Walking into the lobby was our first sign that we should have left immediately. The overwhelming odor was impossible to ignore and honestly made us gag. Unfortunately, because it was late and we were exhausted, we tried to make the best of it. We were traveling with two cats and specifically chose this hotel because it advertised itself as pet-friendly. Upon check-in, we were informed that they only have one room dedicated to cats, which is something that should be clearly disclosed before booking. That room, however, was in extremely poor condition. The smell in the room was just as bad as the lobby--strong, stale, and unbearable. We tried to tolerate it, but it quickly became too much. We went back to the front desk to ask for another room or a refund, and both were denied. The only solution offered was an air freshener, which did nothing to address the underlying issue. I have stayed at many hotels that allow cats, and there is no logical reason a room or lobby should smell this bad. Being pet-friendly does not mean sacrificing basic cleanliness. I would not stay here again and strongly recommend looking elsewhere, especially if you're traveling with pets or arriving late with limited options.

Shannen helped us out for a last minute hotel room and was extremely friendly and helpful. Kevin was all smiles at 6am, friendly, attentive and helped us out this morning. I didn't get the maintenance man's name but he was so nice and polite as well. Room was super clean and had everything you needed and beds were comfortable. Breakfast had great choices and was fully stocked even after the huge crowd at 6am. I highly recommend to anyone driving through and need a place to sleep.

We had business meetings in North Platte and stayed at the Fairfield Inn for three nights. We have…read morestayed here before and were pleased to see that the property is undergoing an overdue facelift. Since we make frequent trips to North Platte we welcome the slight inconvenience of ongoing construction for the prospect of a clean, fresh hotel. What we want to mention is the service we received from the front desk team. After a couple days of walking around a coal-fired power plant, beef processing facility, ethanol plants, and cattle feedlots our clothes were pretty dirty. We had a dinner on our last night with local and state leaders so we thought it best to get our clothes washed. The property laundry room is located on the second floor which is where the current construction is taking place. The washer works fine but the dryer was down for the count. We were expected in less than an hour at North 40 Steak House for dinner with the North Platte mayor, two Nebraska senators, and business leaders (including the Fairfield property owner!) from the greater North Platte area. All of our clothes were soaking wet. The manager took our laundry and ran it through the hotel commercial dryers which are high speed and got things sorted in about 20 minutes. Not only were our clothes dried but the staff returned them to us folded and on hangars! We arrived for our dinner on time in freshly laundered clothes that were free of coal dust, cattle manure, beef blood, and corn mash. Day saved. Thank you to Matt, the Fairfield General Manager, for offering an effective solution! PS - We also want to mention Lisa who runs the breakfast. She ensures everyting is fresh and stocked and personally greets everyone dining in her restaurant! Great service needs to be acknowledged!

Around 9pm at night a random person tried to enter our room with a key. (There is no safeguard to stop anyone entering) I sent my husband to the door to confront the person. They ran. I went downstairs to ask what was going on. The person at the front desk said "oops, oh look here is the the 2nd key to your room". They gave out a key to two different people for the same room. No apologies, not to me or the other person. We got no sleep wondering if anyone else had a key to our room or if anyone was going to show up and just open the door with a key given to them by the front desk. I will never stay here again. This is the only time I've ever had someone open my hotel door with a key and say it's their room. The biggest disappointment was that we didn't even get an apology from the front desk. No guarantee that no one else would try to enter our room. Nothing. My husband and I took shifts to guard the door because we didn't know who else may have given a key to our hotel room.

They provide a heat-and-serve free breakfast like other hotels these days, but it was below average. Frankly anything that was heated was uninspired and not very good. Couple tips: they don't have an elevator, so get a room on the main floor if you can't handle carrying your bags up a flight of stairs. Also, if you're a late sleeper don't count on your room being cleaned. We left late morning, found our room wasn't cleaned by that evening, and were told housekeeping "makes their final round late morning". But they did bring us some towels and apologized. At over $100 per night it's a little pricey but the nicest place you'll find around the area.
