I/We have gotten GREAT services starting with the hard working manager Jim at the Jewel - Osco 177th and Halsted st. Homewood IL. I actually called the corporate office about how great the manager is as well as some of his outstanding employees. (Thelma,Gabby, Corie, Brianna, customer service employees ,) josh - all around, Lisa- cashier, and a few more). When we go to customer service for something, they're nice and helpful. The ones that weren't aren't there anymore. Employees help us when we ask for help with nice attitudes. In Osco, There's a fantastic pharmacist- Bill. He has gone extra for us for many years. We can't put into words our appreciation for all of his expertise, advice and years of help. One problem I've had though is calling their corporate offices more than once, taking lots of time, and the employees never getting a hint of a good report. I bet they'd find out if it was bad? Shame on them! Sometimes people getting the positive they deserve helps them do even more and have pride? It's not easy to an easy job and these people do it well! They should be acknowledged!!!!!! There are more great employees there. Nobody's perfect, however, They are appreciated by us. read more

I'm in town for my cousin's graduation from medical school. Shes a physician now with a new MD! I wanted to stop for a bouquet and balloon on the way to the ceremony, and the family friend I rode with suggested we stop at Jewel-Osco's floral department. There was no one manning the department and one customer already waiting when I arrived. I grabbed two bouquets and one mylar balloon for graduates. I went to the self checkout and the balloon showed an error message when scanned. The woman supervising the self checkout said there should be a separate bar code besides the one actually on the balloon from the manufacturer. She radioed over the intercom to get the staff member manning the floral department there to help. I went back there, waiting a couple minutes and no one showed up. I exchanged my balloon with a different identical one and that one didn't have a proper bar code either. I left the balloons and took the two bouquets (they were small so I got two for fullness). Since I actually got some flowers, I'm giving two stars rather than one. However, I wouldn't come back here. They seemed understaffed and the staff there weren't able to help much. And the flowers were meh and somewhat scanty. read more

I've been going to this store since it opened nearly 30 years ago and since that time the customer service has deteriorated as it has everywhere. I pretty much only go there when I can't get what I need at Aldi. Today I had to get some specific items. I knew the store would be crowded with extra stock because Mother's Day is this weekend, and it was. I couldn't get to some things I needed because there were boxes in the way. I accept this and was not overly bothered by it. But when we got to the checkout, we had one of the worst experiences ever! The cashier was a young woman I had never seen before so maybe she was new, but she scowled at me as we came to the register. I said hello because I always try to have a positive interaction but she didn't acknowledge me. I had my husband (who is blind, by the way) put the heavy items in our cart as there was no bagger. I had put my reusable bags at the end of the belt as I always do but when she was done checking the items through she just stood there. I guess she expected us to bag the groceries ourselves. It was like a momentary stand off, me expecting her to do it and her expecting me to do it. Ridiculous! I finally asked her if she was going to bag them. She reluctantly did so and pushed them toward me without a word. I felt like I was just punished for going to the store! I was so angry that I thought of asking for the manager but I was afraid I would totally lose my temper and be inappropriate so I did this review to get it off my chest. read more

Today, I placed a grocery order and scheduled a pickup time. I received a message saying that my order was ready. I thought what great service. I gave a friend the order number and he went to pick up my order. He had to wait over an hour for someone to bring out the order. While he was waiting we called and got someone in the order department who suggested that he come into the store and pick up the order. Since he's on crutches, that was not an option. The young lady explained that she was working alone, and she had DoorDash orders that had to be filled before she could bring out my order that was placed 6 hours ago. Sadly, the service is really poor at that stoor, the staff seems to be polite and helpful whenever possible. There just aren't enough of them. I hope that they can hire more help soon. read more

I almost always do the self check out here because their check out lines are usually ridiculously long so it's quicker for me to get out with my stuff that way but it's often hard to get help from the employees who run the self check out when the self check out requires an employee before you can move forward with your purchase. Jewel has some of the harder to find grocery items that other grocery stores don't have but that usually means the prices are a little higher on those items because of that. They have a floral department but people there don't take care of the nicer plants the way that they should be taken care of. So if you're looking for a specific plant do your research & inspect it before you purchase it so you have better odds of it surviving. read more

