Oh , Clancy. You started off strong but petered out early. We were looking forward to our meal in the lakehouse restaurant, charmed by the rustic decor and multitude of taxidermied critters on the walls. We ordered curds and beer (as one should) which were delivered promptly by a friendly server. The curds were hot and delicious, and we had a Drekker red ale, a War Pig hazy IPA and a Bemeji pale ale -- all excellent! 5 stars if we had left at that moment. We ordered our entrees, and waited....and waited.... Friendly server began avoiding eye contact. Uh oh. One hour and 15 minutes later, after several pointed prompts, our food was delivered. Broasted chicken platter was delivered with wrong components (dark meat and mashed potatoes instead of white meat and Cole slaw). Two plates had regular fries instead of "fresh cut fries". Two burgers were extra well done. Walleye sliders and onion rings were good. No explanation was provided for the delay, though our server was highly apologetic. We inferred there was an issue in the kitchen -- maybe overwhelmed by the number of diners? Or someone didn't show up for work? The manager in duty did make amends via a % credit on the check. We are visitors to the area and our local hosts who dined with us said they had previously had a good experience at Clancy's. Based in our combined experiences, I recommend Clancy's for a beer and appetizer, but odds aren't great for dinner. read more

Clancy's has a great spot right on the lake. The inside is casual and inviting. They also have outdoor seating and events they put on. There are only about 3-4 dining options in and around the lake so Clancy's is usually busy. That's the good stuff. Unfortunately the food does not impress. We ordered 2 fish and chips. What we got were decent fries and 4 tiny fish nuggets. We paid $17. For each order. I was shocked when we got these tiny little fish nuggets when we're right here on the lake where fish is bountiful. I was so disappointed. I gave one star for the location and one star for the nice guy that took our order. But that's all I got. Clancy's need to focus on improving the quality of food on their menu. Sadly, I don't think I will go back. read more

You guys have to come on over to this place! As soon as we walked in we felt like part of their crew. Not only did the staff greet us, but some of the customers did as well. This place has a wonderful community vibe and you will leave having made new friends (there is also a "quiet side" of the restaurant you can sit at if you'd prefer to be left alone instead). Andy was our server and he was absolutely amazing. Can't say enough good things about the guy. He was just and all around good guy and is one of the reasons the restaurant feels like going over to your friend's house for a hot dish. He was friendly, attentive, fantastic at his job, and took the time to make us feel right at home. The food was awesome. Hubby got a burger and tots and I got the wings and a salad. All fantastic. Stopped in here for a late lunch. Very quiet when we got here but filling up when we left. Very great view of the lake from the patio. My partner really enjoyed the fish and chips. I had the brisket burger. It was really tasty and very large. Our server was very good and helpful. Definitely a good experience. read more

Heard about this from a local-the view alone is worth the stop! We opted to eat on the patio under an umbrella table-just so we could admire the view of Island Lake! Excellent service from our waitress today! I picked the Walleye Fish & Chips - crispy crinkle fries with lightly breaded walleye pieces. The Brisket Burger with Clancy Chips was amazing -smokey, moist & tender brisket on the burger! Reasonably priced for the quality of food! Great brews on tap! read more

Great atmosphere. One server remembered my son from months prior. She remembered his entire order and that fact it was his 13th Birthday. This go-around the food was sub-par. Ribs Dinner ($23) tasted like those served at an elementary school cafeteria. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken ($18)looked bland and possibly microwaved. It was a 4-5 oz piece. Our 2 Walleye Dinners ($25/each) were one frozen filet each. The garlic mashed potatoes were real potatoes but had NO garlic. They were room temperature and average at best. Au gratin potatoes were covered in Cheese Wiz. YUCK!!! Corn of the cob looked liked it had been sitting in water all day and was not hot either. Salad bar had a mystery cold Ramen noodle salad on it. Inedible. Nor were we allowed to order an all dark 4pc chicken dinner. We've been here previously with a completely different experience. This time was horrible!! read more

