Updating my review. I moved out a few months ago…read more The deposit charges were a bit on the high side, in my opinion: -They withheld $90 for misc. cleaning charges (after we spent hours cleaning the apartment.) -They withheld $28 to replace the drip pans. (more than market price) -They withheld $114.50 for carpet cleaning - probably illegal (see Elyse De Stefano v. Apts. Downtown page 13) -They also charged $75 to repair a countertop that I burned. It was my fault and I'm not really complaining, but Karen previously told me that she thought she could get it repaired for a lower cost. So about $300 out of the deposit for a 4br...probably decent for IC, but I thought it could have been cheaper. Here's why I'm still willing to give them a 5 star rating: -They were extremely friendly, helpful and professional throughout the lease. -Maintenance response was usually only a few hours for minor stuff. They care about the quality of the property, and , e.g., responded immediately when I noticed a leak in the laundry room. -Halfway through the lease one roommate went broke and announced that he was going to break the lease and not pay any more. Another roommate had to move out for personal reasons. Karen helped us to deal with subletting 2 rooms and eventually helped us negotiate a deal with the first roommate so we didn't have to take him to court over the rent. -Even after we've moved out, Rae-Matt still forwards mail. None of my previous landlords have done that for any length of time. -They never once charged a late fee even though we were late multiple times on rent. -Tons of other minor things throughout the year that I've forgotten by now. I'm still slightly bummed about the deposit, but I didn't really push it too much with Rae-Matt because I felt that they exceeded my expectations in so many other areas. I would definitely rent again.

FACT: Julie Dancer lists houses with one less bedroom than what has been assessed in the past and…read morethe future. She listed 1613 Prairie du Chien Rd. as a 2 bedroom home, was told it was in fact a 3 bd home, but kept it as a 2 bd. Then, she sold it to Jade Mgmt as a 2 bd then relisted it as a 3 bd 3 weeks later. John Quinto calls Julie Dancer a "rock star". Matt Hayek calls her "professional." John Quinto of MidwestOne has chosen to deal with Julie Dancer, a real estate agent. Quinto chooses to not put the interests of the estate he represents above the interests of Julie Dancer. Case in point, Quinto describes Julie Dancer as a "rock star". Yet, Julie Dancer double dips on estates Quinto represents. All of her actions are sanctioned by John Quinto and MidwestOne. Who knows what their cut is on her scheme. She lies to estates, depreciates the price, makes the estate pay for repairs but doesn't compensate, buys the house, cheaply and poorly completes cosmetic changes with Theresa Ralston of Jade Mgmt LLC, and then sells the houses at an inflated price to her monetary benefit. MidwestOne permits her to do this. Do not do business with her, Theresa Ralston, Lepic Kroeger, Matt Hayek, or MidwestOne.

They took us to neighborhoods all over the city, were very knowledgable about different areas of the city and, as we found later, provided very unbiased and accurate assessments of different parts of town. The majority of the folks who work here have lived in the area for a long time and have a good idea of what's going on, what places are being built up and where is best to avoid. They were flexible on when we met and once we got things moving, got the work done in quick fashion. We were hooked up with a number of banks and were able to shop around for the best place to get our loan thanks to these guys. We've recommended them to a number of friends and will continue to do so. We worked with Mike Van Dyke and he made the otherwise stressful experience of buying a house, as low stress as it could have been!