I went here recently and I must say that it was a good experience. The store was clean and it was not crowded inside. They have a nice and organized selection of everything and most of it are well stocked but some are out of stock. This is not my frequent store but most of the things that I needed are available. Staffs are friendly. The prices are reasonable and some are even on sale. Overall the store was nice and a bit impressive. I would probably chose to have my groceries in here sometimes. read more

My overall shopping experience was pretty good. The only thing that irked me was how long EVERY checkout line was. Not sure if they were short or what but I had to wait in line way longer than needed. I do want to make mention about one of the cashiers, Olivia D. She was truly amazing and made my shopping experience better. She had a vibrant demeanor to her and had customer service out of this world! Olivia was one of the best cashiers I've had at Jewel. Friendly, Clean and so many great deals with the free members card. If you are ever lonely then I suggest walking into the spacious Vegetable/Cold Cuts section and you'll be amongst other Jewel Osco peeps. Suggest visiting Jewel Daily because they not only have their great sale items there are also some clearance products that are 50% off (Mostly in the bathroom supply/make-up isles). A great selection of fresh vegetables... just aim for the sale items because the normally priced stuff will be on sale in no time! read more

It appears that Jewel is asking employees to bring their own masks since each employee seems to have a different mask. Most are wearing them below their nose which does no good. One stocker had her mask pulled all the way down. No one was wearing gloves. The sacker at the checkout had such a bad mask that when I ask him to cover his nose, the mask fell down again in about two seconds. This was on Sunday morning. I don't believe Jewel is doing all it can to protect it's customers and it's employees from the Corona Virus. read more

I absolutely love coming into this store. All of the employees are so nice and helpful. There is always a wide selection of items and whatever is on sale is available. I dont actually live near this Jewels but I frequent it alot when I go visit my parents. If I lived near this Jewel I would probably shop there just about every day. read more

This is where we buy all our food. It's got everything a body needs, though [complain]we wish we had a Whole Foods nearby. We have tried other stores in the area and the other grocers are either (1) run down (2) low-class poorly behaved customers (3) bad staff (4) weirdly stocked or poorly organized. The Jewel on Osco has good staff with high morale, a good pharmacy, and is always in stock on our usual items. It looks clean and well-maintained. read more

This place sucks. All the Jewels got rid of the self checkouts, I assume to have more employees working. Ever since every time I go in here there's either a very long line at the express lanes (where the self checkout used to be) or there's no one at the express lanes. Today the light was on at the express lane and no one there. 2 employees wandering around looked at me a few times. I had 2 items but I had to get in a line behind someone buying 30 items. And they always give me those Monopoly pieces even though I don't play that because they don't want to ask me if I play them. I promptly throw those in the trash. This is why I go to Meijer in Flossmoor a majority of the time. read more

Worms in a package of smelt. Called the store and the guy in the meat department calmly told me they would refund my money. I stopped buying fish at Jewel years ago--but yesterday I saw the smelt and I broke my own rule. Never again. read more

I have been coming to this Jewel-Osco for about a year. The service has been good. Yesterday, I had a prescription filled the very first time. When I took a pill last night, I didn't have a very good reaction to it. Spoke to my Doctor and was told to stop taking the medicine. Since the medicine was not covered by the insurance, I Called and spoke to Matt (Pharmacy Manager) and explained the situation. He was very understanding and told me to bring the medicine back for inspection. He issued the prorated refund . No issues whatsoever. read more

So we come here often because it's on our way home. But when check out time came around 4 of the 5 registers closed at the same time leaving one open. If this was in the middle of the night I would understand. It at 5:30 to have this happen on a Friday is very odd. They still have some good deals on meat and chicken. I have been going here for at least 30 years plus. I like this store. I know where the store items are and staff are friendly. On july 3rd 2019 i shopped many thing and I bought BBQ sauce. On 4th july I noticed it was missing because I took the items in the original shopping bag out the next day. I called 5th to complain and a lady said they will call me back. I have not heard a word from no one. Its cost me 4 dollars or so but no one cared to follow up. Watch those people who bag your groceries . Your item may go to another person. read more

