For a middle of no where eatery ... it was ok. On a warm day the place only could provide minimal A/C with a portable unit. Humidity was high though there was a dehumidifier off to the side not running. Now the food - thought that a pulled / chopped chicken sandwich would be good , not so. Server disappeared so we couldn't really send it back, I ate it (wife did not). It was OK. Prime rib was a bit dry and not super flavorful. Portion size was pretty small for the price. When I informed them they messed up the order (so they could avoid it in the future) I got... a pretty lackluster sorry (server was still AWOL). Waited forever to get the check (even though the family had left and I was clearly waiting to leave). Maybe they were just understaffed (was not crazy busy)? Kids enjoyed the chicken baskets which were a good value for the money. Anyways, we won't be back. Ambiance was north woods dive bar. We waited 20 minutes to get waited on then ordered. They were very busy and staff seemed to be doing a great job serving and bringing food. After an hour wait for our food. The people behind us who came in significantly after us. The other people had left after we came in, they cleaned the table seated the new pet and they got their food. I can't help but wonder if because we weren't both white or we weren't drinking if that was the reason? Let's just hope they lost our ticket! Either way 1 1/2 hours of waiting and no food. We were looking for a new spot in the Park Rapids area, and ventured north to give this one a try. The food was delicious, made from scratch, and reasonably priced. It was really loud, and the decor was uninspired. It had more of a cafeteria feel than a relaxing dinner spot. Slight tweaks could make it really stand out. read more

But our waiter (Kennedy) paid absolutely no attention to us. Forgot to take our order (???). Didn't bring soup and salad before the main course. Never refilled drinks or asked how our food was. Did that waiter thing where they look down whenever you try to get their attention. Didn't bring the bill (had to ask the host/bartender). I won't go back. I'm kind of a connoisseur of walleye sandwiches, and the sandwich I had at Knob & Kettle might be the best ever. The bun was fluffy but with a crisp outside, the fish was light and flaky and not over-fried, and the tartar sauce was made in-house. The fries were perfect, and my fiancé's homemade tomato basil soup was stellar. The service was friendly and speedy, and literally the only thing that wasn't perfect was that the drinking water smelled funny. We tossed it and had a local Bemidji IPA. No regrets read more

We stopped for dinner after a day at Itasca state park. We were greeted quickly by the owner. He was very friendly. He got our drinks quickly. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer. They were beer battered and the whole spears! Hot, tasty and delicious. I'm kind of a friend pickle addict and these were some of the best I've had. I ordered the French dip with fries, my husband got the spicy prime rib sandwich with onion rings. Our older daughter got the hamburger basket with fruit and younger got the grilled cheese with fruit. The prime rib and spicy prime rib was juicy and delicious with the right amount of pink. The fries were beer batter and so hot and delicious. Same for the onion rings. Both our girls got fresh sliced watermelon with their sandwiches which they loved! So good! Will definitely be back next time we are up this way. Our daughters entertained themselves playing foos ball and next thing we knew they were playing with the owners daughter as well. read more

Walked in expecting a typical northern Minnesota bar, but was pleasantly surprised to see a nice dining room area. No antlers in their decorating, at least. The food came fairly quickly. My wife had the walleye, which was nicely grilled and tasted good. I ordered the queen sized prime rib and took half home. The "mashed potatoes" were actually Parmesan mashed potatoes, which I wouldn't have ordered had I known. What a gem of a find. Very close Itasca State Park. Stopped in for lunch. The menu is extensive with lots of choices. Had the ribeye sandwich special with their homemade fried mushrooms. The food was great and it was a nice enough day to sit outside. Several covered tables and picnic tables for outside seating. Our server, Heidi, couldn't have been nicer! They have a full bar.