I remember Vacationaire Resort growing up, and Clancy's is a great spot to get drinks and dinner. We got a spot by the windows looking out on the lake, and after some adjustment to the curtains got a nice view of the lake and the sunset. We started off with some beers, luckily happy hour was still going on. Had the Cheese curds for an appetizer and they were good. I had the walleye dinner and my wife had the walleye sandwich. Both were very good and delivered hot and perfectly cooked. We've been coming here for a few years now, and always try and have a couple meals when we're in town. Folks are friendly, beer is cold, and they usually have some good daily deals and specials that hit the spot too. We'll be back for sure. read more

Clancys on Island Lake is our favorite place to go in Park Rapids! All the food is fabulous and they have specials every night. The atmosphere is old school up north cabin supper club vibe with a spectacular lake view. The staff and owners are so fun and friendly. My boyfriend and I were visiting the Park Rapids area this past weekend and heard Clancy's was the place for a great prime rib dinner. It did not disappoint! We both ordered the prime rib special (Saturday's only). The ribeye's were MASSIVE and cooked perfectly. We also got baked potatoes, green beans, soup and a trip to the salad bar. We even tried the walleye fingers... It was all fantastic. Kathy, our server, was AMAZING! She was so sweet and hospitable, kept our drinks full and made sure we were enjoying every bit of our Clancy's experience. The view of the lake was breathtaking. The restaurant/bar was really cool and a fun place to enjoy a night out. If we ever frequent Park Rapids again, we will definitely be back! read more

Inviting location. Nice atmosphere and we enjoyed our time at the bar with the staff. Food was a mixed bag. I had the broiled walleye and my wife the Philly Sandwich. My walleye came with broccoli cheese soup which was totally worthless and with acceptable garlic mashed potatoes. Walleye was perfectly cooked. Not the best I've had but it was good. My wife's sandwich came with french fries which were the most tasteless fries I've ever eaten. The Philly was also less than memorial. read more

We had our Sky Manor Aero Club annual meeting at Clancy's. They set us up in their side dining area. This gave us a great area to conduct our meeting. They had a salad bar/hot entrée buffet that accommodated/fed 26 people very nicely. It even included dessert. And the broasted chicken IS THE BEST! We had our North Country Trail spring meeting with 44 attending. It worked fine - we had a big salad bar and chicken, ham, baked & mashed potatoes, and green beans for a buffet - both were great. We had a Powerpoint slide show presentation and were able to pull the shades and see the slides well. The staff were helpful and easy to work with. I'm happy the planning committee chose Clancy's to host my high school reunion this summer as I am sure it will run smoothly. read more

I enjoy eating at this place been there a couple times and id keep going there. I love to eat so this would be good for a date night

Three things: 1. Smoke--this place obviously allowed smoking for decades and even though it is non-smoking now, there is a literal stench of tobacco throughout. It will affect your sense of taste if you are not used to it. 2. COVID--this is the first place I have been too since March of 2020 where the waitstaff is not masked, and none of the patrons were either. While the guidelines are relaxing, they were still in place at the time of this writing. Clearly there was little concern about the pandemic. 3 The Food--my wife liked her hamburger. It was a large burger, well cooked and dressed. I had the fried shrimp basket. They should have noted that it was popcorn shrimp, more breading than fish. The coleslaw was rough chopped, in a very watery dressing. The desserts were great. The bowl of ice cream was huge and the French silk pie was huge too...if only I could have tasted it through the smoke. read more

I'm reviewing on behalf of my employer, Citizens National Bank. They accommodated our group of about 50 very nicely. Food was great, served quickly and while it was still hot. They have very good food I've been there probably five times I have always had a good meal there and left there satisfied.

Hate to leave a bad review as this place showed a lot of promise when it first opened. My last visit it took almost two hours to get food which was soggy, oil soaked breaded fish and cold, undercooked french fries. My parents were with me and neither were able to finish their burgers because they didn't "taste right". The owner came over and she was unapologetic saying they were bust. The old game room in the lower level is now apartments for staff. Bizarre. read more
