A skateboard was left in my room and I was told to use it, no supervision or advice. I was billed £139 for a view of the skateboard I didn't request or want. Having had a poor service from physio on a knee op six years earlier I had arranged for competent physiotherapy outside the UC. At no point did I sign for the service or was advised that I would receive a chargeable service. Needless to say I won't be paying and will forward the issue to my solicitor. To rub salt into the wound UC want to charge me for crutches which I had from my previous knee surgery. I begin to understand to meaning of the "Till on the hill" label. Parking anywhere nearby was a nightmare particularly with the extensive on - street roadworks that never seem to ever end. I was kept waiting 20 minutes beyond my appointment time without any acknowledgment or apology and this was despite the fact I'd been fasting for 5 hours. So by the time I got into the polo mint MRI contraption I was very far from impressed and a tad testy - this is private medical and the administration is shoddy. I was within 20 minutes. I held breath 10 times for between 15 and 20 seconds each time. I had headphones on to hear the stop breathing instructions from the radiographer and piped music in - between. A radio station. Once done I was told the results would go back to my consultant in 5 days. I had phoned them earlier in the morning to check which place I had to go as I didn't get the promised letter. I held on the call for 25 minutes before a human spoke. I told her I'd been holding a long time but she said 'oh you came through on the NHS referral number not the private patient one'. I was almost lost for words. A two tier private medicine service and I've no doubt the NHS is paying handsomely for this crap attitude to ill people. So I was then put through on the private patient line and only waited 8 minutes for a matter that took 12 seconds to complete. The most galling thing is we have a perfectly good NHS but it's being deliberately starved of resources by a lunatic Tory dogma for 13 years. They remain happy to pay 3/4 times the cost, using our tax pounds, to the private sector to undermine and destroy public medicine while the private sector donates to the Tory party and the boards of these places are populated by Tory supporters. The sooner all these bastards are sent packing the better.

It's obvious too just looking around the unit we were in that the deadly cutbacks are incredibly savage. As we left in the lift from level 9 an elderly lady, barely able to stand got in at level 5. She had a small carry case and a walking stick. She was tearful telling us that she had been kept in, prepared for surgery and shortly before she was to be operated on it was pulled as they 'needed a specialist'. Apart from the obvious questions and sheer waste of a scarce valuable resource how could this be allowed to happen to vunerable people but it's a story we hear all too often. She had no idea when she will be called back so she'll have to continue to live in acute pain seemingly until the 12th of never.

The hospital is a mixture of old and new buildings set in a beautiful open woodland area . The older buildings have that wonderful solid but austere impression from the Victorian era . There has been a lot of renovation done over recent years to bring these buildings up to safety standards.The new buildings fit in well with the old and clearly give the onlooker the confidence that behind the doors there is equipment and staff fully trained for the specialist care that this hospital has to offer. Although the waiting lists for orthopaedic operation is sadly longer than we want this is not the fault of the specific hospital and staff are understanding of this . The overall care and success rate is good and thanks to the thorough pre assessment examination there are very few problems including risk of infection. It is very reassuring to know that we still have the best health service with specialist areas like that which Musgrave Park Hospital can provide.

The hospital is widely known as being the place you go to for any major orthopaedic surgery. My mum…read moreattended Musgrave for spinal surgery and still attends follow up consultations there. Its a bit of a maze to drive around but there's loads of parking and pick up spaces by the entrance. The hospital is fairly old now and hopefully in the future there will be more development and investment in it. Excellent staff.

I was invited to a UK children`s ward where children were taken daily over forty miles to Specialist hospital in London, many were not expected to last the day, I was moved by the professional care that was shown. Doctors and nurses have been underpaid for years and I feel sure that having been treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast, I speak for the thousands of patients when I say a big thank you for all who have been treated and discharged and are now living at home sharing family life and enjoying the quality of life that is attributable to the great nursing care from the Royal Dr Rosaleen Rogers Glengormley

Unlike other reviewers I did not give birth here, just clearing that up! Although I did go here for…read morean X-ray and my experience couldn't have been more positive. First up, logistics. This hospital is really easy to get to, just off the Antrim Road and Westlink - accessible from all parts of the City and beyond. The parking situation is great - I parked in the main car park just behind the main building of the hospital and it was only £1. The hospital itself is easy to navigate - I had to go to level four and as soon as I walked in I was able to see the signs. I reported to the reception 20 minutes early and in contrast to other reviewers I was seen straight away and was out of there within 15 minutes. Bish, Bash, Bosh - simple! There's a wee shop at the entrance and a cash machine right opposite - please note the car parking machines only take cash so you'll more than likely have to us it. A really pleasant experience for a hospital. There's a lot of different departments here and of course there's an A&E department.
