My husband and I stopped at Faye on the way through to the Giant City / Makanda area…read more We were welcomed upon entering, but didn't order immediately. We took a look at the photo display set up in the front. We ordered at the counter and I asked for advice. The staff member offered helpful input. I ordered the healthiest most delicious porridge. My husband ordered the avocado toast with bacon and an egg. He really enjoyed the chili crunch oil. We ordered a cardamom latte with cold foam and a salted caramel. We added on a biscuit with bourbon butter to go! The arrangement of the floor was spacious. The bathrooms were family and seemed sufficient for wheelchair users.

I love a good soup and sandwich cafe and I think Faye has the whole package: chic, farmhouse…read moredecor, bright, airy dining space, a small market of curated kitchen goods and, of course, delicious food! I got a you-pick-two with red pepper soup and a strawberry salad. While I was deciding, my eyes wandered over to the baked goods (this is absolutely a trend with me) and I saw a peanut butter pretzel cookie....whaaaaat? No way this wasn't going in my belly! Then I glanced over to the drink case and I saw....Topo Chico! In Murphysville, IL?!? This place stands out for curating the best in a small town. Now I'm really excited for my lunch! And it did not disappoint. The red pepper soup was roasty and hearty, definitely a good choice for this chilly weather. And the strawberry salad was fresh and refreshing. Does that make sense? The ingredients were so fresh and crisp - sweet strawberries in January I'd no small feat! - but it was light and hit the perfect note as an accompaniment to the red pepper soup. And that cookie? Do I even need to tell you how delicious it was? I didn't even offer my friend a bite. I ate the whole thing and I'm not ashamed. So good! A delicious lunch and nice respite in a small Illinois town. Worth going out of your way, for sure!

The only market in this area with anything remotely resembling Asian food! I'm very grateful…read more Even though it's really small, it has basically everything I need to survive. I found aloe vera juice, spring roll wrappers, pho noodles, etc. You would never be able to find that at a Kroger's. The man who works here is very nice and accommodating. If there is something you need, he will try to get it for you (even if it's out of stock). The only downside is that they have no fresh seafood, but that is something I can live without. This place is heaven sent for people from other parts of the world!

This place is awesome!…read more I found dried boba (the kind I picked up cooks in just 5 minutes!). I picked up Roasted Green Peas by Kabuto--amazing. I loved these. They were crunchy and delicious (a great chip replacement). I saw durian popsicles, too. Crazy. There were great cheeses I never find at the regular grocery store, including Kashkawan (or Kashkaval) cheese...one of my favorites. I also found Thai tea, tahini, horchata mix, and many many other delicious fabulous things for me to experiment with. The guy running the place was super helpful and friendly. I think the prices are reasonable. I saw some of the same international items at the grocery store for a higher price. There was plenty of parking.
