As a Flatbush native elder millennial I grew up going to Kings Plaza and it's a very weird thing to…read moredescribe to people who aren't familiar with its quirks. If you're expecting a huge mall with like in the burbs you're very likely to be disappointed. Kings Plaza has always had the DNA of a hood mall, and while it's never quite been an Albee Square in its heyday situation (iykyk), it's not super high end. It had its hidden gems though most have gone downhill (the Cookie House fell off as soon as they moved from the og kiosk to the actual store). Brick and mortar retail is struggling and this place is a great example. In recent years they have tried to get more upmarket and bring in better retailers, reflecting the rapidly gentrifying nature of Brooklyn as a whole. A series of renovations have made it more open and airy and it's looking way better than the dark and claustrophobic labyrinth it once was. But that hood DNA is still in it. Primark as an anchor is just a British version of Burlington Coat Factory if I'm honest. Sometimes you can find good stuff in there, but it's like treasure hunting, and like most big chain stores in this mall, it's a bit chaotic and understaffed compared to other locations. Selection is an issue at times with stores here because they're usually smaller than other locations. Like the Sephora is limited compared to its other Brooklyn stores. If you're trying to get popular staple brands you're probably fine, but more niche products or lines you're probably SOL. Similarly the Ulta location while very welcome is smaller and lacks variety of bigger ones. Even the Target is one of the smaller footprint stores and you're honestly better off hopping on the B41 bus outside and heading to the one at the Junction. The rowdy teen problem is very real though, and it's been an issue here for as long as I can remember. I worked summer jobs at Sears back when it was still the big anchor 30 years ago and remember a wilding incident where a huge bunch of teens came in stealing and running out. Closing the movie theater solved a lot of the issues (though I do miss ratchet talking at the screen lol) but not all of them, and TikTok makes it easier for bad actors to organize this type of foolishness. I do feel for kids because they really lack third spaces to hang out safely, like we haf as 90s teens. But they were doing this crap even back then. Security tries but like I said it's been decades of this type of behavior. And it's honestly what is holding Kings Plaza back, sadly. I have a lot of childhood nostalgia for this mall and I want it to be great but it keeps popping up in the local news for all the wrong reasons. Contrasting with the huge Albee Square to CityPoint transformation is crazy. But Marine Park and southern Brooklyn in general is just never going to gentrify the way Downtown Brooklyn did because it's too far from Manhattan and this area is a transit desert despite the mall being a major bus hub. Taken for what it is, it's a decent place to do pickups of online orders or browse for very basic things if you have patience. Just avoid it like the plague during after school hours.

The chocolate chip cookies I had at Kings Plaza remain the best chocolate chip cookies I ever experienced. The aroma of the chocolatey goodness wafted through the mall and by the time I got my little hands on the cookies, they disappeared in no time. They were decent sized cookies from what I remember, soft and with a ton of melty, gooey semi-sweet milk chocolate chunks distributed evenly throughout the whole cookie. If that cookie stand still exists, I would be more than happy to go out of my way and revisit Kings Plaza.

It's with a heavy heart I'm writing this review…read more This is solely on Primark's return policy and the aloof manager. I bought a coat here exactly one week ago (31st/Jan/2024) I was assisted by the lovely Shari. The first time I wore it all seemed fine. Then, with each step the buttons and zippers were becoming undone. I would refasten walk about four steps and same. As I was out, I stopped at a tailor who quoted me more than the $26 I paid for the coat. He quoted me $35 to fix it. Naaahhh, that makes no sense. I returned home for another coat and hung the broken one, planning to return it. I mean things happen, I got a faulty item, no biggie. It was not used again after this mishap. Couldn't be used. Today, 6th Jan, one week later, (first week of February 2024), I requested an exchange. I really liked the coat but, it was sold broken. I just wanted one that could be worn out. I told the cashier I wore it once and it started falling apart while wearing it. She checked with another cashier who informed us it couldn't be returned because the tag was off. I don't wear clothes with the tags still on them so of course the tag was off. However, I HAD the tag AND my receipt. Yes, I hold on to tags and receipts for a while. I asked the two cashiers if there was someone else I could speak with, ya know, plead my case. In comes the manager. He reiterated what the ladies said but was condescending about it. Not so much the BS he said, but how he said it. You had to have been there. Like I was trying to scam them. Like I was committing high treason against Primark. He informed me they couldn't exchange it because they wouldn't be able to sell it as it was worn. W H A T?!? But I just told you the fasteners aren't working. What do you mean you wouldn't be able to sell it? You absolutely shouldn't try to sell this unless you're giving a huge discount and FULL DISCLOSURE which I doubt. How you wanna sell me a damaged item but be upset with me for trying to return it? After he gave his lil speech, he mockingly asked, "IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE?" Then walked off. The young cashier looked embarrassed for him but I continued speaking with her pleasantly as I repacked my coat. It wasn't her fault. So now, do shoppers need to test their clothes on the street? Like, keep tags on while wearing it so they are allowed to return it if there's an issue? I feel like that's what you're saying. You're telling me if the tag was on, I would have gotten my lil exchange? Because I've exchanged items here without questions simply because the tag was on. He could have checked the coat and would have realized it wasn't worn. Couldn't be worn. If I wanted a robe I would have bought that. Aycaramba man! Eat my shorts! I'm done with Primark. **holds chest in agony** Some people always wanna mess shxt up. Joy-suckers. I've always had such a good thing with them too man. I'm hurt y'all. That's not the service I'm accustomed to at Primark. At all, at all. Isn't it sad when staff on the floor gives AMAZING SERVICE but a manager, A MANAGER is the one who messes your experience up? It wasn't about the money because **clears throat** it's Primark. I didn't want any money back. I just wanted the item I paid for last week to work... For a few months. Well until at least this week. Seems he's so full of himself, he cannot comprehend when situations need a different plan of action. All he had to do was properly inspect the coat, ensure it wasn't worn then make a managerial decision that I needed to be made whole again. I paid for a faulty coat. What's the big deal? Maybe he didn't have the authority to do so on the spot? I'll have the fasteners fixed and gift it to someone in need. So there's a positive in this. Hey you, do BETTER sir. And yes, "that's all." The End.

