BEST Euro Deli award goes to...Vienna Fine Foods!…read more This long-standing family-run European Delicatessen is like a small taste of Europe in Toronto! It's almost 70 years old and one of the oldest European delis in the city. A breath of fresh air, sweetened with nostalgia, that transports you to a Euro style deli in the heart of Scarborough. Their main attraction is their high quality deli food, magnificent imported cheeses, charcuterie deli meats, freshly baked buns, baguettes, rye bread, European specialty food items (jars of pickles, preserves, spreads, soup mixes, dumplings, imported chocolates and candies, and magazines to name a few). Hungry patrons frequent their phenomenal hot food counter, specializing in home style authentic German, Polish, and Austrian foods. Hot takeaway lunch menu at "Little Imbiss" includes Schnitzel (fried breaded pork cutlet), home fries, knackwurst (sausages), sauerkraut, Hungarian goulash, daily soups (creamy mushroom is a personal fave). Walking inside you're instantly transported to an idyllic place, a home away from home. No wonder their hot food lunch counter is nicknamed "Little Imbiss" - Imbiss is a German word for a snack place often a small family-run food stand or street food shop. They have a deli meats counter where you can buy cold cuts, salads, meats, sausages, charcuterie, cured meats, European and Canadian cheeses. A bakery section where you'll find freshly baked baguettes, buns, and rye bread, pumpernickel bread. As well as imported European chocolates, marmalades, pickles, crackers, potato dumplings mixes. But really, this place wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for their loyal customers, excellent owners-managers and their friendly staff. Family-owned for almost 30 years; the co-owner's father was an excellent trained chef who worked at an exclusive Toronto country club known as the Granite Club and wanted to give people a taste of Europe. For the past 30 years his family has honoured his lifetime dream of bringing people a taste of Europe in Canada by providing top tier service and quality food to the community. I once witnessed the staff really take the time to go out of their way to assist an elderly man who needed help with finding his groceries. She patiently walked around the store speaking to him in German and helped the gentleman with a smile on her face. The kindness that I've witnessed here is also what makes it so memorable. This wonderful deli will always have a special place on my heart!

My favourite deli for Polish and Hungarian sausage, but they don't seem to care about the health…read moreand safety of their customers. Stopped in for a link of sausage this afternoon. The woman behind the meat counter was wearing a mask, but it was useless, as her nose wasn't covered. I turned to my right, and a barefaced man one metre from me was looking at meats. I mentioned the face mask bylaw to him. He ignored me, as did staff. At checkout, the woman on cash wore a mask, but her nose was fully exposed. I asked her to tell the manager that I won't be shopping there any more and the reason for my decision. I didn't feel safe. We're in a pandemic. And no one seemed to care.

I visited this place on Saturday, and it was my first time purchasing an item there. I looked…read morearound the store for some junk food first before moving into their deli section. For some of the chocolates, crakers, etc. that I looked at it was difficult to discern what it was or tasted like. Many of the junk foods had pictures, but as they deal largely with imported European foods, the packages don't always have English on them - they often do, but not always. I settled on some crackers that said graham on them, but afterwards when I opened them up they didn't look or taste anything like our traditional western graham crackers. They didn't taste bad, but I include this point to signify the usefulness of English on the packages. I also purchased 200g of cheese. I couldn't read the languague on any of the cheeses so I asked a lady to pair a good cheese with my crackers... yes, I asked for a good cheese pairing with my graham crackers. I got some sheepish looks but given my question I think it was fair. I got 200g of a mild cheese and it tasted pretty good. I didn't recognize any cuts of meats that were chicken or turkey and so I didn't explore any of those offerings. It seemed like this was the busiest part of the store. If you don't speak the language many of the ladies use (I didn't recognize it) they do speak English and are helpful. I left with my cheese, graham crackers, some Sesame Snaps candy and the cost was a little over $8. Not bad considering 2 of the 3 items bought were imported.

Small store, no fluff, simple diner style feel. Their smoked meat sandwich is simple yet so…read moredelicious. I'm sure the preparation that goes into smoking this meat is not simple at all. But this place has perfected it! Who knew perfectly cooked smoked meat in between slices of untoasted rye bread and a small amount of mustard would be such a dreamy combination. Montreal smoked sandwiches can be found in our very own backyard here at Sumilicious. The poutine is everything you want it to be! Was so impressed with the place, we decided to order a whole turkey for thanksgiving..it was alright, don't think we will be doing that again though. You pay by the pound after the meat has been cooked so it shrinks in size but still ends up being quite expensive. But I will stay the staff care so much about their products. They take great pride in what they make from the smoked meat to the turkey. Upon picking up the turkey, took the time to give me specific care instructions on how to store and reheat the bird. Come check out Sumilicious.

Amazing Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich!…read more Sumilicious is my favourite place for Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich! I highly recommend ordering their Smoked Meat Sandwich (~$17). The smoked meat tasted fresh, tender, and succulent and pairs well with mustard. I personally ask for extra mustard. If you're very hungry and can eat a lot, Small Plate of Smoked Meat (~$26) is perfect too, which includes enough smoked meat, slices of bread, and mustard packets for 1.5 sandwiches. I also love their Jar of Regular Pickles (~$7)! If you like pickles, their pickles pairs well with the Smoked Meat. Service is quick and isn't that busy during lunchtime. Good amount of seating available. Prices may be a tiny bit expensive but the quality of their Smoked Meat is great!
