Update on my previous review, below. Knology has recently upgraded their internet service, and the speed is much more on par with their pricing scheme. Still not great, but the faster internet package will actually support Netflix streaming video, now. Terrible Internet service. I paid for the high speed package, only to find my typical Internet speed was slower than what is standard speed in most other regions of the United States. Customer service was wholly unhelpful with this problem. I recommend using a different Internet service if at all possible. read more

I've heard good reviews about this business, but my experience was anything but good. We called for installation a week and a half ago. The installation "expert" arrived in the last five minutes of the scheduled window, fine, fine. He then mulls about for thirty minutes and tells us that he is not qualified to tell us if he can install (even though we "checked availability" on their website) and he must send out his supervisor. They scheduled the supervisor's visit without consulting us for OUR schedule, then did not follow up with us at all. We called repeatedly to find out what was going on-- finally, this morning, a week and a half from our initial phone call, we were told (without apology) that "y'all are going to have to get satellite or something, cause we can't install." Mind you, they never called us back-- not once-- despite repeated promises to keep us informed. Subscriber beware. read more

I have the 25 Mbps package which is somewhat reasonably priced. Unfortunately, I usually don't get the full speed unless I download during "off peak" hours, I usually get around 18-20 which is still fine for most of my needs. The have two HUGE issues with this company. First... Their internet experiences outages multiple times per month. I stream a LOT of television online & I work remotely regularly. The service goes out sometimes when I have important deadlines or during big live events which I stream (NCAA Football championship game!!!). It generally goes down for hours at a time multiple times a month. My second issue is that when I do try to call them, I generally wait on hold for upwards of 45 minutes each time!!! Sometimes I am able to reach them faster by calling their sales department sometimes, but usually that still can take half an hour. Then, when they want to send someone out to fix my service, I have to wait days to get an appointment. I work from home! I can't wait for days to get my internet fixed!!! I'm not sure whether it is failure to invest in labor or infrastructure which is the problem, or just poor management, but this company will lose my business when I move out of this apartment complex which has signed on with WOW! to monopolize the high-speed internet in our complex. read more

Get two tin cans and some string... I moved into a new home in Columbus Georgia 24 days ago. We bundled internet, cable and phone with Knology because they were the cheapest in our area. The internet has failed once, and many of the HD channels we paid extra for have been pixelated (a few service calls fixed most of that finally) but the real problem is with the PHONES. (You know, those things that have been around for more than a century?) In a little over three weeks, our phones have gone out TWELVE TIMES! These outages have lasted anywhere from a few hours to a full day and night. In every case, when I have called (thank goodness my cell phone is dependable) to report the problem, the rep has promised to send someone out in a few hours or days. The techs generally show up on time, but in each case, by then the phone is working again. So they just express great sympathy but say they cannot do anything while the phone is working. Alexander Graham Bell didn't have this much trouble making a phone call! If Knology would simply get someone here in a reasonable time, they MIGHT actually be able to do something to fix this problem. (Then again, maybe not; when I called yesterday for the THIRD time, the rep said HER system was down.) I think the worst part is that while you're on hold trying to get to a rep, having FINALLY waded through the menu (which I now have memorized) part of the recorded propaganda they play is "at Knology we strive to fix things before the customer even knows there's a problem." YEAH, RIGHT. Just grab that knife in my back and give it a big ol' twist! News flash for Knology's P.R. department: people who are calling to report a problem for the tenth time are NOT in the mood to hear how "wonderful" and "dependable" your service is. I don't give a damn what goal you "strive" for if you're not actually achieving it. I cannot WAIT to get switched over to AT&T. It'll cost more, but at least maybe it'll actually work. Horrible customer service. Unfortunately they have the monopoly in downtown Columbus, Ga. I called to set up my service and the first thing I received after calling was a bill and not a welcome packet explaining what I purchased. Calling them to find out my e-mail address resulted in two dropped calls and four transfers. You have to be home to receive a modem and for their "Tech" to connect the RG6 coax to it, as if there is any technical skill required for twisting on a connector. Enjoy the $20 service charge as you watch him act like he's actually doing something. Spent 5 minutes listening to a Knology manager explain why it's important for the "Tech" to go to your home. I explained I only have this goat rope whenever I am dealing with cable providers, to which he explained he had the same problem with Comcast. QWEST sends a user installation kit to your house with super easy instructions for you to follow. All knology has to do is print "Connect cable to modem and turn modem on". That easy! If it doesn't work, you call knology so they can tell you to turn it on and off a couple times (Cycle the modem). Can't wait to move and get back to another provider. Knology is the only provider that my apartment complex allows us to use. Which basically sucks. I made my installation through email. I told the man I had been speaking with that I needed a morning appointment. His next email was him scheduling me for a 4:00pm appointment... I mean, did you not just ready the email I sent you?! After getting him to change the appointment, I was good. They were supposed to be there between 10 and 12. So, I make sure to be at my apartment at about 9:30. I'm waiting around. Time is passing. Come 12:30, I call. FIRST, the man on the phone tells me that "You don't know. You're appointment is on (the original date that I had to have changed)." I told him no, that I had the email in front of me and that the appointment had been changed. He again said "I'm looking at it. You must be wrong." REALLY?! I'm wrong?! Wow. So then he tells me that the soonest he can get someone there is an hour and a half away. I proceed to tell him that I have to be at work at 2pm. So he says "So is that okay?" -_- NO! THAT IS NOT OKAY! So I have to make yet another appointment a week later for my installation. After they actually came and installed, the service man was very nice and helpful. And on time! The only problem was that he couldn't get the apartment phone to work. So he said he would have to have his tech supervisor to come take a look. They came the next day and got it working. After a few weeks, the apartment phone stopped working. I called and set up and appointment to have someone take a look. I gave them my cell phone number so that they could call when they were on their way. I received NO call. When the man got there, he was very nice. Although he had NO IDEA what to do. He said he was very unfamiliar with my apartment complex and couldn't find the cable. He spent a long time looking for the cable and looked in all rooms. (I had no idea what it would look like, so I was useless.) He tried calling his tech supervisor to have him come, but couldn't get in touch with him. So he said they would come back around 8-8:30am the next day. Surprise, surprise! No one showed up. No one called. NOTHING. Other than that, the service men that come out are extremely nice. Very helpful. And I love that they will admit when they have no idea what they're doing, instead of wasting not only my time by staring at wires, but their time as well. As for the people behind the desks (the man on the phone and the man that originally scheduled my installation), they could use some lessons in customer service. How are you supposed to make me, the customer, happy if you don't listen to me?! The prices are good, especially if you get a good bundle option. I always get a clear picture on my TV. My internet speed is great. My apartment telephone........... STILL DOESN'T WORK. If you can find a better deal price wise.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If I could, I would. read more

