuff you would normally find in this part of the country. The prime rib was more medium than medium rare (I always order rare or medium rare) but had excellent flavor so no biggie. I had the hash browns and a fresh baked roll as well. All in all an excellent meal and a great value. There were a few other couples we were with who eat here religiously and they said everything else on the menu is just as tasty and excellent. The service was a tad slow but not enough to get upset about. They were a bit busy but not enough to explain the slower service. Sluggers is a hole-in-the-wall mid-sixties concrete block type of place (ie not impressive from outside), but they have really good char-burgers, steak sandwiches, Polish sausages--and an excellent selection of draft beers too--Guinness, Fat Tire, Boulevard, Blue Moon, Sam Adams. You can even get a bottle of VT hard cider, damn this place has it covered. A cool place to watch a game or play pool (2 tables) but it does a good lunch bizness and they are freakin friendly too.

On a Saturday the price is $1.50 per wing before 6pm, I happened to arrive at like 6:30 so was a little disappointed that I didn't make it in time. 6 wings were $10 but plus the salad was about $13.50 not including tax. Overall would return in a heartbeat from the prices and serving size alone in today's economy from what I saw on the rest of the menu.
