I was spending a few days exploring around Oklahoma City along my summer 2021 road trip and after…read morebeing all over the United States for a few months...I was in desperate need of a haircut! I happen to be in a small little town outside OKC, in a place called Moore and after eating at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast nearby, I randomly discovered Amy's Barber Shop through Google Maps. It also happened to be on an early Saturday in September when about 10 miles away from here in Moore, the Oklahoma Sooners were hosting a college football game in Norman. So...here I was at Amy's where she sat me down immediately for a quick cut. Amy mentioned how when the Sooners are playing football, the entire area becomes a ghost town. I didn't have to wait for a chair...where normally you put your name down on a first come, first served list. I guess I got lucky because it sounds like they normally can get busy...especially for a Saturday weekend morning. Amy asked what I'd like. I mentioned just clean the entire thing up, lol, and she understood. I was probably in the barber's chair for no more than 15 minutes. Across from Amy's station was a gentleman giving haircuts as well. It was the two of them. Speaking with Amy, she's a veteran of the armed services...and when she told me that...I was really glad I found her shop and was sitting down here. I take great pride in our country for all the men and women who bravely sacrifice their lives to go out to battle and protect our country and freedoms. If I lived in Moore or OKC...I'd be a regular here at Amy's for sure. After Amy finished...I asked how much? Amy said $10. $10? Really? That's the most affordable haircut I may have ever received! I'm from South Florida where there's no place around that charges $10 for a quality cut! This place was a gem! I gladly handed Amy $20 and told her to keep the change. And btw...Amy only accepts cash. No credit cards which is fine, because...who doesn't at least carry around $10 plus extra for a tip these days? Surprisingly, there are people who carry around zero cash with them. Overall, I'm happy I came to Amy for a haircut. I highly recommend her and hope everyone out there can help support small businesses especially ones like Amy's...who's a veteran of the military community and deserves to be recognized.

It turned out so well and the stylish was very patient with him. He looked so handsome and he liked his hair! The big win was my hubby's reaction when he got home. The two of them spent the majority of my cut having conversations between themselves about little ducks they hid around the store and it seemed to have distracted Amanda and Lexi who was actively cutting another persons hair. In the saved notes they have for me, she clarified if I wanted a mid/high fade and I said yes. She ended up doing a high fade, my sides are practically just cut on one size because she went way too high. Lastly, without asking, she made the back squared. I didn't say anything to her in the moment because I'm not that kind of person to blow up on someone. The only person I go to is Jena because she's fantastic at what she does, she's always nice, always asks the right questions, and makes sure that what she's doing, every step of the way, is what the person wants.

For context, Salons by JC offer many suites for rent, which is why there are 30 different salons listed on their website for one location. Vi was great; we discussed my hair goals and what I was wanting. I always enjoy the conversation and Vi does a great job taking my thoughts into consideration.
