The ones that weren't aren't there anymore. Employees help us when we ask for help with nice attitudes. In Osco, There's a fantastic pharmacist- Bill. He has gone extra for us for many years. We can't put into words our appreciation for all of his expertise, advice and years of help. One problem I've had though is calling their corporate offices more than once, taking lots of time, and the employees never getting a hint of a good report. I bet they'd find out if it was bad? Shame on them! Sometimes people getting the positive they deserve helps them do even more and have pride? It's not easy to an easy job and these people do it well! They should be acknowledged!!!!!! I knew the store would be crowded with extra stock because Mother's Day is this weekend, and it was. I couldn't get to some things I needed because there were boxes in the way. I accept this and was not overly bothered by it. But when we got to the checkout, we had one of the worst experiences ever! The cashier was a young woman I had never seen before so maybe she was new, but she scowled at me as we came to the register. I said hello because I always try to have a positive interaction but she didn't acknowledge me. I had my husband (who is blind, by the way) put the heavy items in our cart as there was no bagger. I had put my reusable bags at the end of the belt as I always do but when she was done checking the items through she just stood there. I guess she expected us to bag the groceries ourselves. It was like a momentary stand off, me expecting her to do it and her expecting me to do it. Ridiculous! I finally asked her if she was going to bag them. She reluctantly did so and pushed them toward me without a word. I felt like I was just punished for going to the store! I was so angry that I thought of asking for the manager but I was afraid I would totally lose my temper and be inappropriate so I did this review to get it off my chest.

Meijer tends to meet my needs when it comes to grocery, home products, casual clothing, personal care products, and gardening. Two things that stand out the most was their gardening products. I had started gardening, so seeds, plant food, gardening soil, and other gardening items were reasonably priced. Being a pescatarian, there vegetables worked for me. But now that I grow my own, the gardening catalog worked perfectly for me. As to grocery, although there has been spike in grocery prices, they were not as high as I noted at other grocery stores. It helps that I take advantage of coupons, specials, and price reductions thanks to participating in their perks program. This store serves four immediate suburbs, so it tends to get busy on weekends, for sure. I go during the middle of the day when I work from home through the week. I have yet to go and not find what I needed. And because I am a very picky shopper, primarily from the perimeter of the grocery store, I have not been disappointed in what they have.

The employees are usually super friendly…read more I know Covid has really messed with everything and everyone but I had a less than ideal experience with an employee a couple months ago where I went to return a large item in a cumbersome box and as I walked into the store an employee started yelling and I wasn't aware she was yelling at me. So I got in line along with my elderly father and as we were waiting the employee at the register started yelling while staring at me about how she already told me that there were no returns and as I opened my mouth to say I wasn't aware of that and there were no signs that stated that she said "you couldn't read the sign on the door" ... many other customers looked over at her in disbelief that she was speaking to me that way. We could hear her talking about us rudely as we waited to be able to get through about how she didn't know what we were still doing in line because we weren't going to be returning anything to that store. I do remember saying we were "ignorant" to one of the women who had already put her items on the conveyor belt. Her carrying on the way she did made everyone uncomfortable that was very clear! I had to wait to be able to have the other customers make their purchases because there was no way for me to get out without going against the arrows, which at that point I was mortified and terrified I would be yelled at and disrespected as a customer at a business I regularly visit. My elderly father had to endure all of this and without anything to rest on. We didn't grab a cart because we didn't think we'd have any issues or be in there all too long. The security officer raised her eyebrows many times as this woman said various things to other customers while we waited to go through. It was obvious she disapproved of the situation but it wasn't her place to say or do anything and I understand that. As my father and I left we could hear her talking rudely about us yet again. I've never felt more insulted by an employee of any business. Covid has thrown us all into unknown territory but covid does NOT excuse how she spoke to us. We left the store and I turned to the entrance to find this sign she screamed at me that was there and it was about 4x4 inch sign that was covered when the automatic door slid open. How on earth was I supposed to see that? My father has shared the experience with many people about how appalled he was that this woman was speaking to me, and he said he would've been just as appalled to hear her speak to any other customer that way as well. We know more than a few families who go out of their way to go to other local Aldi locations instead of this one that's closer to their home because of this exact experience we had. I haven't been back to this location because it could've been approached in a way less demeaning, disrespectful and just plain unacceptable way. I would have given this Aldi 1 star but because of how my trips there had been prior to this day I felt it deserved at least 1 star for that.