Worst cable we have ever had! We ve lived all over the country and had different services, never this bad. DVR messes up at least 1 time per month. Failed recordings, erased/disappearing recordings while watching it, pixalated and unwatchable recordings, erased/disappearing recordings while away from house and not 100% full. The list goes on and we ve only had the service for 5 months. We are restricted to this as the only option on our apartment property as well. I recommend using Internet only + Netflix w/online watching. NOT the cheapest in area by far. My husband has had Charter Cable in 2008 and said it was cheaper and reliable! Tell everyone how horrible Knology products are and to avoid at all costs, even if it means not having cable at all. Their Internet is fine. No real issues with that so far. read more

Complete garbage, they retard that did the install left his tools AND his lunch in my apt. Then, knology decides to change me for someone else's phone bill when I only have Internet and cable. Max DL speed of 2MB/s and UL about the same on ALL devices. Had knology come out 10+ times to fix it and always got the "well, the Internet is complicated and we don't know too much..." answer. Had actual techs come out and learn that the hardware they use is really crappy and old...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Breaking contract was impossible, customer service is run by the chick mafia and they gave me the whole "MmMmm Suga, we's gonna haf ta charge ya fa anotha month cause you ain't one of us and we don't know how ta process paperwork properly." terrible. read more

Upon terminating my service with Knology as I was relocating out of the area, I hand delivered all equipment to the office and paid a minimal fee which I was told would clear out my balance. Over a year later, I received a telephone call from a debt collection company advising that I had an outstanding balance $152.16 owed to Knology. Very disturbed by the call as well as the information provided, I asked how is this possible. I had a forwarding address and did not received notification nor previous telephone calls. This is not the first issue I have had with Knology. Prior to my relocation, I contacted Knology to discuss having my mobile number as the forward number or a recording message to provide my mobile number upon disconnecting my service. The customer service representative assured me the service was possible. However, when I followed back up to make the arrangements, I was told Knology did not service the state I was relocating to and consequently no message or forwarding contact number would be permitted. Further, the technician disconnected my call and all services the same exact day I called to make the arrangements. This was a blunder of what I consider major errors at my expense. By the way, I was a paying customer to Knology for 4 years while residing in Columbus, Georgia. Very poor customer service!!!!! read more
