Upon being taken back to the room I was shocked how big the place was, like a maze! If you're look for a traditional "spa" experience, this is not your place but not in a bad way! The rooms are very casual with chalkboards and a small area to place your things. The lights remain on throughout the session and you can definitely hear chatter from other rooms. I didn't mind but just know this going in if you do like the quiet serene spa experience. Nicole was my masseuse and she was lovely! The technique they used to heat up the body and really get into the tissues is great. I wanted her to focus on my upper back and neck area since that's where I've had a lot of tension and I left feeling like a new person. My entire body hurt, I needed relief STAT, and their sign caught my attention. I looked them up online, loved the prices and the fact that I could book an appointment online, and decided to give them a shot. For my first visit, I booked the 20-minute chair massage + 40-minute foot massage combo. Both were good and my appointment started right on time. I did find it a little bizarre to have a towel placed over my eyes for the entire foot massage, but I suppose I can survive being off my phone for 40 minutes. Overall, a really good first experience, especially for the price. I went back a few days later for a 30-minute chair massage and OH MY WORD. So. Good. My shoulders and back were absolutely wrecked from moving and this was exactly what I needed. The second visit did have some hiccups, though. I had booked online several hours in advance, but when I arrived, both of their chair massage chairs (there are only two) had been given to walk-ins. I ended up waiting almost 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment. They offered to switch me to a body massage for the same price, but that wasn't what I had booked or wanted, and they seemed a little annoyed when I declined. Once my chair massage finally started, there were also several interruptions while the employees were speaking pretty angrily to each other. At one point I actually poked my head up because I wasn't sure what was happening or whether I should just leave. Whatever was going on eventually settled down enough for my massage to continue, and apparently my massage therapist decided to channel ALL of that energy directly into my shoulders and back because GOOD LORD. In the absolute best way. He worked out so many of the knots from moving that I could have happily stayed in that chair for several more hours. One thing worth knowing before you go: as several other reviewers have mentioned, the language barrier can be pretty significant. Communication beyond things like "strong," "light" and "thank you" can be difficult. It's certainly workable, but it made some of the confusion during my second visit harder to navigate. The online payment process is also a little unusual. When you book online, you pay the full cost of the service upfront as your "deposit." After the massage, you enter your tip separately as a new sale while they bypass the normal tip screen. It was confusing the first time, especially combined with the communication barrier, but now that I understand how their system works, it'll be much easier next time. And there WILL be a next time. Overall, TL Foot Spa offers really good massages at very reasonable prices, and I definitely plan to go back. Now that I understand some of their processes and quirks, I know more of what to expect. The appointment delay, communication challenges and somewhat chaotic second visit are what keep me from giving five stars, but the actual massages have been excellent and my moving-destroyed shoulders are very grateful I happened to drive past that sign.

I work out a lot, 5 days a week with heavy iron and I'm a pretty big guy. She ever seems tired and always gives me incredibly full attention. I find it a very personal thing to get a massage and feel uncomfortable if I don't have a rapport or enjoy the therapist. Timberely and I could talk for hours or have silence and not ever seem uncomfortable. She is a very unique individual and I enjoy going to her her immensely.

Holy cow. My muscles didn't know what hit them. After that brief introduction to Thai massage, I decided I wanted to try out the real deal. So my search led me to Yelp, which led me to Mark Bonus. First of all, his name. How cool is his name? When you meet him in real life, you immediately begin to question your lifestyle and wonder how can you become more like Mark. He is zen. He is peaceful. He is calm. I adore his aura. Then, there is the massage. It's soothing and therapeutic. I felt like a giant blob that Mark was molding and putting back together. I never want to get up from the mat after he is done. So, the first time I visited, I opted for the 60 minute Thai massage. It is not enough time. On my subsequent trips, I've booked 90 minute sessions, which gives him more time to focus on my problem areas. I believe most Thai massage therapists generally recommend at least 90 minutes, so keep that in mind if you decide to book, which I highly, highly, suggest you do. Your body will thank you.

I spent 2.5 hours with this man and not only did I love his home, love the sacred space he created for massage, and have a great time getting to know him, I left knowing more about my body. I also left walking straighter and taller than ever before. He's incredibly attentive to parts of your body that are tight, for me it was my hips. Which he stretched and massaged in every which way and they felt better for days. This wasn't just a massage, it was a lesson in body mechanics. I learned about pain/tightness usually occurring on diagonals (sore left shoulder, tight right hip, etc.). He massaged the front part of my shoulder, my pecs, which most people forget/don't work on. Most of us spend our life hunched forward in some way - at a computer, hunched back, etc., so its incredibly important to massage a muscle and joint from the front and back. I kinda knew this, but Bonus cemented it. He also taught me a killer massage for the front of my hip flexors, which almost made me want to puke, but I felt like I got new hips. There's nothing to think about. This man is amazing, so go get a massage from him. Oh and sassy miss waxy, his lovely partner, is pretty rad too so take care of that if you need. Hopefully I'll be back in Austin soon or I'll clone Bonus and bring him to SF. Side note: I'm not sure if anyone reading this is nervous about a male masseuse, but let me assure you, you have nothing to worry about.