But I just don't get it when people rave about the opening of a foreign-owned or carpetbagging retail chain as if it's some major gamechanging establishment filling a massive hole in NYC retail. Primark is no better than Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls or the millions of local bargain basements that already exists here, particularly Telco, Bobby's Department Store or any of those stores that has "Discount" in its name. Arguably, I would even say that it's a massive downgrade. I've shopped for clothes for decades at bargain basements and I've never had quality control issues with them. I still have shirts and other items that I bought at places like VIM and Pretty Girl ages ago. Primark really puts the "F" in both Fast Fashion and the grade, F. My first purchase here were two pairs of tennis shoes, and they fall apart within six months in exactly the same way (the sole right under the ball of the foot). Even the super cheap shoes that I used to get at Payless or Parade (RIP) lasted longer than that. That's not to say that Primark is totally terrible. It's very hit and miss. Some of the accessories are good, but almost all of their inventory is interchangeable with other local bargain basements and big box stores, so I don't get what the fuss is all about. I bought a very nice combination wallet and ID holder there. I later lost it, went back to Primark, couldn't find it and was able to order a much better and nicer one online for the same price. I bought a faux leather jacket here, but only because I missed out buying an identical jacket at BJs. So, I dunno. Primark is maybe good for an impulse buy, but this wouldn't be my top choice for clothing. It's just OK.

Most of the stuff here has gone through a lot before even landing here at Marshall's. Now, onto the place itself. This I would have to say is much better than the Marshall's in Bensonhurst and Atlantic terminal. It is still new, just opened about a year and a half ago. It is clean and neat at times. I can say that it will be messy at times but the workers here always try to keep it as neat as possible. It's just that the people who shop here don't care and mess it up. They let their kids run around and play in the clothing and shoes we are about to purchase, so keep that in mind, it's not the stores fault. They do have a late night staff as well as early morning that sets everything up, so my recommendation is come early in the morning. As for the stock, I would say they have pretty good merchandise. I am the smallest size in clothing, small to point where many brands don't fit me, yet I can still find many things that fit me in this store. Their selection of shoes are also pretty good. Lots of party heels, flats, and boots. Of course, sometimes it takes a while to look for them because this section is one of the messiest which people obviously just throw shoes around. Not only being unkind to the store and it's merchandise but also those who shop after them. Anyhow, I've managed to score great work shoes here like a pair of black leather Vince camuto pointed heels for only forty dollars, which is a steal. They also offer food And home and bath accessories. It's not as large as many of the other TJ Maxxs and Home Goods are, especially in Manhattan, but this will suffice for a small corner of Brooklyn. The staff is also very hard working here. The only thing I dislike about this store is how crowded it gets during it's busy hours which is usually on weekends or after work. When the line gets crazy, boy does it get crazy. I'm not very patient, but again, this isn't the stores fault, it's just rush hour. Of course, Century 21 is more upscale and preferable among a lot of people, but if you live in sheepshead bay and don't feel like taking an R train all the way out to Bay Ridge or dealing with the busy and tourist filled FiDi century 21, then this will have to do- especially if you're looking for discounted merchandise.

I decided to take a new turn however when finally target team female representative came instead of paying attention to me she started taking care of another customer who came right after I took a new turn on a new line. I expressed my disappointment and called target phone number, feeling that it was too much, I had nothing to do with customers, It was about that there was only one target team representative there as a cashier... Female team member called another team member whose name was Mr Nelson.Mr Nelson instead of looking into my order accused me saying that I pointed at the customer which was "disrespectful", instead of acknowledging that I pointed at the customer showing that this young customer came after me and while I was ahead of him he was served first , I didn't know his name. Instead Mr Nelson, target team member told me that I should wait 2 hours after I placed order online, he didn't look at my order to see that it was already over 2 hours since order was placed online. instead immediately chose to reject me, accusing me in disrespecting somebody else who went ahead of me. I felt extremely disrespected because It was my turn. He ping ponged me to Mr Jeffrey who found out that my order was not ready because items were out of stock and he offered me to buy alternative( 6 bottles in a pack , price of which was more than 12 bottles on my order which cost me more , I bought 2 ) , but I needed, so I bought. Very frustrated and disappointed.