The store atmosphere was much nicer the previous years when I frequented this establishment. There was the one thing that got my hairs to standing on my neck when I visited this Jewel store. Cashier Josh a rather cute young man made a comment that remove his cuteness and made him ugh! in my eyes. He while was checking out at the register next to his stated to his coworker he wished them move him to another register because the one he was at there were too many "Old People" checking out at his register. Agh!!! Was I pissed off. Make him work on Senior Day and direct all "Old People" to his register. read more

Great store clean good location Price's are very good plenty of parking. Lots of one stop shopping plus home Depot and Menards makes it easier. Jewel osco needs Starbucks inside. People working there seem Nice. read more

Can you say A1 customer service?!!! The produce is always fresh I can make a fruit salad any time of year!!! The meat department doesn't smell like some other grocery stores. Also the cuts are nice and red/fresh. And Ben & Jerry's is almost always on sale! read more

This is what happened today. I sent my 2 young adult sons to get some of the advertised items, including My Mixx selections. They did not have the My Mixx items. They did not have an advertised item from the bakery. They did not have a full selection of the advertised Zatarain rice. When they attempted to ask a clerk for assistance, the clerk was less than interested. When my sons came home, they realized that they were not given Monopoly tickets. When we called, Gretchen, the front desk clerk was rude and implied that it was the fault of my sons. I asked to speak with a manager and James, the assistant manager, accepted the call but he was clueless as to how he should speak with a dissatisfied customer. We will have to return tomorrow with our receipt to get the missing tickets. We regularly shop at a different Jewel location. read more

There is always a wait in line. They never have more than two lanes open. You are almost forced to go to self-check out. Staff is not friendly or helpful. However, the store is usually clean and well-organized. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh. read more

Unfortunately my mother is on government help due to medical reasons that prohibit her to work. She is aging and I drove her to run some errands for her home as she does not drive. The young male cashier was very polite while he got his manager to conduct the vouchers. I have never been to this jewel before, but I will tell you, your employee was EXTREMELY rude and was very loud about the fact she was using government vouchers and demanded that she put items back on the shelf because there wasn't enough money on her "voucher" to cover the cost. My mother repeatedly told her that she had a debit card for the rest of the purchases. It literally ensued into an argument. I finally said, "she is paying for the difference" the manager was speaking so loudly that people from different aisles looked over as she talked about my mothers government vouchers. My mother was so embarrassed that she also got loud with the manager on duty. The woman was offensive to my mother because of her "vouchers" she used for toilet paper. I almost chimed in but my mother was very very upset and defended herself. People left the wait line and all eyes were on them. I SUGGEST TREATING ILL CUSTOMERS WITH A LITTLE RESPECT AND COMPASSION. I know it's only a grocery store, but horrible horrible customer service training. I am in the customer service industry and I would never ever speak to a customer this way! Especially an elderly one. seriously!!! I'm so pissed. read more

Went to this store to get deli and there were five people working there. The employees were standing around talking and having a good time and it took them about 5 minutes to even acknowledge that I was there. When I finally got waited on the young man that sliced my salami sneezed into his arm and that was enough, they ALL had bad attitudes and acted like I was disturbing them to do their jobs, I complained by phone to the manager but he just covered for them. I hope they get it together because super Walmart is opening accross the street and they will have a deli. Besides this is not the only Jewel in town. read more

Visited this store this morning. It was fairly busy at 11:30 am. There were at least 2 people stocking and blocking in the produce aisle at almost noon. I'm a visitor to the area and where I come from (a town much smaller than Chicago) they have the shelves stocked and aisle cleaned by 8 am! In this Jewel a lot of square footage is devoted to non-grocery items. When a large portion of square footage is taken up with non-grocery items that cuts back on variety and choice for food items. I'm use visiting a great Jewel-Osco store near downtown Chicago. This place was a big disappointment. If you're looking for a good grocery store drive past this place! Walt's is just a few blocks way. Walt's is far better managed than this Jewel and they have very responsible hiring practices. Hiring individuals with a variety of challenges. I left here and went to Walts where I found a 99 cent head of iceberg lettuce that had been $1.99 at the Jewel. BTW Walts isn't my idea of a great grocery but a much better choice than this Jewel location. read more
