Mine took around 8 visits. It included: 1) keeping air filters from my old unit (when I told them I wanted one at the unit), it caused the unit to not cool; 2) they replaced my thermostat 3 times that I bought new; 3) the filter they did install at the unit was too big then they had to order "custom" air filters to fit it properly, 4) blocking my filter door opening with pipes from the ac unit. Their price was high and I had to get it done quickly because I had renters. Had I known it was going to take a about a year to get the installation done right, I never would have hired them in the first place. My electric bills are higher for an energy-efficient unit than my old unit. Cody came back several times until I asked them to send someone else who is now working corporate air conditioning. They don't have enough quality technicians to service -- especially for the price you pay. They are polite, but that does not make up for proper skills to do HVAC work.

He went to work and a half hour later, we were good to go. Been living here for 30 years and have been through many air conditioning companies but Rapture Air is THE BEST! After two days they found an issue, repaired it, and then reported to the company that everything was fine. However, the air handler has continued leaking. According to the technician, everything was fine based on the Freon levels, but he did not allow enough time for the system to run and confirm whether the issue was actually resolved. It seems that my air conditioner still has the same problem, but they told the company that paid for the repair that everything was fixed. Now the company does not believe me, and Rapture wants to charge me to return to my home: $100 for the first 30 minutes and then $50 for additional time. This seems like they care more about money than about the customer being affected. They repaired a valve that was leaking on the outside central AC unit, and this was during winter when there was no humidity. However, the air handler inside is still leaking. This means they fixed one issue, but the real problem was not resolved. Unfortunately, they were not able to help me properly.

I am writing to formally express my serious concern and disappointment regarding the HVAC system…read moreinstalled at my property by Roosters. At the time of purchase and installation, I was verbally assured that I would be receiving a Tier 1 Carrier HVAC system. Based on that representation, I agreed to proceed and paid the full amount requested. I relied entirely on the verbal description provided, as no written documentation specifying brand or model tier was given to me at the time of sale. It has now come to my attention--while reviewing documentation during tax preparation nearly a year later--that the unit installed is a Bryant system, not a Tier 1 Carrier unit as promised. While I understand that Bryant is manufactured by Carrier, it is widely recognized in the industry as a Tier 2 product line. This is not what was represented to me when I made my purchasing decision. Had I been clearly informed that the installed unit would be Bryant rather than a Tier 1 Carrier system, I would have reconsidered the purchase, negotiated the price accordingly, or explored other contractors. I feel misled and taken advantage of, especially given the significant financial investment involved. This situation has caused me to question the transparency and integrity of the sales process. As a customer, I expect clear, accurate, and documented representations when making major home improvement decisions. Instead, I received only a total amount due and a verbal description that did not match the product ultimately installed.

I am an HVAC technician in Austin, Texas. My mother lives in Altoona. She called me a few days…read moreago (5 June 2015) because her AC quit working. She described a few of the symptoms over the phone and I made a loose diagnosis based on what she was telling me. She said she was going to call Harris AC because they installed it. I said okay, but I asked her to call me when the AC guy was there so I would know what the issue was. Fast forward to Friday, 5 June 2015. Harris sent a technician out and gave her his diagnosis. She called me to let me know everything was okay. I asked what he found and what he was doing to fix it. She relayed the information she was provided, "The coil is frozen the guy said, and he is adding some Freon right now." I asked, "How long has he been there?" She told me less than 15 minutes. Friends and neighbors, that is bad. It takes more than 15 minutes to thaw a frozen coil, and charging a unit when it is frozen is a guaranteed way to over charge the unit. This is HVAC 101. I got on the phone to tell the guy to not add any refrigerant and asked him some very technician specific questions about his trouble-shooting procedures. As a supervisor and a 15 year technician I can tell you without a doubt that he made up his answers. That's fine, one bad tech doesn't mean a bad company. I made a phone call to Harris and asked to speak with the Service Manager. The person that answered made the mistake of defending his actions as common practice stating, "We normally add a couple of pounds to a frozen system to get them by until we can return." By this point you're thinking, "What's the big deal with a couple of pounds of refrigerant?" Well, in this case the refrigerant is R-22 which is currently being sold to the customer at rates exceeding 25 dollars a pound. I asked for the owner to call me back, and I have yet to hear from them. To make matters worse, he told my mother at noon on Friday that the wouldn't be able to get back until possibly Wednesday, he told me late Monday, and the "Service Manager" in the office essentially told me my mother and I were lying about that. So why is this relevant to a review on Independent Air? Well, I decided that since Harris couldn't be bothered to call me back and explain what happened, I decided to look for a HVAC company myself. I called Independent Air in Eustis and talked with their dispatch/receptionist and EVNE SHE KNEW NOT TO CHARGE A FROZEN SYSTEM. They had a technician out next day, Edgar I believe. He was a very knowledgeable technician that was able to answer every question I had. My Mom is back up and cooling, and I have comfort knowing that Independent Air will be going back out anytime there is an issue. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone in the area, and as a supervisor, I would hire anyone with Independent Air on their resume.
